Good show 7/26/2011

Pirates Dinner Adventure Theater was great fun for a decent price. DO NOT EXPECT BROADWAY or some theater event. This is simply not great Theater.... it is however great family fun. My children really liked it and they are very hard to please especially in this genre. The food was decent and the show was fun. We walked in expecting a good time and we got one. Extra kudos to Anna our server and the Actors... they made it fun. One thing the Pork Shoulder just before the entrance to the show was good (not great) but good.... more

Nothing but awesome 7/25/2011

This show is nothing but awesome all over the place! The audience participation is par excellent! Get there early for best seats and time to sample the hor d'oeuvres: the mac n cheese nuggets are amazing and among the best mac n cheese concoction ever! Grab as many as you like - handfuls! When did anyone think they would be able to grab mac n cheese by the handful and enjoy it? Possibly never... But the culinary geniuses at the Pirates Dinner Adventure have made it so. The show itself is an awesome show. Be loud, clap often and scream your head off and you will more than likely be hand picked by one of the swashbuckling shipmates to participate in one of the many games that the pirates compete in during the show. Highly active, audience participating fun! Their drink menu is pretty good and if you get the souvenir glass, you get refills at half price! And try to get the groupon if it even becomes available again! Makes the experience that much better! more

Couldn't ask for a better sit 7/21/2011

Loved it. We were a party of 15. We got there in time to enjoy the preshow and enjoy the appetizers. The preshow was great! Then we were sitted in the Red Section, 3rd row. Couldn't ask for a better sit. Everyone got involved in the show. Men, Women and Children. We all got involved one way or another. We were celebrating my teenage son's 14th birthday. He and his friends along with all the parents truly loved every part of it. The staff was fantastic, the food was good, the desert was great and the birthday celebration was fantastic. THANK YOU! We really didn't expect it and were pleasantly surprised. more

Great elements that you won't see at Medieval Times 7/19/2011

This show is a MUST when in the So Cal area! Really fun and interactive for kids, and drinks and great food for the adults. I went not knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The show has some great elements that you won't see at Medieval Times (Pirate's has an acrobatic silk act, high falls, stunt fighting, singing etc.) AND seeing the kids on stage is about the cutest thing ever. While at the show I noticed a few groups of 20-somethings all dressed up and celebrating their birthdays and thought how fun it would be to come back and celebrate for my next birthday. Great cocktails, great food, entertainment and all for a really affordable price. I would definitely recommend this show to my friends, family, and out of town visitors. WAY more fun that the typical dinner / movie date night too :) more

Got seated immediately 7/18/2011

What a tremendous experience our family of 4 enjoyed that Monday evening. Although we had spend most of our energy at Knott's Berry Farm all day, we certainly were revived during the "appetizer" time and the pre-theater activities. Lots of laughs and audience participation. The seating was fine and we were engaged in show immediately as we sat down. The service was superb. The food and the cleanup were very prompt. The performance was especially captivating for the children, 5 and 7 yrs. old. My daughter didn't even TOUCH her ice cream dessert which is so unheard of!!!! A definite 5-star for us and we will be returning to the show next time we are in CA.! more

We'll Be Back Again 7/8/2011

This place was so fun the first time we decided to come back a year later with our boys! This time was a bit different - we did not really get a choice for food, so there was a half a chicken for each of us!!! Five of us!! ...Two 3 year olds, a 5 year old and my wife and I. Side note - we got ""to go"" boxes and I have used them three nights in a row! Beware the prices for drinks and beware if you tip well - those nasty and wonderful drinks will kick your ass and your wallet! No regrets, though... We will be back again, as long as they are still there! PS. The security guy was great, although he wanted to show my wife his own pirate show, he was gracious and let me take some pictures when they were not allowed. more

