Terrible Service- Don't Waste Your Money! 7/1/2008

My fiance and I went to Roux 3 to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. What a disappointment. The server forgot to put our order in and watched every other guest who sat down after us be served before us. At the end of the meal we were told the credit card machine wasn't working and the server gave us an attitude when we told him we didn't have cash. He then took about 20 minutes calling in the credit card numbers. We were there over two hours from start to finish. The worst part was a few days later my fiance had discovered the server had added an extra $10 to his tip that he did not authorize. The tip we had left was 15% due to the server forgetting about our order. We called the restaurant but were told the manager was not in that day and they would have to call back. We still haven't heard back from them in regards to the extra $10 that was placed on our bill from the server. Pros: Donut Dessert Cons: Service, Management more

Good...not great 2/13/2008

I recently went here with a party of seven. We didn't have a reservation, but were seated immediately. Our waitress was very nice and accomodating. The appetizers were small, but for the most part I liked everything we ordered. Our meals were very good and I enjoyed it - but I definitely think it was a little over-priced. I have no problem spending money on a really good dinner - just don't want to spend the same money and get just a "pretty good" dinner. Overall, I think this was a nice restaurant and would possibly return...but I'm thinking I could get a similar meal somewhere else for a bit cheaper. more

Best Service and Food and the tri-state area 4/11/2006

Went to Roux 3 Friday night for one of the best dinners I have had in quite while. Enjoyed a glass of wine at the cozy bar. The server was very professional and reccomended excellent dishes. I Had fresh as can be tuna appetizer and perfectly done sea scallops with a mushroom risotto. My dining companions' entrees looked equally appealing, tender filet over grilled onions and a great looking and tasting halibut dish. The choclate bread pudding provided a wonderful punctuation to the meal. I can't wait to head there again with my friends. We are hoping Mike will be our server again. It is nice not having to drive anymore all the way into the city to have a great meal and service. Pros: excellent wine list, friendly staff, reasonable prices more

Awful In Every Way 2/14/2006

Everything about this place was awful. the service was ultra slow. took an hour to get our food, the waiter did not care and did not even acknowledge that waiting an hour for food was a problem. In addition when the food came out it was not cooked. The manager did not try in the slighest to make ammends. I have never had such an awful experience. I will never go back their again, and warn everyone not to go here. Pros: None Cons: Wait Staff, Food, Management more

Amazing !!! 11/6/2005

My absolute favorite restaurant. The food is amazing (you must try the calamari), service is attentive and price is a value. I've been there numerous times and have never been disappointed. Pros: Service, Excellent Food, Price more

Glad to have found this restaurant! 8/30/2005

The beginning house salads were amazing, from the goat cheese to the dressing. Fancier than your average house salad. My mom had the roasted pork, which was recommended to her by our waitress. It was literally falling off the bone - absolutely magnificent. I enjoyed the filet minion, which was topped with maytag blue cheese, red onions, and came served with potato puree. The service was great. Supposedly, we had the two best servers in the house. When we came back a second time for lunch, they remembered us. We were seated quickly but it is best to make reservations, as most people did and we just happened to get lucky in being seated. FYI, Roux 3 has an excellent cobb salad, my fave lunchtime dish. I devoured the entire thing and they were sooooo generous with the blue cheese. Pros: excellent food, caring staff, nice ambiance Cons: food can take awhile, noisy more

Our Favorite Restaurant!! 7/30/2005

My husband and I love this restaurant. We've been about three times now and have never been disappointed. The service is top notch and the food is even better. We especially recommend the calamari and scallops. Absolutely delicious! At each visit, our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The place looks fantastic and is a great setting for a romantic evening. Roux 3 has definitely become our favorite place for a night out! Pros: Excellent food, Excellent service, Excellent Atmosphere more

