A bad experience for our anniversary 11/27/2007

First, I have to say that this was one of the best steaks I've ever had in my life. Unfortunately however, the experience as a whole overshadowed what we hoped would be a wonderful night. I have to agree with a previous poster about the snotty staff. Even though we had reservations, we were left waiting for quite a long time and the girl at the front did everything she could to ignore us. When we ordered our food, the waitress insisted we try their special caesar salad from the appetizer menu. We declined since there would be an extra charge if we got that instead of the salad that came with our entrees, and we don't really care for caesar salads anyway. When the salad was brought out, my wife commented that she didn't even ask us what dressing we wanted. It was a caesar salad when we would have preferred house with ranch dressing. We just assumed though that these were the salads that came with our meal. However, when we got our check, there was a charge for the salad. When I asked the waitress to take it off, she replied that ""they"" don't take anything off after you've eaten it. Not sure how I was not supposed to have eaten it at this point! Anyway, I went ahead and paid not wanting to ruin our anniversary dinner but subtracted the price of the salad from what I normally would have tipped. I didn't want to stiff the whole wait staff based on this one person's mistake. However, after leaving this overshadowed our whole dinner. I wrote a letter to the manager but never heard anything back. I also told him how this waitress made inappropriate comments given she knew we were celebrating our anniversary. She literally told us someone else brought our food to us because she was ""prostituting herself out"" to his table by flirting with the men there to get this male server a larger tip. When we commented on her assistant's accent, she said yeah - she could get her female customers to order lobster for dessert if he asked. Larger bill = larger tip? Pros: Very good food Cons: Poor snotty service and trying to inflate the bill for a larger tip more

Overrated 12/21/2006

I had their signature dish, the Tomahawk steak. VERY expensive. I've had better steak at Waffle House. Go somewhere else if you want steak. Pros: Service was excellent Cons: Food was very disappointing. more

NOT Family Friendly 10/9/2006

My family went to the Copper Grill over the weekend. We had our 14 month old son with us. When we were seated and asked for a high chair, we were told by the hostess in a very snotty voice that ""they did not have high chairs"". I was very upset. She did not even say sorry or anything. BAD customer service. I can understand if an establishment wants to keep kids out, but at least let us know before we wait for a table for 40 minutes. They saw I had a small child when I requested a table. I never experienced anything like this before, and I have been to very upscale places before with my child. Needless to say I will never go there again! more

Avg food.Above avg pricing.Below avg service 12/18/2005

I have no problem with a $200 bill for the two of us -- we do it all the time. However, it is certainly not worth it if the entire time you are getting angry because your drink has been empty for 16 minutes, you haven't seen a waiter, and you are still waiting on the server or his assistant (How do you have bad service is there is a server's assistant?) and you are still not sure if you are getting a salad with your entree when you ordered 25 minutes before. This was our experience. To their credit, though, when I found a manager, they tried their best to make up with new servers that did a good job. Disappointly, we only received an apology when I complained and we never saw a manager again to check on the meal or make an accomodation of any kind. Pros: Food, Location Cons: Service, Time more

WOW! 2/3/2005

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful! The service, the atmosphere, and MOST DEFINATELY the food! I was so impressed that a restaurant like this was hiding in Birmingham. Their steaks are to die for, and their Lobster was equally as wonderful! You must try the fries ***FABULOUS**! Oh, and as for their drinks the martini's are really good--I suggest the Coppertini. Be sure to make reservations! Pros: Staff, Intimate, Steaks more

Absolutely Marvelous! 12/19/2004

This is not a restaurant it is an experience! I eat at this establishment whenever possible! The food is fabulous, the staff is gracious, and the setting is very intimate and cozy. Anyone who knows good food will be greatly impressed! I cannot believe that anyone would have anything but praise for this place! Everyone there goes out of their way for you as if you were the only one there! My favorites are The Tomahawk steak (when available), but any of their steaks are fabulous! You have to try the German Fries..oh my goodness you'll go back for those alone! All of there desserts are to die for...the sorbets are great for something on the lighter side...I recommend the coconut! Anyone who enjoys a complete culinary experience...must visit The Copper Grill! I have eaten at top restaurants New York City and they DO NOT compare! Pros: Steak, German Fries, Great Service more

Awesome 12/11/2004

This place is great. The first time I went, I was totally blown away by the quality of the food, the knowledge of the servers, and the amazing service. The second time I went, my server from the previous time came up and spoke to me, by name. They make excellent recommendations based on your previous orders, and the desserts are excellent. I can not wait to eat there again. Pros: excellent serive, amazing food, great location more

not worth the money 3/14/2004

This place sucks!!! The tables are so close together that you spend the entire night with a waiter's butt in your face. They brag about their Caesar salad, and then bring out this drenched concoction of capers, tomatoes and hardboiled egg. Who puts hard boiled egg on a Caesar?!?!? Our food was so cold it had to be sent back twice and the hollandaise sauce was so bland it tasted like mayonaise. There are holes in the table and they serve you on cutting boards. We complained about the meal and nothing was done. I can't believe I just paid $100 plus tip to eat that crappy meal. Tomarrow night, we're going to Ruth's Chris. They know a thing or two about food. Pros: knowledgeable staff, good steak, good parking Cons: , poor layout, bad side dishes more
