I called Precision Door to look at my non functional garage door and a service guy came out and basically looked at the door, hemmed and hawed and then said that the garage door could not be adjusted or fixed and proceeded to try to sell me a whole new door setup. He gave me an estimate and I paid a $65 service call fee.
So I figured if the door is not repairable I would get some competing quotes to have the door replaced. I called another door company and they came out and the guy looked at the door and said that there is nothing wrong with the door it just needs to be adjusted properly. Within a half hour the door was opening and closing perfectly.
So I called Precision Door looking for my service fee back, seeing as how the Precision Door serviceman was wrong, the door was apparently fixable and he was just trying to sell a new door. I spoke to a lady there and she said that the person I needed to talk to was sick, and she would leave a message for her. A few days went by, no call back, I called, she is still sick, I was told. A few more days went by, she is in a meeting I was told, a few more days went by, no call back. I call again finally she is there, and she just gives me the run around, saying things like the tech that came out to look at my door doesn't work there anymore, but if he said it wasn't fixable than it couldn't be fixed. I offered to have them come out so I could show them the door going up and down, she said they didn't do that. I asked to speak to the owner, she said he was in a meeting. I asked her to have him give me a call when he was free. A few days go by so I call again, I am told he is in a meeting, the same lady gets on the phone and starts to tell me he is in meetings all the time, so after all I have been through I got upset and demand that he take the call. She proceeds to hangs up on me.
I check the website and find out that this is a franchise so I call the national headquarters. I get a customer support person and she says she can't do anything to help, I ask to speak to her supervisor and he comes on the line. Very nice guy, he listens to everything I have been through and says he will call the franchisee and straighten it out. He calls me back in about 10 minutes and says it's all taken care of, the franchisee will be calling you and sending out a refund check.
I have a life and am busy and two weeks go by and I realize that no one ever called, no check arrived so I call the national headquarters back and talk to the same supervisor and he says he will call the franchisee again. He called me back in ten minutes and says that he talked to the same lady that hung up on me and that she told her that she in fact had called me after his conversation with me and that she told me that they were NOT sending out a refund. This was a blatant lie, I never heard back from anyone after I was told that I would be getting a refund. The supervisor then goes on to say that there is nothing he can do to force the franchisee to give me a refund, end of story.
I am thinking of getting a Precision Door franchise and taking service calls, telling the sucker that the door can't be fixed and pocketing $65 easy dollars. A few of those a day and I can make a decent living doing nothing. I know thats ridiculous but that's how I feel Precision Door treated me.
So it looks like they will keep my $65 but if I can steer a few people away with this review it was worth the time.
