I hung the shingle on this place on August 1, 1996. I was timid, introverted, yet DRIVEN to express my artistic side on what has been the life-long passion of photography. I entered print competitions and did well, but NOTHING mattered to me like what I'm reading here from our loyal clients. The five stars I'm giving are for YOU. 1 - for trusting me. 2 - for pulling me out of my shell (newcomers would never know I didn't used to speak) 3 - for keeping us thriving through some otherwise tough times. You've all sculpted my artistic, intuitive, compassionate and somewhat perfectionistic characteristics into a service that pleases ME even more than it does my clients. Talented and Professional 1/21/2011

If you are looking for an amazing and professional photographer, Brian is the one! I met him for the first time when I needed a portrait, he was very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. The pictures turned out amazing and he worked hard to accommodate my tight schedule. I highly recommend Brian! more

I am so thankful to have met Brian. From senior portraits, to wedding pictures, family photos, business pictures for my website- you need a wide lens to grasp the variety I have put him up to! Beautiful memories start with wonderful photos 12/8/2010

Our Fall Family Pictorial has been an annual tradition since we moved to Oregon 3 years ago. Our previous photos were taken at a big box studio. We turned up, shot a few photos, and then left. I felt rushed and uninspired. The photos looked so-so too. Then, for this year, I chanced upon Prints Charming Photography. I was expecting the same "come in, pose, smile, get out" treatment. BUT, the total experience far exceeded my expectations. Brian was warm and welcoming from the start, He took the time to get to know us. When I said I had wanted an outdoor shoot, he immediately knew where to go. Going to outdoor shoots take time but never did I feel that Brian was watching the clock or rushing my family of four through the process. My husband put on his best smile and my 2 teen-age daughters enjoyed experimenting with different poses. Taking the photos was only one part of this amazing adventure. Brian alloted time in his studio for us to view the photos in his huge tv. He even thought of playing music and accommodated our requests for zooming in on faces or comparing among photos. It was difficult to narrow down our choices. All the photos Brian took were winners. Still, choices had to be made. I now have the photos in CD. I just had Costco print Christmas cards using one of the photos and the colors are crisp and clear. I can't wait to send the cards to my friends.I also have the photos on my computer, my Facebook, and on my desk as they remind me of wonderful moments with my family. These are memories to last a lifetime! more

Does an amazing job, even with a 2 year old in the shot! 12/7/2010

We won a session with Brian in a local auction. We were able to have a 45 minute session with Brian in a local park near his studio. We met him at his SW Portland studio and drove the 10 minutes to the location. We were having a family session done, which included a 5.5 year old and a 2 year old. Being a father, Brian knew what it was like with kids! He let them play with a light reflector and used it to get great smiles! The boys both had a lot of laughs with Brian. When the proofs were ready we came to the studio and sat in the living room area and viewed the shots on a large (~50") flat panel monitor. They had turned out great! We narrowed the 75+ shots down to 5. We chose to get a CD with the copyright release. We have since printed them at Costco and they look GREAT!!! He told me he knew Costco's printers, and he would adjust the photos to print well with Costco-he was right! We got the 5 images, but we got them in color, black and white as well as sepia. I highly suggest speaking with Brian @ Prints Charming, and booking him for your family photos, wedding or event! But call early, he is a popular photographer! Melissa more

Great photos year after year 9/9/2010

Prints Charming has been our Rose Festival Court photographer for several years now - which means Brian signs up to photograph 15 young women every year! He makes them all look like the best versions of themselves. And better yet, he does a good job of setting them at ease. He does a great job of balancing tradition with innovative techniques and new ideas. We are always happy with the photos and with Brian's great customer service. more

Portlands Best Photographer!!! 8/10/2010

Brian has always provided amazing pictures and has always been fun to be around. We had Brian photograph our wedding (after that we were hooked). Kids were soon around the corner for us and who better to use than Brian. He has photographed every stage of our kids life 6 weeks to 3 years old and always produces great pictures even when our kids aren't cooperative or in a good mood. My son was teething for his 6 month pics and amazingly Brian was able to get adorable pictures you would never have known he has grumpy that day. Brian can put a smile on anyone's face! We have signed up for the 5 year plan and love the fact that we will always be treated the same way and will always get good pics. Brian is a true artist. Brian also photographs and puts together our family holiday greeting card, it is so nice to have a professional put it together for you! I do not know where he gets it but Brian is always full of energy and ready to go with ideas and suggestions! My kids respond to him, we enjoy working with him and he is always looking out for our best interest. more

Senior Photographer turned Family Photographer! 8/10/2010

We first used Brian for my high school senior portraits. Since then, he has done everything from wedding, to pregnancy and babies, to family reunion photographs for us. He has become a part of all our events (and part of the family!). His kind nature makes him a comfortable addition in every setting. His artistic ability has grown along with our family and I can not express enough how loved his photography is. He is always excited about new locations, shots, and making the most of a session. Our 4 year old always asks where Brian is when we say we are going to take pictures... and was very disappointed on picture day at school! Brian has evolved his business over time but the truth is that his prints still charm us daily, he knows what he is doing, and you will not go wrong! more

Best experience with a photographer! 8/9/2010

I used Prints Charming for my senior portraits in 98, college portraits in 01, engagement photos in 03 and Brian photographed my wedding in 05, and kids starting in 09. I have since signed up for their 5-year plan, knowing that his artistic ability has continued to grow with my desire for great service and consistent quality. (I've tried malls and hobbyists on "FREE OFFERS" that pushed us to buy $&%$, but keep going back to PC) Personable, artistic and his technical advice has helped us get better snapshots (now that I understand how my cameras iso works) for the times he can't be here! Dramatic black and white studio stuff may get him Kodak awards, but I prefer the location shoots, esp my grad session in the Pearl dist. We're glad you moved back closer to downtown! Great Wedding Photographer and fun guy to work with. 6/3/2008

Hello, this is my first review post. Back in Jan/Feb. I hired Prints Charming (Brian Garaths) to photograph my wedding in May. Here is my take on how he performed. 1) I interviewed three other photographers and Prints Charming was the only photographer I was comfortable with, had the right blend of canned photos and photo journalism photos (majority photo journalistism style) and fell within our budget. 2) Brian G. was incredibly fun to work with. He kept me and my wife smiling for every pose. This is important because I am not used to showing my teeth when posing. Coiuldn't help but smile working with him. 3) During the ceremony/reception I literally could not tell he was taking pictures. I could have just been caught in the moment but there was never a time when I felt annoyed by his presence. Overall, my wife and I had a great experience with him and love the photos taken. A great fit for us. Thanks Brian! more
