They saved my tiny butt! 3/23/2007

I found myself heading to an out-of-town convention for work. My daily work-wear is jeans and a t-shirt, so I haven't replaced any of my business casual and dress-wear since a house fire last year destroyed my entire wardrobe. I'm 5'3 with a 29 waist and 29 inseam, so I'm a pretty small guy. I couldn't find anything in any department stores around town, and on a friends suggestion I went into Porta Classica. I expected the typical Men's Warehouse sort of greeting and a rush to sell me the first thing on the rack. I was pleasantly surprised at the courtesy I was met with when the salesman greeted me as I walked in the door. The smallest size they had on the rack was a 30 waist, but they were able to tailor the waist, inseam, and taper down to a perfect fit in only an hour and a half time. They had two pants on a sales rack which happened to be in my size, but one had a just slightly noticeable stain. There was nothing they could do about that, but in lieu the manager offered me free dress socks (about a $7 pair), which considering it was only a slight blemish on the pant, I thought to be quite reasonable. Three shirts, three ties, three pair of pants, a belt, and tailoring for right at $200. I really can't recommend the place more, based on my own experience there. I'll be headed back in to grab a couple suits when I get back from my conference next week. more

Stylish clothing at reasonable prices 8/20/2005

Porta Classica is ignored by droves of office workers who glance in the windows and imagine that it caters to "others". Go inside. They carry a wide variety of clothing, from the extremely loud to the quietly stylish. Porta Classica imports clothing from China that has the same degree of intricate design as Italian knits. It's a combination Chinese craft and their use of modern looms. This clothing is of equal or higher quality than is found in quality men's stores, but the prices are a fraction. Excellent looking and well made shirts might be $20 or $25. Overcome your prejudice and try this place. Go downstairs. The salespeople are great. They'll really sell you and know the merchandise. more
