Loved it!!!! 11/5/2011

My husband and I went last night with some friends. First I love the bar it is intimate and warm. I had a cosmo and it was perfect in a chilled glass. Dinner was excellent and the steak was high quality and cooked to perfection. Ended with Bananas Foster cooked at the table and that was soooo good. It was nice to have pleasant staff and a great table and the owner came over to see if we are happy and we were and I would highly recommend it. It is a fabulous night out. more

Great experience, food and service had by all. 10/16/2011

Our first try there and everyone loved it. Great menu, a little expensive, but well worth it. Look forward to venturing back. more

Wonderful Experience! 3/12/2011

We took our office staff to Rey's for dinner on a Saturday night. The service and food were excellent! Our waitstaff, Tom and Kelly were attentive and right on cue. There were 12 for dinner and not one complaint. We had appetizers, salads, entree's and dessert. If you are looking for a place to have a romanic dinner, or perhaps to celebrate a special occasion, look no further than Rey's. more

5 Star Restaurant with 5 Star Food 3/1/2011

My fiance and I recently had dinner at Rey's and had a wonderful experience. After ordering a divine bottle of Dynamite, she and I continued on to fabulous entrees provided by our excellent server, Jason. Jason knew exactly when to come by, and she and our conversation was never interrupted. He put in our order exactly as if we'd done it ourselves. I am very picky about my steak (medium rare, and not a bit overdone) and he brought it out cooked perfectly and at the temperature that I enjoy it. She and I had such a great time we made plans with the lovely director to have our wedding reception at the restaurant. more

Never been treated better! 3/1/2011

I have eaten at Rey's too many times to count. Rey has provided me with food for parties at my home, Christina has accomodated exceptional parties in the private rooms in the restaurant, and I've had personal, prompt and perfect service! I've never had a better steak, tuna or pork chops. If you are in to fab food and stellar service, look no further than Rey's. You will not be dissapointed; I've never been. more

Setting the standard 3/1/2011

Rey's is one of the best restaurants in the Raleigh/Cary area. The meals are perfect (size/quality/preparation) and the wine list is deep with excellent choices well priced and a helpful, knowledgeable staff to make the right choice. I have enjoyed several events at Rey's and all have rated excellent on my scale. Rey's is setting a high standard for other restaurants to reach. I have seen Rey himself at each of my visits. He takes the time to talk to each guest and and I have seen him on numerous occasions preparing flaming desserts at a guest's table! It is nice to see an owner taking such an active role in his restaurant establishment. I can really tell that he takes pride in his restaurant and his staff does the same. more

Very enjoyable experience. 7/22/2010

Have dined here since the days of Ruth's Chris. Rey is an exceptional host and pleasantly sees that everyone is happy. Nice, yet not stuffy. The bar is quite casual and there is ample seating as well. Pros: Attentive and knowledgeable staff, Rey Cons: Easy to drive past. more

Poor service, so-so food 2/20/2009

I wish I could say that we had a great time at Rey's. Unfortunately, the service was poor and the food mediocre at best. I contacted the manager following our visit but received no response. I had expected at least "I'm sorry for your experience" but alas no contact. In this economy, restaurants and other service providers should make an effort to keep their customers happy. Here's a copy of the email I sent to the Rey's manager: I am writing to inform you of a poor dining experience we had at your restaurant on 2/13/09. We had reservations for a party of 5 at 6pm. We arrived just before 6 pm and were seated promptly. The host led us to the table, pulled out one chair, and then walked off with nary a word. We didn?t dwell on this too long but we?ve been accustomed to being welcomed, chairs pulled back for the ladies (2 in our party), and a little more courtesy. Throughout the evening, we noticed that he seated other parties quite differently and pulled back the chairs for most members of the group. Each of us had a different entree ?pork chops, pork loin, chicken piccata, French quarter chicken, and eggplant. The eggplant was simply bland, the French quarter chicken mediocre, and the rest of the food was ok. When we didn?t order an appetizer or soup, salad, our server?s expression and demeanor changed from being friendly and pleasant to being borderline dismissive. We decided against desert and his dismissive became, in my opinion, rude and discourteous. He yanked the dessert menus off the table and came back with the check. The manner in which he gave us the check was quite rude ? we had expected a ?Thanks for coming; I?ll take that when ready? or similar. Instead, without saying a word, the check was thrown on the table and he walked away ? w/out a word. At that point we were pretty disappointed with the attitude and left a tip appropriate for what we felt was a poor level of service at any restaurant and especially one like Rey?s. Pros: Great location, ample parking Cons: Poor service, hi-brow attitude, so-so food more

