I've been going to Wayne for a haircut for nearly 12 years. He's great! But he does have a parrot in a cage near the front door named "Buddy" that he likes to talk to. Never been to a barber with a parrot on the premises before. Wayne does a great job for reasonable price and has a very good sense of humor. more

Here is the problem, there are two different barbers--the rude lady (yep, I let her cut my hair once--she did a good job but was rude, she wanted to keep the TV on and I said please don't so we didn't hit it off). Wayne is the guy with the parrot, he does a great job though he is a little strange as well. Give him 5 stars. Expect to pay about $18 (or is it $16?). more

I decided to check this place out because of the good reviews that I read on google. What I got was horrible service and a bad cut. The lady there was rude and obnoxious throughout the whole process. She answered all of my questions with an annoyed and exasperated tone, as if it wasn't her job to deal with me or my hair. At some points, she was just plain insulting, going so far as to suggest that I go somewhere else to get my hair cut. I just smiled politely, hoping that the ordeal would soon be over. On top of the lady's bad attitude, I ended up with a half-assed buzz cut (It's almost impossible to mess up a buzz cut) that wasn't even on both sides and I was rushed out of the shop, not even given a receipt or a chance to fully look at her handiwork. The price for the 5-minute BUZZ CUT and the "pleasant" conversation that came with it was $12: nearly double what I paid for a full cut and shampoo at my previous barber. I would not recommend this barber to ANYONE. Take this warning to heart and don't trust random reviewers online when there's less than two opinions. more

This is the only privately owned barber shop in Santa Cruz that hasn’t screwed up my haircut. You will recognize it by the parrot cage near the front of the door. The staff is experienced, and they keep a TV on so you have something to watch while waiting for your haircut. more
