We live around the corner from roman village, in the summer we gather the kids up and walk there, they have an awesome array of drinks, and the food is just perfect. we order the family special, its a large pizza, large salad (with house made ranch dressing) ribs (or chicken or fish) and spaghetti with meat sauce and a soda... to be delivered because its snowing right now. how much ? $28.80. we have four kids and two adults. the food is fantastic, and theres a ton of it. oh ... and the bread... cant forget the bread... more

My family lives down the street from Roman Village, and we've eaten there for as long as I can remember. Their delivery is accurate and always on time. I know sometimes when we go in, it will be so busy that we tell them to give us a table that is ""first available."" I have NEVER had bad service here, except for when they placed us in the smoking area. It's like it's the forgotten area of the restaurant. We were introducing friends to the restaurant on this one occasion, and I was very dissatisfied, but we have been going here so much, it's only a dent in the reputation they've established for us. In everyone's reviews, they comment on the bread. And the bread is definitely what everyone thinks about when they think of Roman Village. My boyfriend's family will sometime order out just a small order of bread (which is similar in size to a Krispy Kreme's dozen-donuts box.. we're a little afraid to order a ""large"" box of bread!) when they cook pasta. You can order dressing by the pint, which is really cool for parties. When eating inside, I would suggest to you to go around 7:45 / 8:00 and get a NON-SMOKING table. And if you are receiving bad service, politely let someone know! This should help. I have gone here MULTIPLE times and am also wondering how anyone could review poor service (maybe that service is no longer working there...?). I have had stellar service from everyone every time I've gone there (the managers seem aloof and uncaring, but their bus and waitstaff are FANTASTIC). The food is absolutely, 100% the best Italian food i've had outside of my own home (raised in an Italian household) and I am PICKY about my food (if you think Olive Garden is good, your taste buds are probably not primed enough for actually good food). Wonderful soups and salads, great cocktails, delicious pasta with many choices, AMAZING deserts. The best part of this place? The unending bowls of the most addicting bread you will ever have. It's not unusual for a waitress to have boxes ready for your main course, based on how good this bread is and HOW MUCH YOU WILL EAT. With a wonderful ambiance, periodic live music (quiet and lovely so as not to overpower conversation), the only drawback about this place is the location. You honestly will question where you're going (it's in an old industrial section of Dearborn in an old brick building with strangely oblong parking lot), but the beautiful restaurant with addicting, consistently fantastic food will steer you away from any qualms. This place will give you cravings. I love their bread sticks and ranch, I don't know anyone who thinks otherwise. They have lots of staff that come around at all the right times to check on you. I don't think I have ever waited for anything from pop refills to the bill. They are clean and my favorite dishes include their Greek salad, fish and chips (yes really, cause its real cod fillets and smashing tartar sauce), great pizza, and this pasta with red and white sauce mixed. I read these previews before entering this restaurant and I was shocked with how wrong almost everyone's description of ""slow service"" or ""horrible servers"" were. My service was incredible. From the time I was greeted at the door to the time I was walking out into the parking lot (where a busboy ran out to hand me my phone I had left behind). Our server was polite and very knowledgeable of the menu. Being it my first time, I had many questions of the menu the server (Emily, I think) was very happy to explain. I was even more impressed when she explained to me that they had a larger wine list. The bottle selection wasn't the largest of options, however they had several bottles I wanted or would recommend with this style of dinner. The food was indescribably incredible. The large portions, the fresh tasting everything. Lets not forget the bread! Oh, my God! If you told me I had one menu item to pick as my favorite I would tell you everything in this place, but the bread was out of this world. You don't even have to put butter on it being so soft and flavorful. The menu is so large, we ended up ordering four dinners so that we could sample as much as possible. We didn't even put a dent in the menu nor did we put a dent into the large portions they gave to us (Did you know their soups or salads are included with every meal?). Everything tasted unique yet exquisite at the same time. The veal osso bucco, so juicy and tender you could eat it with a spoon. The chicken caccatorre, the pepper aromas give this simple dish its authenticity. Let's not forget the home made pasta dishes, fresh pasta being made as soon as you walk in the door. You could really tell they cook from the heart. I would expect the flavors of this restaurant to wow me with over priced menus that chefs and restaurant owners expect me to pay simply because they make something palette able. My wife and I eat out all the time. I also used to work for several restaurants for many years to help put me through law school. Eating out is not only an everyday occurrence for us, but it is also a hobby we both enjoy. In short, the best experience I have ever had in a restaurant. My husband and I have been going to the Roman Village for about 15 years now. There have been times when the service has been bad and we would take a break for a couple of months, but, we always go back. The food CAN'T BE BEAT! I love their Italian Sausage Casserole and Stuffed Shells. And, of course, the bread. I just wish I had that recipe. We have tried Antonio's a couple of times, but, even though they are family to Roman Village, they don't