What a wonderful time! 1/10/2009

My sister and I took our mom here for her birthday. It was the first time any of us had been to Rey's. The atmosphere was very nice, and the service was outstanding. I know a lot of people like the fact that Rey seats people and goes to every table to see how things are, but to me I think it's a little much. If you know your food is good the only time you need to interact with customers is when they make eye contact with you or have left a lot of food on their plate, indicating that something is wrong. The French Quarter Chicken was so tender and the cheesy filling just melts in your mouth. I ordered Garlic Mashed Potatoes which were cold when they got to the table, but everything else was so delicious I didn't bother to complain or send them back. My sister ordered the creme brulee for dessert which apparently was amazing, because she wouldn't let anyone else even taste it! I will definitely come back to Rey's. Pros: Very relaxing atmosphere more

First Reviews...Rey's is outstanding 12/29/2008

We went to Rey's last weekend with a group of five couples for a night out with friends. For most of the group, this was our first time at Rey's. The experience was top notch from the 'get go'. A friendly gentleman wearing a festive, yet tasteful, holiday tie opened the door with a smile...the experience only got better from there. The atmosphere in the main room is classic "steakehouse". Our group, however, had a private room that worked very well. Whether you're looking to entertain clients or simply enjoy a nice evening with friends as we were, the private room at Rey's should be at the top of your list. The bar served up superb dirty martini's. The entre's (surf and turf for me) were well-prepared and the service was attentive and engaging. (thanks Jerremy!) Afterwards, we enjoyed cigars and scotch in the bar. Do yourself a favor next time you make plans to have dinner with friends. Go to Reys. Oh, and the friendly guy in the holiday tie who opened the door with a smile...turns out he's the owner. Enjoy...we certainly did! Pros: Across the board first rate dining experience Cons: None more

Watch Out for the Special 8/10/2008

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here a couple nights ago. We were met at the door with a handshake by Rey himself and promptly seated. The service was great all evening. The food was pretty good but not exceptional. All the entrees on the menu were $20 to $25 and the food was pretty good for the price. But then we received the check and were surprised to find that my "special" was $56, which changed our opinion! It wasn't that good. This morning we were sharing our experience with friends and they said the same exact thing happened to them. So pretty nice dining experience but watch out for the special! Pros: Service, Ambience Cons: Value more

Absurd wine fees and very unpersonable servers 1/11/2008

We were hesitant to go as we'd heard conflicting opinions. But, went for my wife's birthday and brought an expensive wine to celebrate - in fact wine was not on Reys wine list. Long story short -- we were charged a $25 corkage fee (a bit high) but our server did not tend to the bottle at all. She opened it, but did not pour it, or check on it, and we finally had to ask for an ice bucket to keep it cold (white). If you're going to charge 25 bucks, do your job. The final kicker was that our two friends with whom we shared the bottle, were charged an additional $10 to boot. I've paid a few corkage fees in my life, but never a "sharing" fee. Not to mention, we also ordered wine off the wine list as the one bottle we brought certainly wasn't enough for 4 people throughout a long dinner. These charges are the type of thing that will keep customers from returning. Quit nickle and diming your customers - you will pay a bigger price in the end. Additionally the servers had an "attitude" and "tolerated" us at best -- you can almost feel them rolling their eyes when they leave your table. Very unpleasant experience and we absolutely will not go back. Pros: interior Cons: unskilled & inattentive servers, high corkage and "sharing" fees, food is very avg more

