Lots of monkeys.... 1/30/2006

Santa Ana zoo is a great place to take the kids and kill some time. Going during the week gives you an easier time with their parking, which is limited, but free. The zoo has lots of monkeys. Lots. I love animals, but monkeys might are pretty low on my list....they scare me. :) But keeping the kids in mind, they usually love them and have fun seeing all the different species. They also have a barn area, with barnyard animals, a reptile section, birds and more. When you need a little rest, take them to the playground area where they can wear themselves out on a couple jungle gyms, swings and slides. They also have a snack bar and gift shop. Great place to go especially if your kids love animals and you dont want to spend your entire day at LA zoo or San Diego zoo. more

Perfect day out for kids and free entry too 10/6/2005

Excellent for kids who haven't gone to zoo until now. They will enjoy the monkeys and the ducks. The best point is that its free for Santa Ana residents. So need not worry about the entry fee.Can take the children back whenever they ask.It can also be a good picnic point if someone wants to spend time relaxing with the family.Just take some food, drinks etc and you are all set.The kids can enjoy playing and looking at all the animals whereas you can enjoy your food and relax. Overall its a good place for a family day out with minimal cost that too for your food. more

Just Alright 9/27/2005

this zoo is just okay. it is really small and there aren't that many different types of animals. i've been there once before and do not feel the need to go back anytime soon. there are just a lot of monkeys and some birds. it has the feel of just a large petting zoo, but you can't touch the animals. however, they do have an elephant ride, which is kinda fun. i'd say just check it out and see what you think. more

Closer than LA or San Diego 9/26/2005

The Santa Ana Zoo is perfect if you feel like going to the zoo but don't feel like sitting in a car for an hour before even getting to the gates. Plus, the Santa Ana zoo is really cheap so you don't feel bad if you only stay for a little while. It generally isn't very crowded which is nice. Overall, it's a fun experience without the price and distance of the bigger zoos. more

Cheap, Small Zoo 9/25/2005

This zoo used to be better I think. It seems to have gotten smaller as its aged, and now just seems a place to see some monkeys. They house a lot of monkeys and ducks here! But you can get elephant rides, and they have a playground area with equipment for the kids as well. It doesnt cost much, and parking is free. more

Santa Ana Zoo 9/3/2005

Santa Ana Zoo is good zoo and have fun when you visit here. The entry is free for the Santa Ana residents and they need to bring some identity proff when they visit it. All others have to pay the desired fee.. My kid enjoy the visit to zoo and will learn more stuff about animals. more

I used to live in Santa Ana and if you are a Santa Ana resident, you can enter the Santa Ana zoo for free if you bring proof of residency like a driver's license with a Santa Ana address. I don't live in Santa Ana anymore but I still take my kids here every now and then. This is a really nice zoo and my kids love the pony rides that they have here. more

inexpensive, educational, fun. 8/19/2005

The Santa Ana Zoo is a small zoo tucked away in the city. The Zoo has a nice outdoor picnic area outside the actual zoo. Think ahead, and pack a lunch. Inside, they have a handful of interesting animals. They run heavy with primates. There is also an elephant ride, and a petting zoo. They offer a self guided tour for $5 at the gift shop. The few concessions stands will not leave your pockets empty. The snacks and drinks are reasonably priced. There is also a birthday party package available, and different party areas. A playground and a train will also be of interest to the little ones. The zoo is inexpensive but you really get more for your money. more

Santa Ana Zoo 8/19/2005

The Santa Ana Zoo is also a favorite with my kids. They love the Crean Family Farm where they get to pet all the different farm animals. Also a favorite are the pony rides and if your child is brave enough they have elephant rides which was really fun. They also have a train ride available. more

Cheap fun for little ones 8/18/2005

While there aren't too many animals at this incredible shrinking zoo, the price of admissioon is just a few dollars, and whhat other zoo offers elephant rides. There is a petting zoo as well as evveryone's favorie - lots and lots of primates. This place has everyting a big city zooo hass, only smaller, cheaper, and less oof it. There is a park and a train ride as well which is always fun for the little kiddies. Take a lunch and have a picnic in the expansive adjoining park. Again, it's well worth the few dollars for admisssion. more

Santa Ana Zoo 8/14/2005

This zoo is always a great place to take kids that have never seen wild animals before. The zoo has excellent array of animal exhibits and plenty of education information about all of them. The park is not as large as the San Diego Zoo but we always have a great time nonetheless. Admission prices are pretty decent and it's great for about a half day of entertainment for the kids. Although it is located in the not so scenic city of Santa Ana, I highly recommend it. more
