Great for children 4/10/2006

This is a great park to take your kids to when you don't have the money or the desire to hit up a theme park, but want them to have a little adventure. There is a carosel a train, and some paddle boats, all of which your children can ride for a reasonable amount of money. I have always had a good time going to pullen park. they also have a good number of picnic shelters so its a great destination for company picnics and the like. more

Fun, but be cautious! 3/16/2006

Pullen Park is a very nice size for a park within a city, and contains paddle boats, a carosel, a mini-train, tennis courts, baseball fields, an aquatic center, and a playground. The playground is a slightly older playground, meaning they still have awesome toys like monkey bars and the "bounce on" spaceships and animals. The swingsets are nice but can "pop up" a little when teens or adults swing on them. There are several open fields great for frisbee or picnics. The park has many shelters for cookouts; they require a reservation if you want to be guaranteed the spot. The reservations must be made for a pre-determined block of six+ hours and are rather pricey. A friend wanted an outdoor bridal shower and we couldn't do it there because if we wanted the 2-4 PM block we would have to pay over $50 to rent the shelter for the whole day. I do not and would not walk alone in Pullen Park. Period. I know some people just advise to avoid being alone at dusk, but that's too risky in my opinion. Ladies, have a guy with you. My friends and I, even in groups of six or eight girls, have been harassed by guys on numerous occassions. We now only go to the park if we are accompanied by as many guys as we have girls going. It's a shame Raleigh doesn't police the park enough to prevent harassment such as this. more

Great for Kids 2/17/2006

Pullen Park, located next to North Carolina State University's campus, is an excellent location for family outings. The park has an actual working train that travels the property and can accommodate children and parents alike. The carousel is old-fashioned and still runs. The park has boats, swing sets and play equipment for toddlers and older children. more

Carousel! 1/22/2006

Pullen park is a fabulous litttle park. They have TONS of picnic shelters [erfect for large group gatherings, a small lake with a walking trail around it, some paddle boats, a train, playground...and my personal favorite a old time carousel. This is a paradise park, located right beside NC States campus. more

Great picnic area! 12/15/2005

Pullen Park has great picnic areas for family or work get togethers. There are plenty of things to do for the kids including a train ride, carousel and paddle boats in the lake. There's no charge for admission to the park and the rides are inexpensive and the kids love them. There are also a lot of swings and playground equipment for the kids to play on. Lots to do to spend outside time together! more

Park for all ages 8/17/2005

Pullen Park is a great spot to head to when you have got a few kids with you, or a nice day with friends, or even a romantic day as a couple. With plenty of activities to do such as paddle boats, a carousel, ducks and more, there is a great time to be had! The only negative I would say is that it tends to get really crowded on the weekends and parking is difficult as well. But overall this is a very nice park! more

Fun for the whole Family 8/15/2005

Take one nice sunny day, a fun loving family, a picnic, a few dollars for tickets and add Pullen Park and you've got a great day. There is a park with slides and swings, open green spaces and rides. Some rides are just for kids like the boats. Others, like the train and carousel, can be enjoyed by the entire family. Tickets are inexpensive and you can save the ones you don't use for another day. There is also a small snack bar. Pullen Park is also an excellent place for an outdoor birthday party. more

Nice City Park 8/14/2005

Pullen park is one of Raleigh's oldest and most historic. The carousel dates back to the 1800's. This park is great for large group gatherings like family reunions or corporate family events while still nice enough to spend an afternoon with the kids. You can rent out shelters by the hour or eat a picnic lunch in the grass for free. There is tons for kids to do: Train rides, Carousel, Boat rides, Large sand area, jungle gym and their is also a city pool nearby on the site. Avoid Saturdays as they can be quite busy and parking will be difficult to find. more

It's an awesome park. 8/10/2005

Pullen park is an incredible park. They have a restored antique carousel to ride, paddle boats, a train, little motor boats, and a huge playground. It is truly paradise for the little tyke set. Okay. It's paradise for the older set too, with the beautiful landscaping that accompanies everything. And this adult is a serious fan of carousels. more

A Unique, Beautiful Park 8/6/2005

We like to go to Pullen park. The park features a lake where you can rent peddle boats, an antique merry-go-round and a train. The ride tickets are very reasonably priced. The park grounds are very nicely landscaped. There is a concession stand for snacks. There are also picnic areas in the park. A nice place. more

Round and Round: It's a Winner! 8/5/2005

If you haven't been to Pullen Park, you haven't been to Raleigh. With the oldest carousel in the state still in operation, the park is a great stop for the kids, and adults as well. Walk through the green grounds, have a picnic under ancient massive oak trees, let the kids play on real train cars, or spend a couple of dollars to ride the antique carousel. Whatever you choose to do at Pullen Park is a winner. Kids love it! If you want to have a family picnic on the grounds, just be sure to reserve a spot well in advance. Shelters go pretty fast, especially in the summer months. The carousel is soon to undergo extensive restoration, so check to be sure it's operating by calling the park ahead of time. Enjoy! more

Great family entertainment 7/31/2005

Pullen Park is a great place to spend a day and offers an amusement center with a vintage carousel, train rides, kiddie boats, a swimming pool, a children's playground, tennis courts, and more. For a classic Raleigh afternoon, stop off down the road at Char Grill to pick up burgers, fries, and shakes and take them to one of the many picnic tables at Pullen Park to enjoy. Then enjoy the rest of the afternoon taking the kids on the various ticketed and non-ticketed rides. more
