Editorial review from Citysearch 6/18/2012

Having been a student and working in Louisville for 5 years, I had the opportunity to live in a variety of housing and apartment complexes in various parts of the city. While the renovated town homes of Plainview may seem like an attractive housing option, I would strongly avoid any apartment-seeker to avoid this complex at all costs. Highly overpriced for the area, the Plainview staff will entice you in with their claims of ""renovated apartments"". On the surface, these apartments appear to be nice; however, within days of moving in, you will quickly find out that their apartments were likely renovated by toddlers with Fischer-Price tool sets. Within the first day of moving in, a shower in one bathroom on the second floor leaked water due to a pipe not being properly installed, causing the ceiling in the kitchen (underneath the bathroom) to collapse. While one mistake can be overlooked, the ceiling in the second floor bedroom collapsing after the first rainstorm makes it more difficult to be forgiving. The second, third, and fourth time this happened was simply inexcusable. And, the steady stream of insects crawling into the kitchen throughout the year did not make for pleasant company. Perhaps we were unlucky and found ourselves in a faulty unit (though the other reviews on this site indicate otherwise); however, if the faux pas with the apartment were difficult to deal with, the customer service from the Plainview staff reached the pinnacle of disastrous. I have never interacted with a less helpful, ruder group of people than the Plainview Office staff. The only one exception was the maintenance man apologized for all the inconveniences. The office staff, on the contrary, never apologized for the fact that we had maintenance men in our apartment off and on each week for the first few months we lived there, repairing and painting our ceilings, redoing the roof on our building, and fixing our plumbing. They made no apology, and of course made zero offers to reduce monthly rent or fees in order to compensate for the building that was far from adequate. They rarely returned calls, and when they did, gave false impressions of when the repairs would be completed. Even after moving out, you'll have to deal with the snippy-staff of Plainview, like when they called me weeks after I had moved out (early, nonetheless), to leave a voicemail threatening me that they had not received my keys, and that my account was being charged at 150% of the premium rent for each day my keys were not returned. When returning the call to the property manager, she was conveniently on the other line, and had the person whom I was on the line with inform me that they had, in fact, found both keys. All-in-all, Plainview is easily one of the worst possible places to live in Louisville. Unless someone is threatening your life unless you move into Plainview, I would suggest moving elsewhere. more

parking and snow removal 12/17/2010

I lived here since Oct, 2009. I love my apartment very quited, washer and dryer right out on the hallway, clean, very good shape. But not talking about parking or snow removal... this is building #4 in the middle of nowhere, long ass walk to get here, its fine as long they will clean the sidewalk every time we got snow or ice, but they never do. they respond its: we do only the main entrance. so I always have to park on the back cause its no lot on the other side.\r I called them every time and sometimes they cleaned but not always. garbage its another issue 3 blocks walk. Don't move to building #4. more

Just don't do it. 12/17/2010

I signed a lease here back in Aug. of 09. When I first moved in it was dirty, nobody had come to clean the apt. When I came home the first night and turned the light on there was 7 baby roaches in the kitchen. \r I had a one bathroom apt. and my shower wouldn't work. I had to call the office three times before someone would come over and fix it problem.\r six month into the lease I had to move to a larger apt. It has been hell ever since.\r the shower wouldn't turn off for almost 3 months, finally they came to fix the problem when the people below complained because it was now leaking into there apt. \r The heater does not work properly, it shuts off when it wants to, and sounds like something in knocking inside, Its the middle of winter and at night it gets below 55 degrees in here. \r We had a leak in our hallway from the roof and when the maint. people came to fix it they walked in and said its not leaking anymore and then walked out. Now the hallway has discoloration, and wet looking more

dont let the curb apeal fool you. 11/21/2010

First off I should state that I had to give one star and if there were a negative option I would have picked it. We have live here for just under a year with our lease about to be up we are looking to move. We started in a smaller unit, but after wittnesing domestic violence 24 hours after moving in accross the way we moved to other end of complex, since we were told we couldnt get out of the lease unless we payed the $1600 early termination fee. new bigger more expensive unit has been nothing but trouble. bedroom ceiling colapse. squirel and chipmunk infestation, knocking in wall from pipes. was told they would fix after we moved out. i read the review of the blond work staff and agree. also we didnt want to drop rent through slot since we have seen kids hanging around the mail slot. wehn we droped of check the morning of the fourth, we had to pay $100 late fee. after 10 months of on time payments. also all other NTS properties give you till 5th. so not sure if they are on their own p more

you can term. your lease 9/26/2010

I have not lived at Plainview, but was considering. After reading these comments I am wanting to advise some people. I have lived in 4 different apartment complexes in Louisville and every lease had stated that the apt. complex has to fix maintenance issues that would interfere with the well being of the tenant. Like the water not working, the ac not working, the toilet not flushing. If they do not fix these problems in a timely manner then you can terminate your lease. Things of that nature have to be fixed within a week. I would definately check into your options for those who live at plainview and have major maintenance issues. Where I currently live the a/c unit kept going out, during the summer. I simply stated that with I having a health condition, I have to have air. If it did not get properly fixed within a week I would have a lawyer contact leasing about my moving out..Magically the air has worked fine ever since.. more

