WE LOVE OUR NEW HOME 10/18/2011

Having owned serveral homes in the past we must share this wonderful experience when we purchased a home from Richmar Builders two years ago. The quailty of construction is excellent and their follow up from their service department are above and beyond our expectations. We truly recommend anyone to purchase a home from Richmar Builders. more

Addendum 1/16/2011

Sagging roofs, more leaks, recurring shorts in the outlets. Not to mention further nail pops in the linoleum, drafts in all the rooms and siding that continually blows off. Did I mention the decking that looks like it was installed 25 years ago. Sadly, this home is only 6 years old and its had more issues than our previous home that was a 60 year old farm house. We purchased our first ""Brand New Home"" at the Villas. New construction, got to pick everything, got to see it being built. The dream became a nightmare as soon as we did the walk through. Missing lights in the bathrooms, missing shelves in the closets and broken doors, cabinets and trim. Since the walk through it only went down hill. Even though the shelving was on the work order list, they fought us for a week until they put in left over pieces of wood that had stickers and crap stuck to the paint in our closets. From there it got worse! Leak over the stove due to faulty plumbing in the shower. Nail pops through the kitchen linoleum withing the first 6 months, when they came to fix it they actually punctured my water line in my kitchen and caused a major leak in my basement which required 1/3 of the ceiling to be replaced. We've also had 4 window leaks of which only 2 they have addressed. The first 2 were in the basement and took months to be resolved. The others are in the upstairs and they have stated that although they feel they have fixed they outside issue, they won't address the moldy drywall on the inside. In addition we've had a leak in our garage which they continue to say was due to inclement weather and not construction, however they have sent notices in the past year to only a handful of association members regarding this issue, and only the ones that had leaks. Bottom line, these builders do HORRIBLE work. I would never recommend them to anyone, and can honestly say that this was the worst home buying experience ever! I have barely touched the tip of the iceberg with my complaints, but I can honestly say that this company does not stand behind its work and every problem has required us to fight tooth and nail to get resolved even thought they were clearly a result of the builders inadequacy. more

Poor construction 4/22/2009

I have had many problems from sagging floors, to foundation being poured incorrectly, repaired after interior wall was completed. They have been corrected after many calls but floors still aren't level and drafts are so many that the house can't be warmed without roasting on second floor. Stove has a power failure 75% of time the oven is used. Stove company has replaced many parts and says it has to be wiring to the stove. Richmar refuses to do anything. Upgrade in carpet and after three years, wrinkles come and go. DeSouza writes how proud they are of their developments but won't even respond to calls or letters.\r Pros: Love the floorplan and location Cons: Poor workmanship, slow or non-existant help for repairs more