have the same menu. My favorite items are not on their menu. I also went there for a luncheon in their banquet room and had the worse service I have ever had anywhere. Each item was brought to our tables individually in about 15 minute intervals. It took us almost 2 hours to eat. There was about 75 angry people that day! Anyway, I just want to let you know that I recommend the Roman VIllage highly and plan on going there tonight. Roman Village & Antonios have by far the best food. Prices are reasonable. The Lasagna is great. Huge Portions, lots of cheese, meat sauce and baked cheese on top. You will not leave hungry. The fresh bread that they bring to the table is unbelieveable. it is so good!!!! Youll never taste anything this good. The Ranch dressing here is great too, They do charge for everything, (Ranch, Marinara, extra cheese) but its worth it. As with any Restaurant, you might get some crappy service. I have had terrible service a few times here myself, but the food is so awesome that it doesnt stop me from coming back! haha If you live near this place, definately make a stop to either Roman Village or Antonios, you wont be disappointed!!!!!! My wife and I have gone to Roman Village four times in the past three months. We have only been served twice! The first time we were not served, we had arrived at 9:00 PM on a Saturday night. We sat at our table for thirty minutes waiting for someone to take our order. Although there was only one other couple in the dining area, busboys and servers were walking in and out of the room, clearing tables and laying place settings. We noticed that the other couple, who had arrived before us were not being served either. They eventually got up and left after one of them went to the bar to pay their tab. We waited for ten minutes and left. On our way out a young girl bid us a goodnight and we informed her we never received anything but a glass of water. She was alarmed and muttered an apology as we went out the door. \r \r The second time we were refused service was 8:45 PM on a Sunday evening. The Roman Village website states that they are open until 10:00 PM. We were greeted by a large man with a mustache who rudely informed us that the ""Village"" was closing at 9:00 PM and refused to seat us. He did not even offer an apology. We left and we will never give them another chance. The sister restaurant of Roman Village, Antonio's in Dearborn Heights, is no better. There you may be seated, but being served is an adventure. Sometimes everything comes at once and sometimes you have to remind the servers to bring you your food. Both restaurants need to be boycotted by people who want reliable, polite service. We love this place. It is a little far for us to drive but still make it out at least once a month. The food is fantastic. Just awesome. We've never had a bad meal. The price is right too. Definitely cheaper than a dinner at say, Pizza Hut, for example. The house salad is our favorite... just the basics: lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, and olives but the house vinagrette makes it amazing. The Pizza is very good but the pasta is GREAT! I'm pretty sure it must be homemade. I know the bread is-- and its Hot and Fresh everytime. \r \r Its a family restaurant (as well as family owned) which means things don't come out as fast as they would at a coporate joint, but the great food and reasonable prices are worth the wait. We think the staff is great, they are all very friendly, although sometimes they are a little difficult to communicate with as most seem to speak English as a second language. Roman Village restaurant is horrible. On one visit I substituted the tossed salad for the Ceasar. When I got my bill I saw an additional charge of $1.75 that I was never informed about. I asked the waitress about it and she said that the Ceasar was extra. I asked to speak to the manager because I would've liked being informed of such a charge up front. The manager was completely unapologetic for not informing me of price difference and for the price difference not being on the menu. His response to me was ""Ceasar dressing is expensive. You don't operate a restaurant so you don't know the cost."" I vowed never to go back but I forgot and went today. Today, I ordered the usual with a tossed salad (the Ceasar is not good enough to pay an extra $1.75). When the salad came there was a DEAD FLY in it. I notified the server who never apologized, and took the fly, I mean salad away, after she served all 10 of my co-workers theirs and took additional drink orders. I asked to speak to a manager. The same idiot from my first experience came over and said ""This isn't the first or I'm sure the last time I'll hear this. I'm sorry."" They brought me a new salad but I was afraid to eat it. THEN I was served my meal 25 minutes after my coworkers were served theirs. My coworker sitting next to me ordered the exact same meal but was served with the rest of the table. When the server came I asked if my meal would be free due to the horrible experience and she said she would talk to her idiot, I mean manager. While she did this I decided not to eat the meal. The only thing they did for me was take $2 off my bill. I asked the manager if $2.00 was the charge for flies these days and why he felt ok charging me for a meal I didn?t eat. His response was: ?You should expect this is restaurants. Lettuce grows on the floor. I already said sorry.? I guess he thought that it was acceptable for me, a 7 month pregnant woman, to eat unclean food in restaurants, and that I should pay for it. If you like Italian, you will love Roman Village. The food is terrific and the bread is outstanding. The only downfall is the service. The waitstaff is extremely personable yet slow. The food is worth the slow service. more

From terrific Italian dishes to simply pizza, Roman Village is fantastic. The breadsticks come to your table hot and fresh when you order. The dinners are large enough to take home and have some the next day. The only downfall is the service. There are only 2 servers that I would consider great.
