Great stuff! More than happy to pick up this great food. Prices are reasonable and everything tastes great. Things are on the less spicy side (hot is closer to medium at most other Indian places) so I would order a bit higher than you like. more

Best Indian in the Boston area. The only place a Brit can go to and expect something that will stand up to Raj / UK Indian. Not quite up to par with a true London curry house but easily the closest in the Boston area. You can even get a few sides such as a jira aloo / mixed vegetables / dal which aren't served as "mains". more

Love the Shahi Paneer and Garlic naan.. One of the best vegetarian dishes available. Once they messed up the order, but they reacted quickly and efficiently. Great customer service. more

Great food and prob the best Indian I have ever had more

I am consistently happy with the food from Punjabi Tadka. An added bonus to the great food is my waiting time for the food has consistently decreased since I first ordered from them through Grub Hub. The GH estimate for my food delivery is always around an hour but I've got my food in half that time the past few times I've ordered. I like this. more

Almost as good as eating across the street at Punjab. Food arrived ahead of the estimated delivery time, still nice and warm. I had a lamb biryani, and the lamb was juicy and tender, the rice nicely seasoned, just delicious. more

Great Food, Poor Service 3/15/2010

Punjab offers up good Indian food at reasonable prices but suffers from some of the poorest service Arlington has to offer. From the hosts who will seat you when they feel like it to the bizarre waiters who hover and yet do not watch your drinks for refills, this is an odd place service wise. Nobody is really friendly on the staff and there is a lot of staring going on and little service. Does the food make up for the atmosphere? Yes and no, yes if you are in Arlington with no other Indian choices - no if you have a location where they actually see to their patrons. Pros: Good traditional Indian fare - very authentic Cons: Service is consistently poor more

Lunch at Punjab 2/8/2010

Punjab has some delicious dishes. I recently went for lunch and had one of the best Indian meals I have had in a long time. The soup was incredible and the rice was just the right texture. The mango chutney was a little sweet for my taste, but my lunch partner comes regularly just to get it! The breads are excellent as well. What really sets Pujab apart is the inner room. The fabric draped ceiling makes the dining experience that much more special. Like a little escape to somewhere different. Pros: great food and setting Cons: you have to drive to Arlington more

Best Indian Food in Boston 1/10/2010

Punjab continues to be my #1 pick for Indian food anywhere in and around the Boston area. I honestly don't know how to describe how amazingly delicious I think their food is. My boyfriend and I have eaten here numerous times and never, not once, gotten a bad dish. We really want to try other Indian restaurants, and occasionally we do, after much torment and indesicion, but always leave disappointed and wish we had gone to Punjab instead. We have found others that are good, but none measure up to Punjab. \r \r Let's talk about the food: The dal soup is fantastic. The samosas and pakoras are lightly fried to perfection. Even the mint and onion chutney's they come with are diced and chopped to a cool and spicy (respectively) deliciousness. For entrees, some of our favorites are the Lamb Vindaloo, the Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta, and my boyfriend loves the Dosa's. The naan is soft, buttery, melt in your mouth heaven.\r \r Really, I could go on and on but I think it's obvious by now how much I love this place. In fact, writing this review has got me craving it for dinner tonight! more

very disappointed with how they are choosing to run their business 1/19/2009

Let me start out my saying my family and I have been going to Punjab in Arlington for many years, starting when it was in it's original location, and we love the food. I have never had anything I don't like. But after an experience there today, I'm disappointed to say I really don't think I can go back. Apparently, with the economy the way it is, Punjab has decided to take advantage of their customers on holidays. We went in for lunch and were told they didn't have their ""luncheon menu"" today. Now, that seems very odd to me, because the lunch menu has EXACTLY the same things as their regular menu, but guess what? The regular menu is about double the price. So the only logical conlusion we could draw from this was, they want to make more money. We even asked them why they didn't have their lunch menu, and our waiter just smiled at us, even after us saying ""was it so you can make more money off people on a weekday holiday?"" His response ""we do it 3 or 4 times a year"". Is that supposed to make us feel better? It was disgusting to me how they capitalized on their customers like this. On principle, I don't want to go back, and I am very disappointed they would do this, becaue their food is great. I guess they figured out a way to lose some customers... Pros: food Cons: way the business is run more

Great Indian food, especially the Tandoori items! Customer service and attitude, that is completely missing. 11/19/2008

