The process is slightly long if you have never designed a custom home before. But after talking to my new neighbors apparently we didn't have nearly as bad as some. It took about 2 months to have the house plans completed. So prepare a little in advance.
They asked for 1500 up front which took me aback at the beginning, but again apparently this is normal in the industry.
It was 3-4 steps to get the plan done. First was the first floor ""sketch"", then the front, then construction drawings. We worked with Rob for the majority of the process, and he had some great ideas. Our master closet attaches directly to our laundry room! No more walking the baskets across the house (which I always had to do, hope the wifey doesn't read this).
Bottom line is I came away very happy and we actually came in under budget on our plans, which was a great start. (We did not continue this habit throughout the process, big mistake by the way, just fyi).
