This was my first and last experience 5/29/2012

This was my first and last experience at this restaurant. \r \r When we first pulled up there were people lined up outside waiting to get in so we were really excited. It took us about 30 minutes to be seated. The waiter was great and took our drink orders immediately but they were out of sweet tea so we had to wait about 10 minutes for a new pot to brew (but it was worth the wait). Seven out of 12 of us ordered the ribs which we were told ""the meat is so tender it falls off the bone"". This was not the case at all. The ribs were hard and dry and basically unedible. They were so bad that none of us ate all of them or did we even ask for a take out box. The ""BBQ beans"" as they were called - were flavorless with big chunks of uncooked bell peppers and onions and definately didnt have any barbarque flavor to them. The bright spot of the meal was the cole slaw and the corn muffins. \r \r I would not recommend this place to anyone if they wanted some good barbarque ribs but I did order some catfish to go and it was very good. more

Best Ribs I've eaten in years!!! 11/13/2011

I'm not a ribs guy. In fact, I'm not much of a BBQ person. Sure, I've eaten at all the big spots and even Corky's and The Rendezvous in TN, but never really got into this aspect of Southern cuisine. Well, I must admit, Red,Hot & Blue changed my mind. A friend referred me to them as his company had used RHB for catering and it was a huge hit. I took his word and ventured to north Raleigh. Man oh man, was I pleased. The food, beer and vibe was great. I really liked the Blues tunes in the background. They really know how to rock it to Muddy Waters there. Make sure you try this place!!! more

LOUSY 8/25/2011

I ate at the Cary outlet once before it was demolished. Red Hot & Blue bills itself as a Memphis style place. My comment to the hostess on the way out was ""YOU WOULDN'T MAKE IT IN MEMPHIS! I've had Memphis 'que and it's the only place I've ever been where the 'que acutally lived up to the hype. Sadly, Red Hot & Blue does not. At least, it didn't the day I was there. The food, for both me and my guest, was so overwhelmingly mediocre, I can't believe that me and those others that wrote such glowing reviews were eating at the same chain. more

Awesome Food!!! 10/9/2010

I hope you're hungry because the portions are huge! I've had the cat fish- Awesome! I've had the Pig Squealin' combo- Awesome! The Nachos are the best in town!!! They're not your average nachos! You can get them with pulled pork, chicken AND their chili on top! Just make sure you save room for the Blackberry cobbler! I also love the atmosphere! Great Blues music and memorabilia! I love RH&B!!! more

Not ""local"" BBQ, but still very good 7/26/2010

I grew up in NC, and love the ""Q"" fixed ""eastern"" style. This isn't like that. But it is truly delicious if you just keep in mind that's not what they're about. Pros: Good food more

not go back 6/7/2009

Management told me rude and obnoxious when I complained. He told me not true.I not go back. Female and male employees rude to female customer tables. They not volunteer to wait on tables, rush to get rid of,walk away from tables waiting to gossip with other employees, push crumbs off tables onto floor and not clean up,not volunteer to give menu,to give food, drink, silverware, drinking glasses and bill. Give food and drink, bill and try to run away. Give bill and run away notcome back. And often overcharge and not volunteer to correct it. Bring wrong order and not volunteer to correct. Talk back rude, give rude looks, interrupt, and rush to get rid of. Slow to wait on and not busy at all. Walk away while female guests are talking to employees. Have to ask employee to come back and finish job. Said not want to write down order.Did it anyway. Pros: parking Cons: management and employees more

Great Food! 7/30/2008

Love this place. The food is great and reasonably priced. I've never had better potato salad! Fun atmosphere! Pros: Great Food! Cons: Could use a few more appetiser choices more

Great food FAST! 8/11/2007

Red Hot and Blue has great food, at a really affordable price, and it is always super fast! This isn't North Carolina style BBQ, but it is a nice change of pace and still really good. Also, there are plenty of options for those that do not like BBQ or do not eat pork. The pulled chicken is the best I've had anywhere! The portions are more than enough. Your drinks come in small pitchers - so even those that drink a lot do not need refills often. The potato salad is hard to beat and the fried okra are the best! Also, on Wed. and Sun. the bartender is a lot of fun and not bad to look at! Red Hot and Blue is great for a crowd or just a few people, and if you are on your own, you can sit at the nonsmoking bar - which is great to me - or order take out! It's an overall great value! Pros: Quick and tasty! more

Best BB'Q in the area and service is always first rate. 1/6/2007

We have been dining at Red Hot & Blue since moving to the area 10 years ago and have NEVER been disappointed in the food, service or cleanliness. The pulled chicken and beef brisket is always tender and tasty and the smoked sausage is fantastic. Try the onion ring loaf for a starter or the dinner salad. I especially like the small pitchers they use to serve soft drinks and Tea. If you don't care for beans or slaw there is a large selection of sides to chose from (try the steamed veggies). The establishment is very well managed which shows in the cleanliness, training of the staff and consistency of the food. The added touch of fresh flowers in the ladies room is very nice and is testament to the operation.\r If you're looking for a great place to eat, you have found it, you will be very happy you tried Red Hot & Blue. Pros: Food, service and value more

Excellent Pit BBQ - NOT NC BBQ 6/14/2006

We went here for the first time tonight based on reviews of the location in Cary on this web site. The food was fantastic! We had been searching for a good BBQ place since we moved here about 2 months ago. I don't care for Carolina style BBQ in the least, my husband doesn't mind it but likes ribs and brisket better. \r \r Red Hot & Blue is NOT CAROLINA STYLE BBQ, it is Memphis so if you go expecting smoked pig with vinegar you will be disappointed.\r \r This was some of the best Memphis BBQ we've ever had. We had a feeling it would be good when we walked in the door and could smell the hickory smoke from the kitchen. I had the pulled chicken, my husband had the Triple with ribs, pulled pork and brisket. Each platter was served with BBQ beans, cole slaw and little corn muffins. All of the food was fantastic. The chicken was tender and moist with excellent flavor and texture, the pulled pork was pulled, not chopped, tender and had a wonderful smoke flavor, the brisket was so tender we could cut it with a butter knife, the ribs were falling off the bone. The postions were generously sized for the price and my husband had enough left over to make a lunch for tomorrow. We had heard so much about the potatoe salad that we orded a side and far and away it was the best potatoe salad either of us has ever had anywhere.\r The staff was very accomodating and pleasant. My husband could not decide between the wet and dry ribs, so they made half of his ribs dry and half wet so he could try both. There was a good selection of foods including salads, soups, chicken, beef, fish and pork. The sweet tea and unsweet tea were both great and served in individual pitchers. Service was quick and of good quality and the atmoshere was relaxed.\r \r One of the best things about this place is that the entire resturaunt is non-smoking! This is rare around here since smoking is still allowed in food establishments. The booths were clean and the air was very clear. \r \r We were very impressed and plan o go back again soon! Pros: good selection, great food, reasonable price Cons: None! more