As a professionally trained chef and industry veteran, I can say right off that this place is one of the top Indian restaurants to come to the Metro Boston area in a very long time. Great curries, tandoor items, naan, biriyani, you name it, its all very well done. HOWEVER BE WARNED, their customer service is just about non-existent. A better rating is ""Pi-s Poor Attitude"" Hey, I'm writing to you like I would speak to a friend. On a recent trip there, the hostess was rude (Okay. BITCHY!), telling us in a snotty, Paris Hilton-esque way that all EMPTY booths were reserved. Well excuse me for being a customer making a request. The call from the umpire is... ""Strike One!"" The waiter was very condescending to my wife and just about ignored her questions (strike two). When I requested my food spiced on the hot side, it came out mild. I mean the tomato-onion chutney had way more zing. Strike three folks. Check and Doggie Bag please. Sorry waiter, you only got a 15% return on your efforts. Be nice to my wife next time, schmuck.\r So a few weeks later, we do take out. Not only was it a ""Your food will be ready in 45 minutes"" , but we had to sit there an additional 10. No apologies to my face or offering to get a glass of water. Nada. Oh and when we get home to unpack din-din...you guessed it. Order screwed up. Didn't get the item I was looking forward to and they forgot the tamarind sauce and tomato-onion chutney we requested. A word of advice, if you go here, do not be afraid to throw attitude back in their direction, and be as explicit as possible. Oh and if you do order take out, open up the order in front of them and make sure that every single thing is as you ordered it. They may not like it, but too friggin' bad. They need to learn that they've accepted their working for you! Oh, and Bon Appetit! (I will be back with another review of this place and let everyone know how they're doing. Hey, it is good food after all! Cheers and God Bless!)\r Pros: Authentic Indian specialties and a Tandoor kitchen that offers a view to the diners. Cons: Poor attitudes. Server and Host's attitudes need major readjusting. Could be better more

Best Indian Food! Great spices! Good martini bar! 8/14/2008

I have tried all of the Indian food restaurants in the Boston area (Moody St., Waltham, Lexington, Cambridge, Boston, etc...) Punjab has the best tasting food! The Chicken Tika Masala is the BEST I've ever had. I brought my ""Indian friend"" to Punjab after much coaxing... and he agrees!! The newly renovated restaurant has a wonderful ambience and the new BAR pushes out some tasty martinis, GOOD WINE selection as well. Bon Appetite! Pros: Great TASTE/Aromatic Herbs Cons: A little noisy sometimes... more

From an Indian Perspective... one of the best Chicken Tikka Masala in the USA 7/16/2007

Went in on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was about 2/3 full - not sure if you need a reservation on the weekends or not. Beautiful ambiance. The drinks are great. Had the Chicken Tikka Masala (a true test of a good Indian restaurant) and feel that it is one of the best - being from India. Not as crazy about the Lamb Byriani. Veggie Samosas were a 7 on 10. Service was ok - not bad, not great. Pros: chicken tikka masala Cons: Lamb byriani more

good ambience, lousy food 5/27/2007

coming from Delhi which specializes in tandoori dishes, we found the chicken tikka to be the worst we have had so far even by boston standards. It was dry and tasteless. The paneer dish we ordered tasted like it was reheated frozen food. As Indians we would never recommend this place to anyone for its food. The ambience was ok. Pros: ambience Cons: food more

My favorite restaurant! 2/16/2006

I love this place and have been going for years, since before the fire. I have tried others, even one closer to my house but I always come back. Enjoy! more

They understand spice, not service 11/17/2005

Have eaten at Punjab frequently. Never had anything less than fabulous food. When you request hot, they make it hot! Generally I've had good service there, but that is relative to other Indian establishements. They do not think twice about rushing you, and I always notice them watching for the money or card to be put on the table so they can snatch it up- not just at Punjab, but at virtually every Indian restaurant I've been to. I think it's commonly understood that they do not understand restaurant etiquette, no matter how polite they may otherwise be. (At Green Papaya in Natick they actually flashed the lights on us, 15 minutes before closing!). But, until I can cook that well, I'll suck it up and continue overlooking the lack of manners. Pros: as spicy as you want, decent digs, best dosas! Cons: no place to wait more

Outrageous rudeness... 7/1/2004

We arrived at 8:15.Within 5 minutes, were asked 3 times to order. We ate despite the din of screaming children and the constant pressure from waiters to hurry it up.At ""last call,"" we ordered a second glass of wine. The waiter responded with by rolling his eyes! The restaurant serves until 10pm and by 9:30, we were fully hovered over, fighitng off attempts to take our food away despite forksmid-air! At 9:45,with 4 other tables full, our waiter announced,""We are closing, you must leave now!""Have you ever heard of such a thing?!At this demand, my friend asked to speak with the manager. The man she asked informed her that he was the manager. She explained that we had been very upset with the treatment and service we had received. The manager not only did not apologize or offer any explanation, but simply replied, Goodnight!"" in an indifferent and aloof tone. I will NEVER return.Inexcusable!! more
