Contacted several suppliers about upgrading to a 5.7 Mercruiser but only Raul was willing to spend considerable time helping design a long block configuration that fit our interests. Very knowledgeable and straight forward about what could and couldn’t be done with the engine and the value of each option discussed. Engine arrived in less than one week well crated and with exception of paint on gasket surfaces to clean - a very clean build. Scanned engine internals using camera/scope and found the internal machine work outstanding. Verified bolt torque and all bolts were properly torqued to specifications. The engine arrived timed on the exhaust stroke which was a quick/simple correction and based on quality we saw through the scope and the number of specialty components we were installing we chose to directly install the engine and complete the build on board. Rapido provided the complete gasket set+ for our installation along with all torque specs. so there was no need to look anywhere else to finish the install. With our installations complete the engine fired immediately. Cylinder compression varied just 3% - 4% (+ or -) from a baseline of 150 PSI. Found a coolant leak from one engine plug that we quickly resolved. After dialing in timing and carburetor adjustments its hard to tell the engine is running at idle. After break in (procedures also provided by Rapido) - on the water performance is everything expected. Low end torque is exceptional - fully loaded with 4 passengers the boat easily comes up on plane at 2500 RPM without trimming, high end power/speed is also exceptional and maybe a bit over done when you trim up at 4500 RPM and near 60 MPH in a 22’ big water fishing boat. The motor from Rapido is performing flawlessly, not sure we’ll utilize full power often because at 3000 RPM it cruises at 32 MPH while reasonably quiet/unstressed but it’s good to know the power is there and the motor is up to the task. Easily 5 stars for Rapido Marine on this build and service especially from Raul.
