Printer's Alley

This is absolutely the worst customer service I have experienced. I have been in this store 3 times for someone to help me choose some material and or to get a couple of samples. I was the only man in there all three times and was never greeted or asked if I needed help. All the ladies working there were not busy. I must be invisible or something. When I went to ask for help before I could say anything one lady scurried off to the back.One Old lady working there actually looked at me from head to toe up and down twice and walked away. I had on a pair of shorts and a T shirt but was clean and neat. I was totally ignored and these ladies must think they are really something but in reality they are really just arrogant acting and silly snooty women. more

I have been shopping at this store since they opened many years ago and most of their fabrics were $6/yard. The selection and quality has grown over the years, but the prices have too, and their staff - who used to be very friendly - seem to feel most inconvenienced about having to wait on anyone except their inside-the-beltline regulars/design consultants. I had outpatient surgery at Rex an stopped in the same day (because of proximity) to order a specific fabric. The store was not busy and several clerks were putting rolls away, yet I had to wait over 10 mins. to be greeted, yet a designer who had approached the counter after me was immediately served. Then the clerk kept asking me questions in a condescending tone. As she stepped into the back, I overheard her make a negative comment about my appearance (per pre-op instructions, I was wearing none of my usual make-up, skin or hair products, and pull-on shorts and T-shirt, yet I was clean and neat). I love the merchandise, but my view is the clerks' attitudes say a lot more about them than me. Life is short and l prefer to patronize stores who appreciate my business and treat me in a respectful - or at least not disrespectful - way. Have shopped here on and off over the last 10 years. No matter what time/day, there is always a wait. Today, I went in specifically in search of one thing - ball trim. No one was at the trim desk in the rear of the store, so I found what I wanted and took it to the register. Waited several minutes before a clerk came out from behind the curtained area immediately behind the front desk. No greeting. No smile. Just asked how much I needed cut. I asked for a yard. Now, this was one of those ball type trims, and I asked if she could please cut an extra ball. She said, ""all you asked was for 1 yard"", I said I know but could you cut an extra ball, I'll pay you for it. She said she couldn't just cut the extra ball, she would have to go to their next minimum increment and charge me that amount. Then I asked her, 'how is my asking you to cut 1 extra ball any different than my coming in to ask for a sample of that same trim'? She just responded 'you asked for 1 yard and that is what I can cut'. Now I ask you, do you really think that lousy extra ball was worth losing a customer, in addition to me telling anyone who will listen, what crummy customer service I received from this salesperson today? more

Printer's Alley is without a doubt my favorite place to browse... I wish I had a hundred houses to decorate in many different ways. Here you will find a multitude of fabrics in every color, silks, upholstrey weight, cottons, etc... and in a range if prices as well. Some as low as $6-8 dollars a yard to as much as 100 for the the exquisite bolts! It has everything anyone could want. The staff is quick and courteous. Take a pillow from that chair you have been trying to find the perfect drapes for and they will help you find the perfect match... i look forward to the day I have to redecorate already! more