The Kids loved the show! 7/7/2011

Situation: 4 adults and 7 children, ages 7-10yo for my 10yo son's birthday Tips Arrive at least 1-1/2 hours early to secure better seating near the stage and nab tables and chairs in ""waiting area"" for 1-1/2 hour wait; ask for purple or orange sections, as center of stage is easier seen; if tip wasn't added to your charge, recommended amount is $3/children and $5/adults; as pirate walks around greeting guests, inform of any birthdays in your party - he may invite person to participate in the show; if possible, purchase tickets online - cheaper than at the door. Positives: Kid-friendly show that made us adults chuckle; for extra $20 we got ""Cake Special"" of announcing son's birthday at beginning of the show and cake that was supposed to feed 6-8 people, but really fed about 12; food options were roast chicken or pork with bbq sauce or vegetable lasagna - meat options came with mashed potatoes and broccoli (as advertised), followed up with apple cobbler and ice cream; food was actually quite delicious for it being cooked in large quantities; everyone in our party got to participate in the show at various times (all the kids were chosen to be soldiers); staff (especially Alexa in the blue section) was friendly, prompt, efficient and got our all orders correct, even offering to-go boxes for leftover meals and cake. Negatives: While in noshing on free appetizers in waiting area, one small soda costs $5 w/NO refills and a large one in a souvenir glass is $10 w/free refills; water is free. My husband and I bought the souvenir glass for the free refills during a long wait, but found it wasn't necessary because we really weren't that thirsty before actual show and were distracted by the pre-show activities. more

The best and only interactive show in town 7/5/2011

Maybe I am biased... the best and only interactive show in town... great for kids, families, adults... anyone! Wonderful show, great meal (with options and choices) SILVERWARE... :) Cast is great and friendly; lots of opportunities to participate. Every time I see the show the audience is totally into it, screaming, yelling and cheering their pirate on! Couple of great bars... HUGE souvenir glasses; beers, wines, mixed drinks, champagne, specialty house rum cocktails; you name it!! On special nights there is even a cool fun dance party after the last show with fun music and dancing with the Pirate's. I understand a BRAND NEW show is in the works for their 5th Year Anniversary in Late March... now that is something to really look forward to. You have to come and experience Pirate's. It's so much fun and doesn't even compare with anything else out there!! more

Audience Inclusion Made it Super Fun 7/1/2011

We recently took my 11 year old daughter for her birthday celebration. It was such a great time. From the minute we stepped inside, we felt like we were a part of the event! We had excellent seats and rooted for the Orange Pirate...by far the BEST of them all! The service was very quick the food tasted great, good sized portions and something for everyone. We will definitly go back when family visits or for another celebration because this suits a lot of age groups. THere were severl military guests there and I thought it was a nice touch to recognize them. I heard they do a different show for Halloween that I definitly want to check out! more

I love this place 6/1/2011

I love this place its really fun and the food is amazing .The only thing is i have been a few times and now they cut back on the pre show snacks lol If you ever go to Disney Land you have to check this place out more

They all want to come back 5/27/2011

Using the kids in the show is genius!! They all want to come back. more

It's so much fun! 5/26/2011

The best part: You won't go home hungry. Show up right at 5:30 (or before) on a weeknight in order to take advantage of the appetizers and pre-show. Last night's appetizers included veggie sticks, fruit, crab salad, meatballs, chicken wings, cheese/crackers/cold cuts and pasta. Dinner was chicken and beef or chicken and shrimp/scallop, with rice and veggies on the side. Dessert was an peach cobbler with ice cream and coffee. Your dinner comes with unlimited soda or water, or 2 beers, or 2 glasses of wine. After the show, they had a table with coffee and cake in the lobby. Crazy! My friends and I were so stuffed after eating all that food that we were almost sick. None of the food was the greatest tasting food ever, but I've had much worse. It was about Costco quality for appetizers and maybe Sizzler quality for dinner. The show itself was incredibly interactive. If you have kids, definitely bring them with you. They'll have a great time. And don't be shy about volunteering for stuff! It's so much fun! The show itself has a lot of action and some Cirque du Soleil-esque entertainment. There is also a cheesy romance and family drama plot. In addition, there's singing and dancing (some of it intentionally very bad). We only paid $20.09 for our tickets last night and I totally thought it was worth the price. (Btw - the $20.09 promo is for January 2009 only. Mention the code "2009" when you book.) They recommend tipping your server $5 per person. I'd definitely recommend this over Medieval Times. There was more food and the show was so much more entertaining. Oh - and most importantly - the drinks were cheaper! They still weren't cheap, but it wasn't too bad. And my drink, a Gypsy Juice with Stoli Peach, lemonade and rasberry liquer, was yummy. And ginormous. Yes, I'd go back. I'd go back next week if I only paid $20.09 again. But if I had a fun group of people to go with, who appreciate pirate humor, I'd go back with just a $4 off coupon. It was that much fun! more

