Playland Park

Playland may not be the biggest amusement park, but its a lot of fun for its size. The park is well organized with most of the kid-oriented rides in one area. Unfortunately, like most amusement parks, the employees are mostly teenagers. This can sometimes mean less than perfect customer service. There is a nice variety of rides to choose from and something for everyone in the family. Playland has plenty of standard park food and lots of games. While its certainly no Six Flags or Disney, Playland is definitely worth the cost of admission. more

We visited Rye Playland for the very first time the other day. I had heard it it was run down looking and we were surprised to see that it looked so nice. They had a nice selection of rides for the kids. Our favorite was the Derby Racers because you felt like you were actually riding a galloping horse. I hated the Superman ride because it is a poor imitation of the Superman ride in Six Flags Great Adventure. It was rickety and over before I knew it. My kids liked the selection of fast food available. However, the rude employees really ruined the day. One screamed at us to check my son's height for the Derby Racers because I didn't hear her the first time. The ride attendants wouldn't help people who didn't know how to scan their fun cards. They would just watch as they put them in the scanner all different ways holding up the line. If it wasn't for the lazy, rude employees, I would have given them four stars. more

My family has been attending Rye Playland for years, and we have always had a nice experience. The kiddie rides are mostly in one section, so the smaller children were not trampled by teenagers while riding the rides. However, my most recent visit was very disappointing. The staff could not have been less friendly or more disinterested in the children. There was never a pleasant word to the children, or a smile as they got on and off the rides - it was as if they were annoyed to be there. I also found many of the rides to be closed on our weekday visit, and the response I got from management was that they were only open on weekends. Very disappointing. more
