Amazing food, great meal! 2/25/2010

My husband and I stopped here on Valentine's Day on our way back from Philadelphia. We were expecting an upscale burger joint or something of that like, but never in a million years dreamed of walking into the place we ended up in. The tables were beautifully done, with fresh flowers and small gas lamps on each table. We had their 2 for $65 special, which included an appetizer, entree, and dessert. I had the grilled asparagus with balsamic glaze over brie, the filet mignon (I asked for crab meat instead of shrimp, because I don't like shrimp, and they were more than happy to oblige) and the peanut butter pie. He had the caesar salad, the shrimp Francaise with crab meat, and the vanilla ice cream. Every single course was impeccably made and plated, and there was nothing to complain about. The waitstaff was attentive, but gave us about half an hour between courses. This was wonderful, as it gave us time to digest so we never felt uncomfortably full. The brie was wonderful on the bread they brought out, and I ate more than I should've. This was the first time I'd ever cleared all my plates at a restaurant.\r \r I can't wait to bring my parents here for their wedding anniversary, and to come here a lot more times in the future! Pros: Great homemade bread, fantastic food, nice ambiance Cons: None at all! more

Powerhouse Eatery, White Haven, PA--*****Outstanding!!!! (5 stars) 2/10/2009

My husband and I dined at this fabulous restaurant on Thanksgiving weekend, 2008. It was our 22nd anniversary on that Saturday night. It was absolutely perfect! The atmosphere was outrageously unique, service outstanding, and dinner, soup to nuts...very, very memorable. Five stars at least! Can't wait to find ourselves up that way again, because we will definitely return! A true GEM, and....we ""get around a bit!""\r Pros: Everything, I mean everything... Cons: NONE ! more

Terrible is a compliment. The service was nonexistant. Half the wait staff and the dining manager were socializing while the other half worked, still not sure where our waitress was during the meal we never really saw her. The bread (which was offered to diners behind us before they even ordered) that we asked for after sitting with a dirty glass filled with beer and a glass of water (no lemon of course) for 20 min. was full of air pockets and dry from sitting exposed to air. Then the lobster and crab bisque arrived (25 min. after ordering)fresh from the microwave cold in some spots and hot in others. Back fin crab was used instead of lump so it was full of shell. We continued to wait for our prime rib sandwich au jus for another 20 min. by now the water (without the lemon) has long been gone and where was the refill??? Probably with our waitress who we see less often than Haley's comet. Oh by the way Brian is doing an excellent job servicing the customers in the booth next to ours they have bread, drinks, entree and periodic ""do you need anything else"". Did I also mention they walked in behind us 30 min. later. Thirsty and hungry I asked to see the manager 10 min. later when the food appeared so did she after sitting in my booth watching the waiter go out and let her know my request to speak with her. Obviously that was so inconsequential there really was no need to hurry. The prime rib when it did arrive was overdone (med well) and chipped not sliced and the ciabitta bread was soggy. So all in all the food below average, the service was lousy and the management doesn't care. Keep driving there's a McDonalds close by and much better. Pros: Cool ambience Cons: everything else more