Love it 5/25/2011

WOW was this place cheesy; but it was fun too. If you have kids in the 5-10 yr range they will love it, but don't expect much as far as the food goes. They can be flowing with the free beer, depending on your server, so getting drunk and yelling loud makes it fun if you lack the little ones. So in short, bring your little kids or your thirst and you will be fine. more

I LOVED THIS PLACE 5/23/2011

I LOVED THIS PLACE, my friends took me here for my 20Th bday and i was very excited. I really liked the appetizers that they give you before the show. They had about 7 different types of appetizers, which were all really good. I loved the show, which we REALLY got into. I guess if you're a kid at heart and you know how to have fun then you cant go wrong at this place. Dinner was delicious...except the rice could have been a Lil better, but besides that i DEFINITELY think everyone should go here at least once! more

A GREAT FAMILY NIGHT 5/20/2011

This is my 2nd time going and we had a great time. There were 5 kids in our group ages 2-8 and they all LOVED it. And so did the 4 adults and some of us got to help it the show!!! It's worth the money. We got on their e-mail list and got discounted tickets. It is a great show and all the cast and servers work super hard and put on a great performance. We will definately go again and again!!! more

Been here twice 5/18/2011

iv been here twice and the second time i came, i gave the server 20 dollars up front and he always kept my drink filled gave me fresh food and put my kids in the show, all u have to do is just give the server money right up front. more

Great evening show 5/16/2011

Great evening show. Including the guests is an awesome idea. My entire party had a blast. more

Great family place 5/12/2011

As cheesy as it was, I had a great time. A good excuse to act like a jackass. The food was decent and the service was good too. I am also a fan of Medieval Times. I like them both, but this place was a little more entertaining as far a action. There was a lot of acrobatics. They also involved the crowd a lot more than Medieval Times. They are both good for different reasons. Great family place. Or even to go with a group of friends. more

Loved the show and the food 5/11/2011

My wife and I both loved the show and the food. It was a lot of fun especially for someone like me who is getting into Pirates. Kudos to all that put the experience together. This was our second visit and we are still impressed with the choreogrphy of the fighting and swordsmanship. The interaction of the audience is great especially bringing adults and chldren into the show. Our only problem is that the area in which the preshow is done is very crowded becuase of gift shop and bar are all close together. Would be nice if in the future more space is given to accomadate all. Otherwise great, we recomend it to adults and children both, especially if the adults want to bring out the inner child. more

had a great time 5/9/2011

Just went today with 2 friends. Wasn't really sure what to expect, but came in ready for fun... and it was really fun. The appetizers before the show were okay. Come early for lesser/no lines lines. They let you in 2 hours before. They had a variety: chicken wings, cold meats (turkey, ham) and cheeses, vegetable sticks, pasta, and some others. The chicken wings were really good, but then they ran out and had meatballs instead... not as good so I went to get a midori sour. Cocktails are $8 in the smaller plastic cups or 16 in a glass souviener cup (12 for plastic). The preshow starts about an hour before the show... but I missed most of it to go out and get friends, so I'm not really sure what was going on. They then start to seat you by the color of your ticket, green and blue are the sections way on the sides... so I am not sure how good the views are from there. It is a small place though. All the other sections I'm sure have awesome views. At the beginning I wasn't really sure what was going on, but had a great time cheering and getting into it. I even participated!! It's true what people say, get into it and it will be sooo much more fun. It's cheesy but good fun. It is true that there is a lot of singing that goes on... probably why I wasn't sure what was going on at the beginning, but then about halfway through, there's more fighting. Show is about 1hr 45 min. The food was not bad, chicken was really tender. I had the shrimp with chicken, that was pretty good... I didn't try the beef and chicken combo, so I can't say for that one. At the end, they recommend giving a $5 tip for adults and $3 for kids. Bottom line, come in ready for some cheesy fun and you will have fun...I mean c'om, you've got alcohol, pirates, friends... you can't really go wrong :) more
