We regret that you recently had a disappointing visit to our shop for the first time in your 10 years of being a customer. Indeed, our shop is back under the original ownership that had been in charge for 7 of those 10 years you have been using Reseda Automotive. Our goal has always been to provide the highest quality work at a fair price and your recent visit was no different. That commitment, rather than luck, is why our business has been part of Reseda for over 30 years, during good and bad economic times. The inital diagnostic charge was for one hour and that was to determine the cause of the no start condition on your Focus. In this hour, we inspected the entire fuel system, from the injectors to the fuel pump. While you correctly predicted that the fuel pump was the culprit, it would have been irresponsible of us to simply replace a part without knowing for sure it would correct the problem. We make it a habit to ask questions when we take in a car for repairs and hope that a customer?s observations will help us to solve the problem quickly, but we need to be sure any repairs are as thorough and safe as possible for the customer. The labor time to remove and replace the fuel pump (which includes removing the fuel tank from the vehicle) is 1.9 hours. This time comes from the Mitchell Flat Rate Manual, which is the industry standard. The Fuel Pump and Sender Assembly lists at $383.02. This price is for a Ford replacement part, because we recommend using original parts on all vehicles whenever possible. We also recommended replacing the Fuel Filter, which is industry practice when replacing the Fuel Pump. The labor time to replace the Fuel Filter is .6 hours, so the labor charge would have been $58.80 and the Ford Fuel Filter lists at $17.89. We also recommended performing a Fuel Induction Service. This service cleans the fuel rails, the fuel lines and the fuel injectors. Once again this service is industry practice when replacing the fuel pump. The charge for this service is $139.95. The price breakdown is as follows Diagnostic: $98.00 Fuel Pump Labor: $186.20 Fuel Pump: $383.02 Fuel Filter Labor: $58.60 Fuel Filter: $17.89 Fuel Induction Service: $139.95 Total: $883.66 We also broke down the price for replacing just the fuel pump or fuel pump and filter so that you would know all of your options. We even provided you prices on aftermarket parts, but did advise against them, because during our 30-plus years of experience we?ve learned that it's always best to use original equipment parts when replacing a fuel pump. While we understand everyone?s need to be cost conscious and to try to save whenever possible, we don?t believe in cutting corners and risking a repair won?t last, or worse, that your car will leave you or your family abandoned on the side of the road once again. At Reseda Automotive we do the best work in town, with the best warranty. We might not always be the cheapest, but we provide you with piece of mind knowing that your car was fixed right, the first time.
