The first experience I had with Rabideaux II, which is an eatery in a gas station, was begun with a sense of adventure. One of the local sausage favorites in LA is Boudain, which is a mixture of rice, pork and spices in a sausage casing, and it has become one of my favorites as well thanks to Rabideaux. They sell good ole southern comfort food hot and fresh or from the freezer case for you to take home and cook for the family. Their deboned stuffed chickens are to die for and an easy meal for the whole family. You can get boudain balls there (an even more localized delicacy) by the dozen frozen or 3 per order, fresh. If you have a large order to bring home be sure to call a couple weeks in advance to be sure they have what you need. This place is not only popular with us out of towners but with locals as well. Well worth the drive to stock up the freezer.
