Japanese straightening has been "the treatment" to get amongst Asians for years now but may be difficult to actually find salons that offer the service. But Salon M, just recently hired on a specialist from Korea who has been beautifying celebrities from Korea for 10 years and brings these unique techniques to Ann Arbor. His English is a little rusty but the Digital Wave Perm & Magic Straightening that he does are superb, truly amazing. Say goodbye to blow dryers and flat irons, I just shower & go! more

I recently went to the salon and got my haircut. I was warmly welcomed and was even reminded my appointment very professionally. When I was there however, the owner was cold and a poor business owner, another stylist in the back was using profanity and slamming doors. The owner hovered over my stylist, like she was doing something wrong but was doing what I thought was amazing. I would recommed going there only for the particular stylist. If they left, I would follow them not stay at the salon. (And they do not have any male stylists for those who prefer men). more

This is a stylish small salon in on the far side of Ann Arbor which caters to a range of ages and both men and women. A full range of hair-styling, waxing and nail care is offered. The salon is owned by a 30-something (40-something?) Korean woman named Min-Wa who is lively and attentive to detail; she's always working on improvements both to salon features and service. The staff is as ethnically diverse as Ann Arbor and everyone is made to feel welcome. I've only seen Renee for hair, and her cuts have been more than competent; she's friendly and upbeat - as are all of the employees. I've never had to wait long, and there's a range of interesting magazines to peruse. My favorite employee is Megan, who at the tender age of 19, is already the best nail tech I've ever had. She's extremely careful with hygiene and gentle and precise with her manicures and pedicures. She makes pleasant conversation if you're in the mood, and stays quiet when you're not. She's absolutely a gem of a girl and I'll be very sad if she ever tires of her career. more
