Rude, unproffessional, money grubbers 10/16/2012

I went to Aspen Dental in Oswego, NY. The people there - starting with the receptionist were rude and condescending. The mandatory dental exam, given in a separate appt. was a joke. The cleaning was inadequate and they pushed me to get my teeth whitened, instead of cleaning them appropriatly. more

Dont go there, dont work there! 2/25/2007

Aspen Dental is not only a horrible place to go for your dental work, it is is a horrible place to work as well. I had gone to school for dental assisting and worked in the field for 2 years so I had plenty of experience. When I had my interview with the district mrg it was quick and simple, only about 10mins. She didn't even ask to see my resume'. I wasn't introduced to the doctor or the staff I would be working with, but the insurance and 401k package that came with the job sounded good. So when they offered me the job the next day I took it. The thing that struck me funny is even though I was trained very well in what I was doing they sent me to go train at a another office 1 hour and 1/2 away from my home for 2 weeks! The office i applied to was only 5 minutes from my home, but i drove to the training anyway. When I arrived at the office I was immediantly horrified at what I saw. They didn't do cleaning procedures correctly, picked up dirty things with BARE HANDS, and didn't sterilize the instruments properly. Instead of running the instruments through the heat sterilizer they would just spray things that have been in peoples mouth with a chloride like spray! I was disgusted! To top it off the whole staff was rude to me for trying to teach them the right way, I guess they thought since it was my first day I should shut up. I heard the front desk people talk rudely to the patients in person and on the phone, and when there were no patients they would all go out to the dumpster and smoke! Than there was a huge snow storm that closed the highway down to the office I was supposed to be training at. Instead of sending me to the office 5 minutes from my home they told me to stay at home UNPAID!. Finally after 3 days of not working I called and said they highway is closed I need to work, so they sent me to ANOTHER office 45 minutes from my house, but at least the highway there was open. I saw the same type of things going on in that office, dirty unsanitary practices going on, and being rude to the patient. I never once got to work in the room with the doctor, I had to read on terminology I already knew and graduated school with a degree in! Finally when the roads opened I was sent back to the office 1hour and 1/2 away. I was so frustrated by than. I took two full mouth series on two different patients and that was all I was allowed to do the whole day. Right before I was about to leave the office Mrg called me in and said my x-rays were poor quality ( I saw them they were fine) and they had to let me go. I went to talk to the District Mrg who hired me, she said I was fired because of my attitude. Also because I was overheard saying that if they ever sent me to the corporate office in New York (where I don't live anywhere close to!) I would quit. Well I'm sorry I couldn't be happy about driving an hour and a half out of my way to a job where people are sloppy, unprofessional, rude, and don't follow through on correct sterilization procedure's. That very day I went out and got another job working for a much better office, and you know what I got to start there, I didn't have to drive across the state to train in another office. My advice never use Aspen as your dentist or to work there. more

Dentist not neccessarily worth the long wait 8/19/2005

While the location seems good, right near Northern Lights in North Syracuse, and the office is pleasant, the good points seem to end there. The wait for me has never been less than 30 minutes, and there have been 2 occasions where I they refused to even clean our teeth. One time I was 3 months pregnant, and they would not even clean my teeth without a doctor's note of approval. I also took my 5 year old daughter and they would not brush her teeth - even with a manual toothbrush - because they didn't want to scare her. I understand if we're talking about a 1 year old, but I didn't wait 45 minutes with a 5 year old so she could sit in the chair for 3 minutes with her mouth closed and leave with a sticker. We have since found another dentist. more
