While, yes, the views from Rosario are beautiful, the actual experience of staying there is frustrating.
I'd always heard Rosario was incredible. When we arrived, I was so excited. Quickly, though, I regretted making the trip there. Our room was far from the lodge, decorated in an unsophisticated 70's motif, and smelled musty. We wanted to get a couples massage, but the price was so high, it was ridiculous. My boyfriend wanted to pay for it, as part of my birthday gift, but I wouldn't consider it-- we weren't going to spend $275 on 45 minutes of massage. Any outdoors tours were a little expensive too, and quickly sold out. We were left with nothing to do for three days.
Food at Rosario was OK, but was clearly aimed at the 50+ suburban WASPS that come there. If you're vegetarian, you'll only find green salad and bread to eat. My boyfriend liked his steak, but I sat there just eating bread and an iceberg lettuce salad.
We found few things to do on the island--we were there in early September, but already, everything was closed (like kayaking). We swam in the tiny, antique pool (which was actually kind of fun), and hung out by the outdoor pool near more WASPy 50+ guys.
The only upside to Rosario? Feeding the very friendly deer and looking at the view. A fun, romantic getaway? Not so much. FInally, I turned the TV on to get some entertainment--- what's the programmed in "home" channel? CBN. The only news? Fox News.
Unless you're elderly, conservative, and love to spend money on low quality meals and expensive spac services, this place isn't much fun.
Pros: View
Cons: Overly landscaped, high prices, so-so quality, few activities
