Wonderful Holy Spirit filled Congregation 1/7/2011

If you are a Jewish believer in Yeshua or a Gentile believer fed up with the ""Christian"" stage productions, Rosh Pina is for you. The people are warm loving, the services are wonderful and the worship team is awesome. Don't believe the negative reviews that are posted here, check it out for yourself! Services start at 10:30 every Saturday morning. I wish I lived closer and was able to attend on a regular basis. more

Not on the A list 5/7/2010

I was visiting some friends here in the states back on the fall of 2009 when they suggested we go to acquaint little congregation they knew of. Since it was cold and raining outside I figured what did I have to lose. Everything started off nicely enough. Coming from a Jewish background but not being particularly religious myself I found the service to be interesting. A few readings and a few prayers and then all hell broke loose. The band, if you call them that, came up and began to play. I understand they're not professionals but let me tell you it was disgraceful. The band was loud and loose. The drummer constantly lag and the whole effect was somewhat nauseating. The little guy leading the band kept stopping and inserting little comments and phrases between songs. After the music was over they began their Torah readings. There Rabbi spoke and I can't recall anything of substance he said. The service ended and we all went to the basement for lunch. That was great! Lots of good food. Pros: The lunch after was great Cons: You had to sit through the service to get it. more

What a farce. 11/15/2009

What a farce. For a congregation that calls itself a synagogue on the sign out front, this place is little more than a church with a bunch of Jewish want-a-be?s. Come on, who do you think you are fooling. No self respecting Jew would be caught in this place. It?s an insult to the Jewish community and devout Jews every ware. While visiting the area I was trapped into going here by a friend who had attended here a few times many years ago. She told me to expect the service to be a little strange but that the music would be spectacular. There was a guy named David that was the music leader and he was quite impressive. So being a good friend I went. Boy she could have not been more wrong. Dave was gone and the guy that took his place was not impressive, worse than that, the music was loud and repulsive. The music leader babbled on and on. I am surprised that the Jewish community in the area allows this place to continue plying its deception. I got up and left. Thanks but no thanks. Pros: NONE....... Cons: You name it! more

What a bunch of noise... 6/19/2009

Oh what a mess. The music sounds like a cat caught under a car. The worship leader thinks he's G-d. The Rabbi (if you can call him that) is worse than my Jewish mother (Oi.. what a negative nag). The old lady on the worship team looks like she's in her mid 60's but trys to dress and act like she's in her 20's. YUCK... Think I need a few months of counseling just to get that out of my mind. The people were great. Can't understand why they stick around this joint. Run do not walk to the nearest exit. Stay away if you value your hearing and your sanity. Wish they had a negative 5 stars.. That's what I give Rosh Pina in owings mills Pros: The building has more than one exit Cons: the building has an enterance more

The Service was great the Music is Very loud and very bad 1/31/2009

Loved the look and feel of this Jewish Congregation. The people were warn and inviting and the Rabbi seemed wise and warm. Pros: Great people Cons: Bad, real bad music. more

Something for everyone except music lovers. 7/21/2008

A quaint little congregation nestled in the rolling hills of Owings Mills. A lovely old building with a lot of personality, warmth and charm. The people there are warm and inviting and the Rabbi wise and soft spoken. I was really enjoying myself until the music started. It was like standing too close to the train tracks as an express train passes by at high speed. The music was just a jumble of noise. I have heard orchestra's tuning up sound better. It was like everyone was playing and no one was leading. AND LOUD!!! Oh My.. so loud. I had to leave after a few minutes because my head was throbbing. I went to the parking lot until the noise quieted down and then went back in for the rest of the service. It was as warm and charming as the building. What a shame the music had to be so poorly constructed and the volume up so loud. I asked a young man about it after the service and he said ""well it's the Rosh Pina way, the music may not be good but it's loud"" . I whole agree. It was of poor quality and very loud. Such a shame. It's rare to fund such a warm and inviting congregation. The children were wonderful so polite and cute. I would much rather be in a congregation without music or one with just a keyboard and guitar than one that is so loud and undisciplined. There was definitely some talent there, it just lacked direction. My guess would be that the man leading the group is trying to be a fig fish in a little pond. In other words has grand ideas without the ability to carry them out. I pray that G-d will send a Shepard to guide that lost flock into musical harmony. Otherwise I enjoyed my time at Rosh Pina. Next time I think I'll bring ear plugs. Pros: Beautiful setting, warm and inviting congergation, kind and wonderful Rabbi Cons: music-music-music-music more

Great service, but read on... there is a very big down side.... 7/21/2008

Let me tell you, if you are looking for a church home that has great music, great preaching and warm and wonderful people, well 2 out of 3 aint all bad. Pros: Great Rabbi, warm and wonderful congergation Cons: The music SU*KS... more noise (and I don't meen Joyful) than music. Do yourself a favor and be an hour late for services!!!! more
