Sam & Dave's BBQ II opened this early summer (2006) on Whitlock Ave. in Marietta, GA. (just behind the Waffle House, in the old A & P shopping center).
I was so happy to head out for BBQ dinner! Finally, a delicious BBQ place close to home that was a no-frills restaurant. Pack your wet wipes, then grab paper towels, forks and some extra sauce if you'd like and then be ready to enjoy delicious Pork, Chicken or Beef Brisket BBQ and many more selections (like BBQ ribs!)
You'll enter the restaurant doors, walk up to the register to place your order. After you've placed your order, claim a table for yourself (& family if you've brought them), grab some plastic eating utensils, your drink, and sit down to be ready for some great tasting food. (you'll have to go pick up your food from the counter where you ordered).
I'd suggest for a family to eat at lunch time for cost-effective eating. There are lunch specials, Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 am - 2pm (ONLY). They usually have a selection of your choice of meat, fries & a drink. I strongly suggest you order the luncheon plate with one meat and two sides- you WON'T go hungry!
The potato salad is cut into 1/4 in. wide slices and is not too tart or vinegar-y. I had to share mine with my husband as he discovered that he REALLY liked the Potato Salad...especially when it was mine. LOL. The baked beans were baked "just enough" without being burnt or tasting funky. They were a tad sweet, yet complimented the taste of the BBQ. You may also choose from Sam & Dave's BBQ sauces. However, the Pork BBQ just didn't seem like it needed it! Really! I ate most of mine without any BBQ sauce. Sacrilegious you say? No! This Pork BBQ was absolutely delicious to the last bite.
The dinner prices were a bit too much our family of five's budget in this no-frills place. I would have given 5 stars, but there are not any "kids menu items".
They're open Tues.-Sat. 11 am- 9 pm & Sun. 11 am - 6 pm...OR until the BBQ runs out. (they ran out of BBQ Ribs when we arrived on Saturday evening.)
Closed Mondays.
