nice dresses-scam on alterations 2/1/2011

I am a BM in my friends wedding and we got a great dress but they were a Total nightmare with measurements. I know this ""custom"" business can be different but she measured me over the sample dress, which was a 6 and i was for better or worse already in it, and she recommended a 12. How can you keep a straight face m'dear? Well, I ordered the 8, which is by all accounts my standard size, and given that i nearly fit in the 6 and could use a little room.... anyway, the 8 fits like a glove. My advice? Don't let them bully you with their ""measurements"" it's a load of crap. more

Overall- no good! 8/22/2010

I must start off by saying I LOVED my wedding dress and BJ, the amaing woman that helped me find it! BJ is super nice and genuine! Now, for the bad part....... I found that most of the woman were rude and everything is super expensive. I purchased my wedding gown, several bridesmaid dresses, and a flower girl dress and was treated like crap. They ordered all the wrong sizes for my bridesmaids so they could make money from the alterations, but after they TRIED to charge me $600 for a hem and bustle, I advised everyone and their mother NOT to get their dress altered there!!! On top of that, I asked the seamstress to sew in cups and she said no..... later I found out that Priscilla of Boston is owned by DAVID'S BRIDAL and that they have company polices and most of the seamstress woman DON'T even know how to do that! hahahahahahahaha! What a joke!!!!!! When i went to pick up my dress to take it somewhere else, it was soooooo DIRTY! i did ask the mgr to have it cleaned and they DID do that.... but they should have. Overall, NOT a good experience and I would NEVER go back or reccomend this place to anyone. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY! more

i dont recommend this store to anyone!!! they were extremely rude to all my friends and I...ordered all of our dresses about 5 sizes to BIG so they could make money off of us......also fixed my dress wrong....and couldnt pick it up until the day before the wedding!!!!! priscilla of boston should be ashamed of themselves for having such awful people represent them!!!!! NEVER EVER AGAIN! Pros: the place is beautiful Cons: employees=horrible more

POB is great . . . until they have your money -- buyer beware! 3/1/2009

Notice the difference in reviews on this site: those who had just purchased their dresses from POB rate it highly; those (like me) who have gone through the entire process with them do not recommend them to anyone. Yes, the dresses are beautiful. Yes, the staff will treat you like gold, initially. All of this will end as soon as they receive full payment from you and your bridesmaids. I spent well over $4500 on my gown; they lied about the date by it (and my bridesmaids' gowns) would arrive, the consultant measured incorrectly so my dress ended up being two inches too short in the front (which is impossible to fix since the dress came in a full month after they'd promised and a mere week before the wedding itself), and the manager's word is simply not to be trusted. Four of my girlfriends recently got engaged or married; after hearing my story, not a single girl stepped into the Wynnewood store. Bottom line is, I love my gown still, but I had to spend hundreds extra to have all my formal portraits photoshopped to lengthen the dress. Do yourself a favor -- go anywhere else. This place is only in it to get your money. Priscilla of Boston was the absolute worst part of my otherwise perfect wedding experience. Pros: beautiful gowns Cons: Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde staff -- all they want is your money more

Wonderful experience, a must for Main Line Brides! 6/28/2008

For most of my life I have been driving past Priscilla of Boston and admiring the lovely creations in the window, so when my fiance popped the question, Priscilla was the first place I visited! After reading that they were having a Platinum Collection trunk show, I called and made an appointment. I went with my Mom and my soon-to-be Mother-in-Law and was greeted with smiling faces! I did feel a bit out of place among the exquisite gowns as I am a rather simple sort of girl, but the consultant was so helpful. She (and about three other!) consultants combed the trunk sale and sample sale racks and piled the dressing room full of silk and lace. The very first dress I tried on was the one I fell in love with but I continued to try on the amazing gowns my consultant brought me. After about an hour and my heart still set on the first gown, she moved me down to the larger fitting rooms to try on some of the more expensive gowns. There were some moments when I noticed my consultant was a bit annoyed that I wasn't falling head over heels for the higher priced items, but she was never rude. I finally put that first gown on again and my consultant selected a veil to compliment the dress and as soon as I stood on that pedestal I knew...this was it! All of the consultants in the shop and the manager were so complimentary and simply insisted that I go with my instinct and take that one home. I found that very impressive because the gown I selected was significantly discounted in comparison to their standard gowns, they could have pushed one of the more pricey ones I liked! I have to say that the whole experience was wonderful and although I cannot say for sure because I only purchased the gown yesterday (!), I am sure that the fitting and alteration process will be just as fantastic! Main Line brides take heart: go see Priscilla! Pros: Costomer Service, Atmosphere, SALES! Cons: Price more

