Best

I went here for a quick bite to eart and ended up having a great dinner. Their artichoke dip was fantastic and I really loved their crab cakes.

Worst

I normally don't write in all caps, but DON""T EAT HERE. The place was nearly empty on a Friday night, which should have been the first clue. However, my boyfriend and I decid...

Service was fast and good. 4/7/2011

Well, I guess we're the only two people who like this place, according to the reviews. We wanted gumbo, and gumbo we got! It was spicy just like we like it. Service was fast and good. more

Really good food! 4/4/2011

We ate breakfast here two different mornings during our visit to New Orleans.  Really good food when you want a little more than just a Cafe du Monde beignet.  The staff was friendly and the food was hardy and very good. more

Good place 3/28/2011

I was actually reading all the 1 star reviews for this place while waiting for my dinner. Our waiter was fast, courteous, and very polite. The food was good too. Had the Cajun Sampler. I mean it was overpriced like they all were, but it was overall as decent a place as I've had in the Big Easy. more

Very good 3/24/2011

3 Koños. Very good fried pickles. I had the shrimp & crab meat salad and it was very good. more

Excellent! 3/23/2011

Service was good. Server was polite, friendly and attentive. When asked about choices on the menu, she was helpful, friendly, and took the time to answer our questions. A bit on the pricey side, but the location of our seating was excellent as we were able to enjoy and observe the activities taking place around Jackson Square. If you dine here and order a meal and soft drinks, no alcohol and no appetizers, be prepared to pay $30.00 for a service for two. If you add a tip 15-18% and of course you should, you're paying about $35.00 for a lunch. Food was very filling, more than you can eat in one sitting, in my opinion. more

wonderful time 3/21/2011

had a wonderful time here and despite it being a saturday morning my serever mr. ken was very attentive more

I'd definitely come back! 2/3/2011

I'm shocked by all of the bad reviews on this place. I came here with a group of friends for breakfast and I thought it was great. The jambalaya omelette was just the right amount of spicy and I loved it. The service was a little slow, but with the line going outside the door, they were doing the best they could. I'd definitely come back! more

Good quality food 2/3/2011

Tourist corner at Jackson Square, but food was very good. Rajun Cajun Omelet resembled a good quality spanish omelet. Service was good. Open air. more

would go back over and over 2/3/2011

Wonderful! 2/1/2011

My wife and two children went on the evening of August 5th (Wednesday) and we thought it was great. My 5 year old daughter said it was the best shrimp she ever ate. My wife had barbequed shrimp and it was also great. I had a mufaletto (sp?) that was very good. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgable. Wonderful experience! more

food was good 1/24/2011

Decided to eat here at the last minute for dinner. The food was good, we had crab cakes (which is actually an appetizer) with salad and I had jambalaya. We drank Abita beer which is a local beer. The jambalaya was nice and spicy and filling. The crab cakes were good and the salad was average. We basically walked in and got a table (4:30 pm on a Sunday) with no wait. The staff was friendly and attentive without hovering. The view out the windows is of Jackson Square or Decatur Street so that is nice. There are over 1300 restaurants in New Orleans, I have eaten in probably 40 and would encourage people to eat here. The price was about average for a meal in New Orleans although you can find cheaper places and much more expensive places. I have seen other reviews that raked this place over the coals but I saw nothing to not give this place a five star rating, although I would probably have given it a 4.5 more

Wonderful experience 1/12/2011

I can't believe the other reviews are of the same restaurant I went to. My wife and two children went on the evening of a Wednesday and we thought it was great. My 5 year old daughter said it was the best shrimp she ever ate. My wife had barbequed shrimp and it was also great. I had a mufaletto (sp?) that was very good. Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgable. Wonderful experience! more

One of our favorite places 1/12/2011

This is one of our favorite places!!  Best omelets ever!  We go there every time we are in New Orleans.  Great location and amazing food!! more

Manger is nasty/ugly- terribly rude- white trash! 9/9/2010

The tall and thin manager is very nasty. I only ordered an iced tea to go and asked the manager for a lid. (he was standing along the wall) He told me NO, we don't have lids. I informed him I got one yesterday at the bar. He then says ""no, they are too expensive"". I told him I would never return to this establishment even for a beverage and he just shrugged his shoulders and said ""I don't care"". He looked like he just crawled out from a sewer!! OWNERS: If you want people to spend their hard earned cash in your city, then be pleasant and accommodating. If not, then don't cry when a natural disaster hits and you don't have a job! more

