The Scene
The space is smaller than it ought to be because it was cut in half to make room for Assistant Director Lisa Berman's other project, Sculpture to Wear. Regardless, the remaining room is put to good use, and Berman maintains a second space just across the parking lot, out of which he runs Santa Monica Auctions, a relaxed alternative to the stuffy Sotheby's and Christie's vibe.
The Goods
One of the major artists Berman represents is Bill Barminski, the mixed-media artist and pop-culture dissector who was one of the many artists featured in Absolut Vodka's art ad campaign. His work is indicative of Berman's taste in both painting and other media. Also on frequent display is the work of one of the world's preeminent glass artists, Bertil Vallien. The gallery has also featured works by Ed Ruscha, Andy Warhol and Keith Haring.