Beautiful Gowns, Great customer service 6/17/2008

I absolutely loved Priscilla of Boston. I went to about 12 bridal salons, and was beginning to feel a little discouraged until I went to Priscilla. Everyone who works there is extremely helpful, from the receptionist, to the sales women, to the seamstress. They all made me feel like a princess, regardless of my budget. I am very petite and found their Vineyard collection to be everything I dreamt of. You can definetely find a gorgeous gown under $2000, look for their trunk shoes, they offer extra discounts, and if you call or visit the website their are listings of special events coming up. I just happened to come in when they were viewing their new collection so just for trying on the new dresses I received a substantial amount off. Their headpeices/veils are gorgeous, and if you buy your gown from them, they will discount all of our accessories including undergarments (which are fab!!). Also, you will receive discounts on all further purchases from them (i.e. special occasion dresses, MOB dress, and bridesmaid dresses) I am so happy I went to Priscilla and HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. more

Great service, beautiful gowns 5/3/2008

We went to Priscilla this weekend looking for wedding gowns. We had just been to Suky, which was an awful experience, so we wanted to try something else, and we called up Priscilla and asked if we could come in, even though we didn't have an appointment. They were very nice and told us to come right over. They have gorgeous gowns, although I wouldn't recommend going unless you are willing to spend about $2500-3000 (and up). Our consultant was very friendly and helpful, and she assisted us with gowns, veils/headpieces, and even bridesmaid dresses. We discussed ways to personalize dresses (I'm sure for extra money!), but in general, the experience was positive: great customer service, great selection of gowns, and the staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. They even brought the seamstress in to show my sister how the gown would look bustled, which was very nice. We felt very welcomed and relaxed, and the dressing rooms were private and huge, which is great for girls who don't want the entire store as an audience! I would highly recommend this store to other brides who are looking for gowns. Pros: Beautiful gowns and great selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff Cons: Expensive! more

OK for the price 3/25/2008

I found PoB to be absolutely perfect. They have gorgeous dresses and Harriet was wonderful. If you end up buying your dress there, it will be expensive. Before going in I heard of a woman going in and saying her budget was 2,000; they treated her like dirt. I was turned off by this lack of respect for people, 2,000 is substantial to spend on a dress anyway. Unfortunately, it was the only place that sold the dress I wanted, so I ended up going in with low expectations and surprisingly leaving with higher ones. \r \r I would definitely recommend this salon if you know what you want. I'm sure if you're browsing and want to spend less than 3,000 you will feel somewhat of a bad vibe from the salespeople. more

Incredible...if you can afford it. 2/11/2008

I went to PoB in Wynnewood this past weekend and they have incredibly beautiful dresses. But I left disappointed b/c they were out of my price range. The cheapest dress I saw was $2800 but it was still gorgeous. The customer service was absolutely fine and my bridesmaids and I had a very nice experience there. I felt like I could try on all the dresses I want and my sales associate brought over veils and headpieces to try as well. The dressing room was very spacious as well. Pros: Incredibly beautiful selection and good service Cons: Very very expensive more

Beautiful dresses but HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 3/13/2007

I went in to Priscilla's of Boston after having looked in about 5 other bridal salons and feeling like I'd never find a dress. The staff was incredible and helped me find a nice dress. The problem started (and has continued ever since) with the customer service. BEWARE....the staff will try to sell you evry extra from shoes to breast cups being sewn in to the dress...EVEN WHEN IT'S BLATANTLY OBVIOUS THAT YOU DON'T NEED IT!!! I have had to go back to the store for 3 ""final"" fittings because every time i go in the hem on my dress is uneven. I would recommend bringing someone with you when you go for fittings so they can tell you the truth about what you need (or DON'T!) I have had my mother and friends with me every time and even when we all agree that something is wrong with the dress, the staff agrues with us saying we are wrong. (and this is what they call CUSTOMER service?!? when they tell the paying customer that the customer is wrong!!) And the store manager is useless...she has no knowledge about any of the dresses (called my silk dress polyester!) and has no spine...she just agrees qwith whatever the person talking says (whether it's you or her staff). All I can say is...nice dresses but HORRIBLE service after you pay them all your money!!! Pros: Nice dresses Cons: HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service!! more