Beware of this management 8/6/2010

Four years ago my daughter and I rented her an apartment at Plainview. She is a college student and travels a lot on school related events. When we rented the apartment Plainview management promised to mail the bill to me by at least the 25th of the month as I would be the party paying the bill. The bill is different every month because it includes utilities. I live 2 hours from Louisville and management was simply effusive in their promises to accomodate me. This worked well for several years until NTS took over management. The bills got later and often did nto come at all. I would have to call and get the amount to make sure it got there by the 3rd of the month. Then, in July the bill did not arrive until the 30th. It was dated the 28th. I paid the bill immediately by my bank's bill payer service. Plainview management called on August 6 claiming that the check had just arrived to them and they were sending it back because there were now late fees of $120.00 and they wouldn' more

Management is just a JOKE! 1/22/2010

Hello\r I was trying to be quiet and keep myself away from the actions. But I got enough so far from new NTS management.\r I signed my lease back in March 09. And left country for a business trip till July 09. I was so surprised to find a notification about new management company. \r So I can't judge old one as far as I've never deal with them. First impression was excellent.\r Let's talk about NTS.\r First of all IQ rate of the management team (3 blonds) little bit over 80. May be I'm wrong, so please correct me... How would you explain the next. I came to office and explained that I have some financial troubles and would rather prefer to find cheaper and smaller place to stay...Asked for deal or offer (my current rent is 589+ for 2B/2B). As a result I got offer for smaller apartments (like 2B/1B, 1B/1B) for $620/mo and up... No comments...\r My lease is almost up. I have received Vacate notice 3 mo before the end of the lease. Accordingly for this notice I had 30 days prior to notify about more

look before you lease! 6/20/2008

this place is a hole, maybe i should just move to iraq! no one helps you-nothing is ever fixed. totally run down! the indoor/ ha-ha, and the outdoor pool have been shut down indefinatley by the health department, three buildings have burned down in three years! nothing in your apt. can be fixed until they take care of all the air conditioners that are broken. too bad if your toilet won't flush. i wonder why we have to pay all of our rent? we sure can't get anything taken care of. the only thing consistent is the garbage men. KUDOS! my advice... move to the willows of plainview, maybe more expensive, but worth every penny! more

Avoid this place if at all possible! 5/2/2008

My family moved had to sign a lease for the Plainview Apts prior to moving to Louisville - so basically it was sight unseen. Not only was the apartment filthy when we arrived, but several things were broken (dishwasher, dryer vent, faucets, etc). We were told they would be fixed right away. Four months later, we are still waiting for some repairs. Management ignores us. Last night, I was up watching the building right next to ours burn down. It is apparently the second fire at these apartments in the last year (the first on destroyed a building on another side of us). Needless to say we are moving ASAP! I would advise people to look elsewhere for a home. This place isn't safe, nor do they take care of you. more

Plainview Apartments: Home of the druggies, alcoholics, and terrorists 11/6/2007

I too was affected by the fire back in May. I lost everything. Management was very nice, quick, helpful. We were told we would be let out of our lease if we wanted, which later proved to be a lie. I was placed into a new building with nothing to furnish it due to insurance delays. The new one was identical to my old as fare as layout and sq. ft. Upon lease renewal... I find that they want to jack my rent up 130.00 more because I have an "upgraded" model with new counters, cabinets, etc. I had lived there for over 4 years and watched it go downhill. They let anyone move in there and it shows. Maitenance staff was decient, but it took them over 2 months to fix a running toilet. They were coming out "fixing" it and said it was done. I finally took a survey about my "experience" and was asked to rate time and workmanship. I rated low due to the problem and was "Called" into the management office and told if I had a problem like this to came see them and to never fill out a surv more

Temporary Housing after Fire 7/26/2006

I lived at Plainview Apartments for a few months after my house was destroyed by fire. The management and leasing staff were awesome and very helpful in getting me into an apartment quickly. The maintenance staff were attentive to any issues that arose. The only problem I had there was parking on the weekends on my street could be crowded if a lot of people had visitors--but there was always ample overflow parking nearby. Over all, a great place to live! PROS: Location, flexibility, price CONS: Parking more

Happy there up until the end 7/27/2005

Love the location - very close to just about everything you could need. I love that it's pet-friendly. It has a great clubhouse and staff - except for the maintenance men, who don't talk to you if you happen to be female. The rent is a little high - especially when you add the $80 per month to park outside your apartment in a special garage. PROS: good location, pet-friendly, plesant staff CONS: high price more
