i have been living in the city of salem now for almost 5 years. in the 5 years i have seen the city ave it ups and down but mainly downs. the crime rate is getting worse and it seems to me the cops are not being treated good by our mayor & board. we dont have but 2 to 3 cops on at 1 time, and there is shootings everywhere and our taxes are going up, for what to pay for the poor. i feel the money is misused we should look at taking care of our police with new cars,equipment and more help and stop paying for more hud housing. i live in the nice part of town but westill have our landlords who dont maintain the property (some are board members) and they let anybody move in and there is trash everywhere and nothing is done but passing stupid nonsense laws. i hope one day somebody will stand up to the politicians and the city people vote for change because the ycity is going to lose the people who pay for the peolpe who dont pay and commit the crimes, so please step up and help our local law enforcement and give them what they need and the officers we need to fight the crime and make people feel safe when entering the city. with all the new bussiness opening people are still to come to salem because of the crime and we can thank the mayor & council for not giving our law enforcement what they need to fight crime.
