Lame. 9/5/2007

Here's a place that opened w/ eager locals outside waiting. Once you get a taste of this place, though....why go back? It's overpriced, the bartenders don't know how to make a decent martini, and the service is laughable-not to mention the crowd. Do yourself a favor and avoid Red Bank at all costs. Unless you're from Staten Island, Long Island or Brooklyn---seems that trash is the norm in town lately. Pros: Interesting watching the bartenders make up their own prices for drinks for different customers. Cons: Insects, Poor service, lame crowd. more

RED, REDBANK NJ // a nice place to visit 6/24/2006

Heard about RED thru OpenTable. Atmosphere good; tables too close together, very loud due to high ceilings however the indirect lighting was inviting. Maitre 'd (owner?) a bit snippy and full of himself but server was excellent. Took a tad long for entree to arrive. Food very good. Sushi was fresh, crab roll tasty. Accrotriaments average. Entrees, snapper for me and sliced steak for my friend were really quite good. The steak was cooked med-rare and the fish sauteed to a perfect flake. Mojitos not nearly as good as Cabana's in NYC, too strong/too bitter. Wine suggestions enjoyable. We did not do desert. I would recommend for a date, or group, not kids. One thing, this place has an upstairs, the main dining room and at least one bar. Problem -- ONE ladies room, one lady at a time. You have to wait in the hall facing the dining guests if its occupied. Poor design. Other than that, the perfect location in Red Bank. Would recommend but would personally try other things in the area too before going back. Overall: enjoyed the food, and my date. :) Pros: location in redbank, quality of food, server knowledgeable Cons: loud, one bathroom/one person at a time, entree took too long more

Better For Drinks 2/10/2004

Red's downstairs bar is great after work. Bartenders Justin and Dee are really cool, and very cute! Once 10 rolls around, you literally cannot move in the small bar area. Head upstairs after that to dance and drink the night away. Not cheap. Nice tables along the walls. Definitely the place to be seen in that area. Pros: Nice Atmosphere, Good drinks, Local Cons: , Crowded, Pricey more
