Good hairdresser but terrible front desk 3/24/2015

I've been coming here for 3 years. I love my stylist but seriously the front desk staff is rude. Every time I arrive they are chatting. I almost have to interrupt them to say I have an appointment with.... I wish the owner would say something to his front desk staff. It's all about customer service. People pay to get pampered and that begins when you walk through the door. more

God Awful Disaster - Don't Go!! 3/24/2009

I arrived at the spa. First of all, I was astounded that I was booked in and then told to go get myself a cup of coffee. This is supposed to be a beautiful spa catering to clients who are paying a lot of money to be in a pampered type of setting. My esthetician Karen then came down and told me that she hadn't turned the wax on to warm, so we would have to wait for that. I know from experience that wax takes at least an hour to come to the proper temperature. I mentioned this, and she said she would figure something out. I was escorted into the room about ten minutes later. Karen was using wax from a bowl that she had microwaved! As my waxing started, I realized very quickly that Karen had little or no experience with waxing. She had not pre cut the muslin strips, so had to keep cutting for every strip. She was pulling the strips straight up off of my body, instead of towards the body. She was doing the wax in little patches rather than applying wax to a larger area and then quickly pulling the hair off. Karen had to leave the room every few minutes to microwave the wax as it cooled. When she started to do my bikini line, I actually began to cry. She was putting the wax on sideways instead of in the direction the hair grows. It was awful. An hour and a half later, she was "done." I sat up, and saw that huge amounts of hair had been missed. At this point I was really emotional. I was so excited to come in and get a PROFESSIONAL spa quality wax. This was a disaster. Karen even mentioned that she needed to take a course on waxing. All in all, it took two plus hours to get most, not all, of the hair off of my legs. I had to keep pointing out where she had missed patches of hair. I have had better waxing at beauty schools with students practicing their technique. I tried to leave at this point without getting a pedicure because I was so upset. 3 1/2 hrs later, I was charged full price - SHAME SHAME SHAME! more
