San Jose State University review by Aviation Operations Major 3/29/2014

SJSU is the only CSU with Aviation as a major and that is why I am attending. If you like diversity San Jose is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the nation, along with the University. On campus housing can be a burden due to expense. Classes are hard to get with the excess number of students attending. Class sizes vary from 20-350 with professors from around the globe (all are smart and knowledgeable but some have trouble speaking English properly and thus conveying information can sometimes be a challenge). A nice small campus in downtown San Jose really give you a city vibe with a somewhat dangerous campus at night. Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and Oakland all within an hour drive, very centrally located with a lot of city activities. Quality education but almost impossible to graduate in just 4 years with packed and limited classes during a given semester. more

San Jose State University 5/2/2006

San Jose State University is a good university to go. If you really want to learn something, you can go to this university. The homeworks are relatively hard (ofcourse except some classes;)) but it is worth doing it if you really want to learn something. Art and Engineering are the most competitive major and you can see a lot of talented students here. You would be inspired by the talented students in this university. more

nice school 4/3/2006

I am working on my second bachlor's degree and this is only my first semester at SJSU but so far I am really liking the school. my main complaints would probaby be different than some -- but that's because I am an older student. I would love more options for child care esp some drop in care, but the library is beautiful. also, the food services on campus are horrible. more

San Jose State University 8/17/2005

This school is located right in the middle of downtown San Jose, and features a brand new 7 story library that it shares with the city. The school is right next to the main downtown club area, and has its own Frat House row, so there is plenty for students to do during nights and weekends. more

Good option for working people 8/11/2005

I started at San Jose State after a few years of working at my first full time job. My main reason for going back was to get a formal degree in Computer Science (my Bachelor's degree was in Biochem) since I was working in a bioinformatics company. SJSU was a good fit for that since they offered most of the classes I needed in the evening so I could go after work. Well, I ended up getting my BS in CS and an MS in Bio/CS after many years. One of the things that is nice about SJSU is the stuff you learn there is much less theory and much more application (at least in the CS department) which means that you'll probably be able to start using what you learn immediately (in some cases) at work. more