Cigar bar is best in town 12/17/2007

Good selection of cigars, great scotch behind the bar, friendly service. Ask for Emily, she's excellent. Pros: Best scotch and the best cigars, plus Rey personally tends to the little things that make it great. Cons: Sometimes I feel a little underdressed there but they never make any mention of it. more

Changed My Life 9/10/2007

Being an out of towner, and from Miami I came to Rey's Restaurant with the notion that nothing can compare to many restaurant's in Miami that I have eaten out. Simply put, I was wrong, The service, food, surroundings, and just the whole experience was outstanding. I recommend this restaurant for anyone, who wants to have an enjoyable time, with family, friends, or maybe just a romantic date. The food was large portions, more then I can handle at least, and once again great service. And for those of us who enjoy the bar,let me just say this is a superb bar to maybe catch the game, or just enjoy a delicious drink. As I've said before come to Rey's Restaurant, for that perfect meal. Pros: Ambience, Food, Service Cons: The fact I didn't have a reservation. more

good god rey..you are wonderful... 8/6/2007

Everyone in our office loves Rey's. Great restaurant, wonderful service, 5-star chef, & Rey! What more could you ask for? Rey's does it right. Pros: Rey & his staff.... Cons: Not one I can think of... more

Awesome Experience 6/25/2007

My future wife and I went there Saturday to celebrate and what a dining experience. The wait staff was welcoming, warm, and friendly as well as helpful. Rey is very involved and made us feel special and the meal was fantastic. We were hesitant on our wine selection but the waiter confirmed a great selection which turned the meal into something much more. After that what else is there to say other than Rey's coffee and cheesecake to finish the evening. Can't wait to have another chance to go there. Pros: quality and quantity of food, service, warmth more

Sub par food to be considered "Fine Dining" 3/5/2007

We were disappointed with the Oysters St. Charles appetizer, it was like oysters in oatmeal with very little taste other than salt water. Our entrees were decent but not fantastic. The waiter neglected to tell us about the specials also so others around us were being served things we didn't even know were available. We will not go here again. If we are going to spend $100+ on a meal it will need to be a better meal than this. more

Great smoke room, relaxing couches 2/12/2007

I took a first date there, the owner of my dealership recomended Reys. Great place to dine, the wait staff was very professional. Utmost respect for there customers. Loved the dim lights, really set off the place. I have dined all over the triangle, and havn't recieved service like this in any establishment. The wine selection was phenominal, the steak was tender, cooked to perfection. I would highly recomend Reys. Pros: Service, great food, meeting the owner Cons: none more

One of the worst upscale dining experiences ever! 2/3/2007

My wife and I tried this restaurant for a second time, hoping that our first experience there was a one time bad event, unfortunately we were wrong. We sat down to a nice wine, looking forward to a nice dinner, unfortunately when our food came out, it was far less than expected. Of everything we ordered, the only thing warm was my wife?s steak. My osso Boco, ice cold and fatty, the Garlic Mashed, cold again, oh and the asparagus, cold and undercooked, and then the hollandaise, well, I like mine when it has not coagulated. We sent everything back, and out it came again, osso Boco was still cold, as was the asparagus. So back it went. When the owner came by to check on us, I told hi this was the second time we had come there and experienced this, he left the table like we had the plague. The crowning touch, they offered us free desserts. Not bad, I thought, I was wrong again, the Bread Pudding, ice cold, coffee luke warm. Don?t bother wasting your money, try someplace else like Maximillians or Bistro 64, better staff, cooks and food for your money. Pros: None Cons: Expensive, limited beef menu, undercooked food more