This restaurant is RIDICULOUS 7/11/2010

If I could rate NEGATIVE stars I would!! This ""dinning experience"" couldn't have been worse if Chef Ramsey were yelling at us.. but no it was the MANAGER!! at least with chef Ramsey the food would have been cooked to perfection!! The food was GROSS... they have the NERVE to CHARGE for water... To start with we were seated right away.. (good) .. table was sticky.. (bad) server took our drink order.. someone brought them a few minutes later (neutral) we didn't see our waitress until 35 mins later!! until after repeated asking to wait staff to send our server.. (and there were 3 of them standing by the kitchen) (totally bad) she finally took our order.. didn't see our food for over another 45 mins later. Oh and I didn't have my drink refilled this WHOLE TIME! then We get the food... my hamburger (something few people can botch) was COLD... with a little piece of wilted lettuce and tomato.. (no dressing for the burger I guess???) and the fries were not seasoned A BIT!! and they were cold too... I asked for Ketchup it took 10 mins to get it.. and the bottle had 2 tbsp of ketchup... and thats pushing it! At this point I asked to speak to the manager .. WOW Thats when it went form terrible to YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! HE was yelling at ME! Like I was a 2 year old having a tantrum or something... SCREAMING telling us that they cook to order and the server had another table blah blah blah .. and When I told him my complaints he didn't even OFFER to fix it.. he just said i get what i got .. I was like in SHOCK and If i wasn't pregnant and totally hungry I would have gotten up and left but SHEESH seriously guy ? When I FINALLY ate my food .. the fries were unseasoned and plain and cold... The hamburger was not seasoned AT ALL .. like crappy beef slabbed on the grill.. dry and nasty... bun was hard and not good at all!! My daughter had EXTREMELY under cooked raw catfish and more nasty fries.. My friend ordered the sampler all UNSEASONED... and the eggplant was gross too NEVER EAT HERE!! Pros: Open tables... thats ABOUT IT!!! Cons: JERK SHRILL MANAGER.. TERRIBLE food... HORRID service!! more

Great Food, Friendly Service, Can't Wait to Go Back. 4/11/2008

I have been to The River's Edge twice and have been very pleased both times. Yes, sometimes the wait for your drink was long, but the restaurant was packed and our waitress couldn't have been nicer. My friend and I ordered the ""bloody edge,"" a house-made bloody mary that was fabulous - loads of blended garlic and nice and spicy. We shared the crab cake appetizer which was seasoned very well. It had shredded crabmeat (not fishy at all) with chopped peppers, onions, and I believe parsley. The outside was fried nice and brown and crispy, while the inside was nice and hot. For our main meal, we had a New Orleans sampler that consisted of red beans and rice, shrimp creole, etouffe, seafood gumbo, and bread pudding, and also the pasta dish (Pasta Marianne?) which was a thin linguine noodle in a cream sauce with crispy chicken. Both were excellent.\r \r The next time we went was for breakfast. My friend had the denver omelette and I again had the crab cakes. Our food arrived promptly and was delicious and hot.\r \r Both times our server was very friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant and very much look forward to visiting it again on my next trip to The Big Easy. more

The worst table service I ever experienced! 1/6/2008

This was the worst restaurant experience of my life!!! We were on our way to Cafe du Monde and the line was outrageous so we went to River's Edge. The line to get in was short and I know why... As we were waiting for a table, one of the customers that was leaving made a comment on his way out...""don't do it...don't go in there."" Well, I know why he said that...the service was awful! We finally got seated after watching the waitstaff walk by uncleaned and empty tables several times. We ordered our drinks and ordered our food. I waited for very long periods of time before seeing anyone to ask to get my coffee refilled. And, we noticed that everyone in the restaurant had drinks at one point and no food at their tables. It was the oddest thing. Everyone including us was waiting for almost an hour before getting food. I ordered eggs benedict which were okay and my friends ordered shrimp poor boys which they absolutely hated. We were at the restaurant for over 2 hours which is very unexceptable for that type of a restaurant. The waitstaff was very unfriendly and extremely unmotivated and slow. The kicker is that they charge an 18% gratuity on all checks. This might be why they are unmotivated...they get tips no matter what. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND going to this restaurant. Pros: Ambience Cons: service and food more

Food was delicious flies were horrible 5/21/2006

My husband and I just had lunch there and I must say the food and service were both terrific! We had the stuffed mushrooms and cheese sticks for appitizers and tuna and louisiana pasta with chicken. It was wonderful. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was great. One problem: there were flies everywhere. So many that it was really bothering us! Landing on the drinks and food. Pros: great food, friendly staff, reasonable proces Cons: Flies more
