Editorial review from Citysearch 11/13/2012

I just moved to L.A. and my car is quite old. I couldn't afford one of the repairs, so Joe went above and beyond to take care of it free of charge. They did not want me to leave without it being fixed. Joe explained what was wrong and what was necessary to keep the car running smoothly. Joe, his wife, and the rest of the staff were very kind and went out of their way to accommodate me. You cannot beat the quality care they offer. I recommend them to anyone and will be going back to them in the future! more

They fix the problem when other's can't 1/26/2011

For the past 3 month my Chevy Malibu has had some major problems. The check engine light would come on and the car would run like crap! This would happen 2 to 3 times a week and then just go away. I took it to a Firestone, and they told me that the problem was my spark plugs and I needed a tune-up. They replaced the plugs, the spark plug wires and cleaned the fuel system for $385.00, even though I just had all that done at the dealership 25,000 miles ago. When I picked up the car, it ran great for a day, then the light came back on and it was running like crap again. I took it back and let it with Firestone and two days later they called and said that they could not find the problem...... A friend of mine told me to take it over to the guys at Reseda Automotive. I brought it in and they asked me a bunch of questions and told me the diagnostic charge was $110 for an hour. I was a little hesitant, but I need my car to run right for work. They shuttled me home and about one hour latter, they called and told me that the problem was a ground wire going to a fuel injector was loose, causing it to short that injector intermittently. They told me they had fixed the wiring and were in the process of washing my car, and scheduled a time for the shuttle driver to come and pick me up. When I got back to the shop, Greg explained to me that it only took his mechanic 45 mins to figure out the problem and fix it, and he would feel wrong about charging me the hour of labor. So he charged me $82.50 for the 45 mins. Honestly, that was the biggest shock in my life, an honest mechanic. 1 month later my car is still running like a champ and I owe it all to Reseda Automotive. more

Response to previous review. 1/26/2011

We regret that you recently had a disappointing visit to our shop for the first time in your 10 years of being a customer. Indeed, our shop is back under the original ownership that had been in charge for 7 of those 10 years you have been using Reseda Automotive. Our goal has always been to provide the highest quality work at a fair price and your recent visit was no different. That commitment, rather than luck, is why our business has been part of Reseda for over 30 years, during good and bad economic times. The inital diagnostic charge was for one hour and that was to determine the cause of the no start condition on your Focus. In this hour, we inspected the entire fuel system, from the injectors to the fuel pump. While you correctly predicted that the fuel pump was the culprit, it would have been irresponsible of us to simply replace a part without knowing for sure it would correct the problem. We make it a habit to ask questions when we take in a car for repairs and hope that a customer?s observations will help us to solve the problem quickly, but we need to be sure any repairs are as thorough and safe as possible for the customer. The labor time to remove and replace the fuel pump (which includes removing the fuel tank from the vehicle) is 1.9 hours. This time comes from the Mitchell Flat Rate Manual, which is the industry standard. The Fuel Pump and Sender Assembly lists at $383.02. This price is for a Ford replacement part, because we recommend using original parts on all vehicles whenever possible. We also recommended replacing the Fuel Filter, which is industry practice when replacing the Fuel Pump. The labor time to replace the Fuel Filter is .6 hours, so the labor charge would have been $58.80 and the Ford Fuel Filter lists at $17.89. We also recommended performing a Fuel Induction Service. This service cleans the fuel rails, the fuel lines and the fuel injectors. Once again this service is industry practice when replacing the fuel pump. The charge for this service is $139.95. The price breakdown is as follows Diagnostic: $98.00 Fuel Pump Labor: $186.20 Fuel Pump: $383.02 Fuel Filter Labor: $58.60 Fuel Filter: $17.89 Fuel Induction Service: $139.95 Total: $883.66 We also broke down the price for replacing just the fuel pump or fuel pump and filter so that you would know all of your options. We even provided you prices on aftermarket parts, but did advise against them, because during our 30-plus years of experience we?ve learned that it's always best to use original equipment parts when replacing a fuel pump. While we understand everyone?s need to be cost conscious and to try to save whenever possible, we don?t believe in cutting corners and risking a repair won?t last, or worse, that your car will leave you or your family abandoned on the side of the road once again. At Reseda Automotive we do the best work in town, with the best warranty. We might not always be the cheapest, but we provide you with piece of mind knowing that your car was fixed right, the first time. more

Reseda Automotive is a BIG RIP OFF 12/31/2010

I have been doing business with this company for over 10 years. When I find a good mechanic I just don't leave however, this company has recently been taken over by the old owners and they are try to rape and pillage everyone they can. I went in for a fuel pump. They charged me 95.00 per hour to find out what I already new was the fuel pump. Then they called me and told me to fix it would be $975.00. I called up other people in the business and they all gasped. I paid to have a tow truck get me out of there and took it to another shop where I got the same repair done for $365.00. You do the math, this place is a good ole fashioned rip off and deserve to go out of business. The owner when I was leaving even asked me "did you find it cheaper elsewhere?" I said "sure did". Don't go here to get anything done I don't anymore! more

Go here if you want to get overcharged 12/31/2010

I have been a customer of this place for over 10 years. Recently it was taken over by the old owners. When I broke down I had AAA tow me here only to find out that the per hour charge I was quoted was $95.00 per hour. I reluctantly agreed after all I was already there. In the morning they told me I had to have my fuel pump replaced to the tune of $975.00. I called around and other mechanics were astounded. I settle on a place that quoted me $375 for the same service and had my car re-towed to the new place. Don't put up with this if you need service go anywhere else you will glad you did. This struggling business is ripping people off don't be a victim. I never will again go there for anything. more

This shop is different! 8/24/2007

This shop is different!\r \r The professional knowledge is evident as is the professional treatment and the clean organized shop. Even more important to me is Trust. They showed me what was wrong and gave me honest advice on what was critical to repair, what could be put off and for how long. When the repair was completed, they showed me the old parts that were replaced which instilled confidence that they know what they are doing, they deliver good service and you can trust them. That is not typical of my experience in the automotive world. I have complete faith and trust in Reseda Automotive. more
