My wife and I were in town visiting our son for the day last Saturday. Last time we were in town we ate at a great restaurant Joseph's Steakhouse. I was dying to go here again but they didn't open until 5. Our son told us that the owner also owned Saloon so we decided to come here for lunch. Another fantastic restaurant for the Mondanaros. The decor is a like the old west with animal heads on the wall. They have an extensive tequila bar and delicious food. We had the nachos to begin with, which were huge. For lunch I ordered the pork, which was delicious. I'm very impressed with these restaurants and can't wait to come back and try more of what they have to offer. more

Margaritas:) 12/9/2010

I love this place!!! I've been here quite a few times now and have never been disappointed. My favorite thing to get are the fish tacos, they are awesome! They also have the build your own burrito now which I think is a great idea. I got this last time and it was made perfectly, just how I like it. The Saloon also has an amazing tequila bar and delicious margaritas :) more

YUM! 10/26/2010

I was in Iowa City this past weekend for the Iowa vs. Wisconsin game. I ate at Saloon for lunch and really enjoyed it. The food was great. We ordered nachos as an appetizer which were huge and delicious and for my meal I ordered the taco salad. The salad was also huge and delicious. And the drinks were great too. I had a mojito but my favorite was their pineapple black pepper infused tequila....so yummy! more

I'm Hooked 9/23/2010

I love this restaurant; the food, the atmosphere, the service. I've only been here a few times but I'm already hooked. For an appetizer I would recommend getting the chips and dips. It comes with a number of dips: queso, salsa, refried beans, guac and it's a larger appetizer so I would recommend getting it if you have at least 3 people. Two of the times I've been here I've ordered the Fish Tacos which are amazing, and the last time I tried the Garlic Shrimp Burrito which was just as tasty. I would highly recommend coming here, you won't be disappointed. more

Awesome. 9/21/2010

One word, Awesome. I was in Iowa City this past weekend and decided to eat here, I loved it!! It's located downtown Iowa City in the Ped-Mall. We ordered the chips with queso and salsa for an appetizer. For my meal I ordered the Blackened Shrimp Taco, one bite and I was sold. Not only was the service great but they have a great drink menu and Tequila bar. I will definitely be coming back here to try more! more

Great Food, Great Location 9/7/2010

I ate here for lunch this past Sunday and was very impressed. It's located in the Ped-Mall and they have great decor, atmosphere and a really nice patio. We chose to sit on the patio this time due to the nice weather. They have a great menu with a variety to choose from. I've heard great things about their Enchiladas, Fish Tacos and Jimichangas but I was in the mood for a burger and went with The Willy. It's a burger with Serrano Peppers and Jack Cheese and it's amazing. By far one of the best burgers I've had in awhile. My whole dining experience at Saloon was great and I can't wait to go back to try some more of their delicious food. more

Definitely Worth It 8/26/2010

My girlfriends and I ate at Saloon for dinner tonight. I loved the atmosphere when I walked in, there are so many interesting things on the walls to look at. For an appetizer we ordered the chips and dips, which is a great idea for a group of people. I absolutely loved their guacamole. For dinner I got the Jimichanga which was amazing. They also have several different types of tequila and on Thursday nights they have half price tequila flights, which we took advantage of. Our food was great and so was our service, I can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious food. more
