Very popular place 12/10/2011

Yes, it is crowded, and yes, the food is unique and presented well with a great taste. I have been there several times - the food is fresh and tasty - love their scallops and the pork ! Once I went with children there and the staff was always polite and courteous to us. It's out of the way in an commercial looking center - however, the atmosphere inside is fancy too. The price is higher for those that are looking for a slightly inexpensive place (this will not be your spot) Realize that it's a restaurant you don't go to all the time - only as a treat! pleasant dining experience! more

Roaring Fork - great happy hour 7 days a week 7/19/2010

have been twice in the last week. can't believe i waited so long to visit. i love the atmosphere and the food is delicious. The guac and margaritas are highly recommended (and part of happy hour). We also tried it for dinner and food was worth the price. I had flat iron steak - fantastic. I would subsititue the horseradish potato salad not my favorite, but my husband enjoyed it. He had the pork with rice and beans. also delicious. If you have room for dessert, go with the lava cake. Yummy! Pros: great guac and margaritas Cons: slow service more

Value For Money 11/26/2008

6 of us had dinner there last night and the food and service were terrific as usual. The Lamb Shanks were as good as I have had anywhere and the others were lucky enough to get the last of the Pork Carnitas for that evening. Prices and wine list are reasonable and this is one restaurant that when you leave you feel you have value for your money. Pros: Parking, Service, Value, Food Presentation Cons: A Little Noisy, 45 minute drive from my home more

Trust the Concierge 2/25/2008

Wow! What a great recommendation! A colleague and I visited Roaring Fork on a concierge's recommendation. It was a fantastic meal. We arrived at the time of our reservation, and we were seated promptly. Service was friendly, professional, and efficient. Pros: Food, service, atmosphere Cons: None we saw more

Great dining spot! 10/2/2007

This was our 2nd trip to Roaring Fork. The ambiance, the service and food are all wonderful. Our waiter, Dan, was most attentive without being pesty. Two of the diners chose selections from the appetizer menu for their meals, while the other 2 had entrees. more

No Longer the Place to Go 5/16/2007

I had heard so many good things about Roaring Fork. Met several business associates for dinner last night. Started with drinks in the ""Saloon"". Very fitting for Old Town Scottsdale. The atmosphere in the Saloon was appropriate and the drinks were good. Proceeded to our table via the front entrance. Kind of strange, but didn't think much of it at the time. Pros: Location, bar Cons: food, menu, specials, view of parking lot, mens restroom very far from the restaurant more

Green Chilie Mac and Cheese and Fluffy Creme Brulee, plus the great bread basket! 11/3/2006

A verery comfortable and expansive setting, (Rocky Mountain Hunting Lodge meets Scottsdale Office Building) melds with the tasty comfort food: scrumptiouis short ribs, exqusite duck and green chilie mac and cheese. Fantastic bread basket. Followed by suprizingly good desserts accented by professional friendly service. Reasonable pricing too, so after several visits, I still want to return for more. Pros: comfortable setting and professional service Cons: can be a wait for your reservation more

Great southwestern cuisine and friendly staff. 6/4/2006

I was in town on business and dining alone in the bar. I was craving southwestern cuisine and was delighted with my choice. I had the ahi tuna which was prepared to perfection. Very large tuna steak and the cut was very lean. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and they had a great wine selection. This restaurant is more rustic, which compliments the cuisine. more

LOVED IT! 1/16/2006

I was in town for the Rock n Roll Marathon and picked this place for our celebratory post-race dinner. We could not have been happier with my choice!!! The service was outstanding...our server - Leann - was helpful, articulate, professional and a real pleasure. The food was outstanding as well. Be sure to try a side order of the green chile macaroni and cheese if you meal doesn't come with it. Ambiance was great...very cozy and inviting but still casual and unpretentious. more

Don't go for the service. 6/5/2005

I decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday. What a mistake. We were early for our reservation and were told to wait in the ""saloon"" area for about 20 minutes. Where we did enjoy great wine and a scrumptious appetizer. An hour and a half later we were taken to a table. After sitting down it took approx. another 23 minutes for a waiter to even acknowledge our existence. When he did decide to come to table there was no Hello-I apologize- nothing. ""What would you like to eat?"" was all he said. The manager did take notice and apologize after the waiter had walked away. On our way home we got better service from the circle K attendant. I don't think good food could ever make up for such lousy service. Pros: Food, Wine Cons: Service, Crowded, Long wait more

Overrated salt lick with (bad) attitude 5/25/2005

Burger is dried out, salty. Staff act like they are doing you a favor. more

Wonderful Experience 5/13/2005

I am from out of town and after reading some of the reviews I hesitated to go here, but decided to try it anyway. I sat outside, had a beautiful view of the sunset behind the mountains, and the food was great. The filet mignon rivaled any large famous steakhouse and the the green chile macaroni is to die for. It is a bit expensive, but worth it! Pros: outdoor dining, great steak more

What burgers? 2/24/2003

After reading the glowing reviews, a group of us decided we must try this place. We did not know about the fact that the burgers were only available in the bar, and were seated on the patio. When we asked about them, we were told that the only items available were ""on the menu"". OK, I tried the scallop salad and it was fabulous. Nothing else we ordered was up to scratch however, and the tortilla soup looked (and tasted) like a bowl of enchilada sauce. Now my friends are not only disappointed, but mad at me! The service however was excellent. Had to look hard for the ""cowboy"" anything. Maybe in the bar? Sigh!! Pros: Great service, Fabulous patio more
