We had Quartz Concepts install granite countertops in our home and ended up with seams that did not meet industry standards. They were too wide and had very visible chip-outs and even a repaired (i.e. glued) piece at a corner that had been broken off before the slab arrived on site.
Always research your fabricator and *see* an example of their seam for the particular type of granite you purchase. Know what is acceptable under industry standards.
We found out from another fabricator that the particular color of granite we chose can cause more chipping at the seam than other types, depending on the equipment used and experience level of the worker. This other company could guarantee their seam would like the example in their showroom (their seam on the identical granite product was nearly invisible).
