BAD Business Management and Horse Care 10/9/2011

I went to Rolling Hills Ranch with a Meetup group. I was unable, in good conscious, to ride the horses. It was plain to see that they were not well taken care of. I use to volunteer at a rehab barn for rescued horses and our horses had more personality and spirit and better grooming than the horses at Rolling Hills Ranch. All of the horses will have to, more than likely, have their manes and tails shaved as they are unsalvageable. Horses were allowed to walk back to the barns unattended even though there were children hanging around. At one time a horse returned to the barn riderless and then shortly afterwards two people walked back. Neither of the staff of 3 went out to check what was wrong. The handling of the horses to riders was more like an assembly line. One horse went in, one horse went out. No one was matched to horse. The horses acted like defeated, sedated, robots. more

This place is a joke. 8/29/2009

Have rented a horse there before...freaking dangerous place! Take a look at the hacks they can't possibly look happy to anyone. They are sickly looking. This place is a joke. They are only in it for the money, nothing else. Ship one sick hack out and bring in another. I am so so sure every horse dreams to go to this place to be ridden day in and day out by customers with no break all season long - I just pray they all survive the next epidemic that comes through there. Pros: There are horses there....I guess that is one Cons: Pretty much none....it's a hell hole. more

HORRIBLE PLACE!!! 7/28/2009

I boarded there for a few short months and could not get out of there fast enough!!!! The people are clueless, the care of the horses is less than desirable and the faclities are deplorable! The hack/trail horses are the saddest horses I have seen in a long time!!!! They beat these horses into the ground day after day. Thankfully it has been a cooler summer for them since they all are in poor condition. If you care about your horses or these poor trail horses please please stay away from this place!!!! Cons: There is not enough space to list all of them!!!!!! more

Great for first timers 6/7/2009

My wife and I went there for the first time this weekend. She has ridden before while I have never been. We had a lot of fun and thought the staff did a great job. We encountered several other groups, one that had a rider that was being mean to a horse, but the staff responded responsibly. We plan on going back many more times this summer and have already recommended Rolling Hills to our friends. Pros: various skill levels Cons: can't think of any more

Great Intro to Horses 3/23/2009

Rolling Hills is a great place to begin to learn about horses. They do a very good job of matching a horse to your level of ability, and for the return customers they will test you by gradually giving you more advanced horses as you build up your skill and comfort level. more

Horses shouldn't live a life like this 7/20/2008

Yes, I will admit; if you have never ridden a horse or know much about them, Rolling Hills would be a fun time for all. As a knowledgeable horse person I would have to disagree. The horses used at the facility are run and run in the extreme summer heat. This is not good for the health of a horse just as it would not be good for health of a human. I do not feel that any animal needs to but put in the type of situation that the Rolling Hills trail horses are put into. Cons: too many to list more

Mentally Challenged not Welcome 7/2/2008

I have ridden at the ranch 3 times. Today was my last. I took my 21 year old daughter who is mentally challenged for the second time today. The first time we went we had a great time. The guide we had was very nice and helpful. Today the manager spoke to her in a very rude and disrespectful manner so we left. If you have or know someone who is mentally challenged I don't recommend riding at Rolling Hills. The manager and owner are both in dire need of sensitivity training. I don't know if you can be taught human decency and compassion but if so they should both sign up for a class. Obviously we will never go back. more

Great Public Riding - Great Boarding Facilities - Great Trails 6/2/2007

A great place to begin horse riding, especially if you and your friends want to make a day of it. Get a bunch of friends together and head there for a day of fun. The cost is negligible: $20 per hour. And you get to ride western around the fields and woods. Pros: Boarding - Trails - Public Riding - Rescues Abandoned Horses Scheduled for Slaughter more
