Great Happy Hour! 6/4/2008

So we stopped in here while bar hopping, they have a decent Happy Hour selection from 3-5pm. We had the fried wontons which were excellent. My Dad & I had the Mai Tai, which was the best we've had yet, and My Mom got a Mango Margarita she's still dreaming about. Need I say more? They have an excellent view, the cars below didn't bother us. I personally, have selected hearing - so I drown out the cars as I'm looking at the beautiful ocean! It really can't get any better, if only we had made it here earlier, we got there 10 minutes before Happy Hour was ending and we were looking for a cheap, but drunken filled night. The service was a little bit slow, but all in all, Rio's was great and I highly recommend it! more

Best in Kona 8/5/2006

We felt the service was poor in most restaurants in Kailua but Rio's blew us away with how friendly and attentive their staff were. Thanks so much Katie! Good luck at college! The food is great (walu get the walu!) the drinks are great and the view is...you guessed it, great! Pros: Food, drinks, service Cons: let me think about it a moment and get back to you more

Seafood in Hawaii 5/29/2006

One of the toughest things to find in Kona is great seafood. The kitchen team at Rio's puts together some amazing dishes. (hint - ask for the chef, he'll come out to see you). Had the walu with roasted peppers, portabella mushrooms and balsamic reduction. Absolutely to die for. Service can be spotty, but drinks have improved. Great view...only 11/9/2004

Great view, but the food was marginal and the tropical drinks (watered down) were a real disappointment. They touted their great (and expensive) crab cakes....but they tasted like they were premade somewhere else and flown in. So, have a beer, enjoy the view, but that's about it.... more
