Sea Harvest Fish Market

We use to make special trips to eat here. Last night it was my friends birthday so we gave them a shot. They told us around 20 minutes for a table, 45 minutes latter they told us they were cleaning our table, pointed it out and then someone seated someone else there. They they sent us out on the patio which was freezing and left us out there for another 20 minutes. After finally placing our order, we waited another 25 minutes. Then the waitress came and said they were out of what 2 of the 3 of us ordered and said that the '1 order of swordfish was done but they needed to take the other 2 orders again, how about a teriakki bowl, I can have the chef make that for you real fast. Yes they asked if we wanted terriaki since they were out of Rainbow Trout after selling us on it as the nights best item. We said we had no interest in that and she was real pushy about trying it, we told her we had driven there for seafood and asked why over 30 minutes after ordering when she was delivering the other food would they let us know at that point and not sooner, and she said the chef had just let her know. My family and I have given this restaurant numerous chances to wow us...It never happened. In fact, during our last meal, we were shouted at and berated by the chef because my husband sent back a tasteless snapper dish. My hubby isn't the type of person to send something back, unless it's simply inedible. He couldn't bring himself to eat it, so he told the waitress to remove the dish after a few bites. She ended up charging us for the dish, and my father in law requested that she remove the charge. I guess she mentioned it to the chef, who came storming into the dining area, shouting at us "I have a rule in my kitchen, you can only take 2 bites of a meal and send it back. You took more than 2 bites and now you don't wanna pay!". Now this embarrassment occurred in front of a packed dining (40+ people) area and his staff! We tried to reason with this chef calmly, but he wouldn't listen and continued to talk over the 4 of us about the "rule" of his kitchen. In the end, we informed him that we wouldn't be coming back to eat there again, and heard "That's fine, I don't want you back here!". We asked to speak to the manager, and this unbalanced fellow declared himself the chef, manager, and owner of the restaurant....Uh, ok. We paid our bill (he took a whopping $4 off of our bill, "as a favor" to us!) and received profuse apologies from the wait staff as we filed out of the restaurant, angry and humiliated. As a bonus--my mother in law spent the night throwing up her meal. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to this dump. What a shame, as it's in a great spot. This is more of a fish market than a sit down place to eat, I have been there a few times, as I frequent Monterey and like to try different places every time I visit. The food was okay, but a little steep in price, they have like five tables and are crowded easily. Service?? what service? they brought the food and one set of drinks and that was it. no one came to see if everything was okay or to see if we needed more drinks... They have a "so what attitude" I don't care for. That's why I tried the place twice to see if it was a one time thing.. Not kid friendly, they have a shared restroom with a dive school class that is behind the building... We went to this restaurant after a local recommended it. I would not recommend it. The food was about average to below average. The severs constantly pressed us to see if we were finished; obviously rushing us out of the place although only two other tables were occupied. Finally, tired of the constant interruptions, we bolted. Overpriced food for what it was, iceberg salad wasn't any better than a McDonald's side salad, bread was nothing special, food was lackluster, and service was obnoxious.