Skip the traditional steakhouses-go to Roux 3 7/30/2005

I don't know if Roux 3 even considers its filet mignon dish to be a specialty, but I can assure you it was! What a treat to be able to avoid the trappings of the Schuykill Expressway and enjoy a fabulous dining experience in a location so convienent to all our friends in the suburbs. People watching at Roux 3 was so much fun and our waitress gave the restaurant such a light and easy air. She actually "thanked" me when I asked for a wine recommendation that would comliment our meals. She was friendly, effiecient, well-trained, without a hint of pretentiousness. How cool is that?! If you do go, do not miss the warm cinammon and sugar beignets with expresso ice cream for dessert. The name "Coffee and Doughnuts" doesn't begin to do it justice. We enjoyed them so much we were late picking up our son! more

Best Calamari Ever! 7/26/2005

Since calamari is my absolute favorite dish, I try the calamari appetizer at every restaurant I go to (that offers it) in order to determine if the rest of the meal is worth ordering. I must say that there is NO better calamari than at Roux3. Therefore, I was not surprised when the rest of my meal was just as delicious. I had the Halibut dish with the lumps of maine lobster, which was just to die for...YUMMY I was sort of in a hurry but I had no problem getting my meal promptly. I will be back for more calamari and a different dinner dish. Pros: Quality food, outdoor seating Cons: weekends crowded more

Disappointed 7/25/2005

When we went in, the host ignored us for a good five minutes even though the place wasnt full. He walked by us several times and didnt say hi or anything. When we were about to walk out in disgust, he finally spoke to us. Not a good start to the meal. But once we were seated, the waitress promptly took our order. We had the calamari for our appetizer and it came out pretty fast. It was good, but some of it was undercooked. The main course took forever to come out. This other couple, who was seated after us, got their entrees before ours even though they ordered the same chicken dish we did. Thats just not right. The food was just way too salty for our taste. But, after our experience, I doubt were ever going back. more

The Bad and the Good 3/9/2004

Similar experience to "A Find!!!" review. I had dinner reservations last Sat for 8:30, arrived at 8:15, and was seated at 8:50. Jazz band by the bar was a plus. Had tickets for movie @ 10:15, informed waiter of such, and immediately ordered appetizer and entrees. 20 min wait for bread, and 30 min for ice water. Good thing we had bottle of wine from bar. After 50 min, we rec'd entrees. My date's medium filet was just shy of well done, while my medium rare flatiron steak (which I shared) was good. Hmm... Due to delay, there was no time for my date to relax a little with coffee and chocolate dessert. Waiter Scott was quite accommodating, and Manager Brad comped the filet and offered to wrap a dessert for us. Given the way the situation was addressed, we will definitely return. Pros: Wine, Waiter, Live entertainment Cons: , Food preparation, Bar too small more

Great Restaurant! 1/4/2004

We went to Roux 3 on New Year's Eve- what a find! The atmosphere was great- and the staff is really friendly- sit at the bar and ask for Larry- he's great! The food was some of the best I've had in Philadelphia- there is a tasting menu or you can have the regular menu- the duck confit is to die for!!! Overall, this restaurant is one of those rare finds where you get a lot of bang for the buck- we will definitely be back. Pros: excellent food, excellent service, great wine list more

A find !!! 11/20/2003

Roux 3 is a great place to spend your weekend and then grab a movie at the Regal. However, be sure to have a reservation at this sister restaurant of Bellaisimo in Springfield. There's a tasting menu. Our experience was very enjoyable. We came without reservations. The waitress was savvy and polite. The wife had a small Cesar salad and I chose the spring roll. Both potions were very tasty. I had the filet and it was a delicious piece of beef . My wife enjoyed the flat iron steak but thought my filet was the better. For dessert, my wife chose a chocolate selection while I tried the sorbet. The sorbet arrived in a great presentation. Each scoop was on a wafer and next to each scoop was a piece of the corresponding fruit. Our value was good. The wine selection large & prices fair. We will return. Pros: Foodie food, wait staff, atmosphere Cons: small portions more
