Needs a real chef 7/21/2007

Went to Red Dish July 20th. Martini was good, The appetisers were fine. I ordered the Veal Chop which was the nights special. Believe me, no chef with any pride would serve apiece of meat like that. Half was fat leaving the other half as meat and bone. The taste was decent despite being overcooked. I asked the busboy to show the chef my plate half full of fat, which he did. The chef ( and I use the word chef very loosley) merely shrugged his shoulders and walked away from the busboy. The nice young waitress showed up and offered us free deserts. We declined. A simple apology and thank you for bringing it to our attention would suffice. I dont know if it was arrogance or indifference but for the prices of the red dish neither is acceptable. As for the chef, perhaps he is better suited for a short order job at a local luncheonette. The Red Dish is a dining experience I'd rather forget. Pros: good martini's Cons: Chef is not more

Worst restaurant!! / Martini bar 11/2/2006

What a shame!! What happened to this place? What I knew of this place when it first opened was a top-notch, upscale restaurant with great martini bar. At that time, food was expensive, but impeccable. I don't mind expensive dinners, if the food is worthwhile. However... I have never paid som much for dinner, and I have never had such a bad dining experience. Service stunk. Decor kind of bland. For the price of dinner I would have expected nicer atmosphere. The tables were ALL wobbly. i hate that. That alone can make an aweful dining experience. When you pay nearly $15 for a martini, and the table is rocking back and forth and you're spilling half of the drink, one is not a happy camper. The world series was on, andthey actually had a white paper on the wall with the game projecting onto it in the middle of the dining area. (Bar and dining area are separate). All of the staff including the owner were fixated on the game. We couldn't get our waiter's attn. cause he was busy watching the game. The food was aweful. had filet mignon, and the sauce was salty and just not tasty. My friend had a fish dish-- wasn't happy with it b/c it was doused in butter, and the waiter never came to ask how food was. Bus boy took awaY A PLATE THAT was barely touched, and didn't inquire as to why, and he didn't tell the waiter he had unhappy customers. Dessert was not impressive at all, though you would think it's this stupendous thing. two people dined. We split a salad, had two drinks, two entrees, two desserts, and a cappucino, and the bill came to like $120 with a crappy tip. Warm cookie dessert stunk, nothing unbelievably desireable like I have had elsewhere. Dessert even came out with no silverwhere, and the waiter told us we could help ourselves to whatever utensil needed from the other table b/c he didn't know what untensil we preferred. I miss the old owners. These new people are gonna ruin a great establishment! Pros: Salad was the only thing ok. nothing good here Cons: Super Expensive for crappy food. Waiter stunk. Drinks stunck, dessert stuck. more
