Buyer Beware 10/8/2010

If you are looking for home improvements to be done, I caution you to look elsewhere. Scott is very unprofessional in that he will accept work that he does NOT know how to accomplish and wont fix it when questioned. My scenario is this: My neighbor had hired Scott to build a joining fence that had burnt down. I had asked my neighbor to ask Scott if he could install a gate instead of a completed fence. After talking to Scott he agreed to build the gate for an additional $75.00 and we agreed to it. The gate was installed using the material my neighbor had bought for the fence. Not enough material had been purchased to build the gate correctly and rather then communicating this to anyone, Scott proceeded to build it anyway. He said that he should have went and bought what was needed but didn't. The gate is out of plum, not level, missing the middle supports and the nailing schedule goes the opposite direction from the fence nailing schedule. This looks really bad and the bottom of the gate sticks out 3"" from the top and not level with the fence. Scott had told me that I could get a 2x4 and place it in the middle for support and maybe install another hinge in the middle to keep it straight but this is a $75.00 gate. Isn't this what he was hired to do? The back side of the gate you can see that the framing was built backwards from the rest of the fence. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY IF YOU WANT QUALITY WORK DONE. In my opinion the word professional does not apply here at all. Scott had also committed to refunding the $75.00 and then, after a month of calls, he retracted and said that he felt he built a gate worth the money. Buyer beware, if I could go less than a star rating I would. more

Very Unprofessional 6/10/2010

I met Scott at my home and got a painting bid. He scheduled to come by a few days later. We bought paint and cleared the room where the work was to done. He couldn't find my house and called for directions. He was clear on the other side of town. Apparently this guy does not know the Denver Metro area streets. On his estimate he has his address of Wheat Ridge spelled as one word. That should have tipped me off on his intelligence. Finally showed up and spread his filthy drop cloth out scattering dirt and dust all over the room. My wife had bought some primer and some latex paint. Scott told her sorry, the bid was for one coat only and basically picked his stuff up and told her he was not interested in the job anyway. My wife called me and I got Scott on the phone and he told me the same thing and hung up and left. He did not even let me ask about why he had decided to bailout on his bid. I had turned two reputable painters bids down and went with this guy who now leaves me with a room ready to paint and 2 cans of paint. This guy should have been clearer upfront or at least tried to work something out. No negotiating skills at all. Cons: Everything more
