not gonna lie , there is abito a smell but its nothin compaired to stuff ive smelled before. got used to it within my first day. this is a party goers hostle* we sleep between 2 am to 9am or later. party from 5pm to 2am or later and most of the time keep the long binges quiet after 2. this is a mostly irish dominant hostle so that should explane the other posters issues.... their not irish*** >:P in the past 3 years theres always been atleast 2 guitars in the building and the bonfire singalongs of old and new wave are great fun. work in the area is easy to get if you come early in the summer IE middle may to middle /early june. dont bother commin if youve not got a good since of humor or laid back happy attitude, we dont want yah. there are afew bunks that need some tlc and at the beginning of each summer they are usually in good up keep and a stolen cynderblock or 2 from a new beach house along the beach will suffice if your bed does konk out. afew things to know and be ready to get when you come here. from my experience* 1 window/box fan: get 1 or more depending on the room you get. because its a beach residence there arent A/C units and a good breeze and airflow is always nice. 2 a portable ipod speaker system is something i see every room buy by july 4th. 3bring your own sheets / its the beach, your gonna be doo tired to wipe all the sand away by the time you get to bed so its all on you to keep the sand outa da bunks or sleep with it!! sleeping bags are good warmth but hard to clean. 4 some way to not loose your key no matter what ( lanyard ,wristband, odd piercing *Oh yes its been done!*) little movies are filmed around the hostle and are usually very funny and good memories to make. bring some guitars and ill bet you youll get as many music videos you want. there is a large video library at the entrance and a tv room with dvd/vcr player rogers a generally great/nice guy you just have to take it all with good humor and a open mind. just dont give him too much trouble hahaha. all this being said, ive got no place representing the hostle im in no way part of it, i live a thrown ukulele away around the corner and just happen to work with the j1'rs who come each year. if yer 17/~27/ this is a great summer spot to work and make good friends/memories p.s. if ye work at Kojacks get yer money as often as possible, also keep a log of your hours and mark when your paid. cheers see you soon more

GO ELSEWHERE!!! 5/16/2010

This Hostel is located in Beautiful Mission Beach. Located above a 24 hour taco shop be prepare to never sleep. If the bars getting out at 2 am or the sirens of police cars and firetrucks don't put you to sleep, the owner filming his ""movies"" and the broken beds, complete with bed bugs will always do the trick. And if that doesn't, the homeless in the morning begging for change and screaming will. There is cat hair everywhere. The smells of cat urine will curl your nose hairs. The owner never knocks to come into your room and cracks the worst jokes ever. He will force you to watch vintage movies and his own home films all the time. Go To the other Hostel in Pacific Beach. It's a 720 compared to this train wreck. This place is a train ride to hell and Roger is the engineer. Pros: By Beach Cons: Beyond dirty. Broken stuff everywhere. Creepy owner. more
