Scammers 12/31/2010

So caught a cab tonight in Santa Monica. Flag this guy down, and gave him the intersection to drop us off at. At best a 7 or 8 dollar cab ride. His meter was flying. 15 bucks! Called two other companies, asked for an estimate considering the exact pickup and drop off points...less than $10 was the response. Some of the yellow cab guys are scammers, rigged meters. Next time, I call the cops, and have them check out his meter. Didn't realize till tonight, you could do that. Also, first review on here is written by SM Yellow Cab themselves. Green Taxi of Santa Monica seems more legit. Although, they could take you for a ride too. Always ask for a quote before getting in the cab. more

Bad 11/30/2009

So my buddy leaves his cellphone in the cab. The cab driver holds it ransom for $100. We call the manager and she says he's entitled to do that....Bold statement on behalf of your company. I have a video of the entire thing so I can't wait for a yellowcab employee to respond here. Unfortunately I have no better recommendation, as with most cabs in Santa Monica/LA area I have noticed a consistent effort of these guys trying to scam you out of a few bucks. Either they'll rig the meter or give you incorrect change. It's too bad most people don't even count the change or when they finally do it's too late because the driver already drove off.
