Phoenix Tattoo

This was my first tattoo, and I really did not know what to except. I went to the Phoenix establishment on a Wednesday and took the appointment for the coming Friday. I had designed the tattoo myself, and the lady at the counter asked me to give her a true-size picture of the tattoo. I had brought a couple of true-size print outs with me, so that was not a problem. I was told to pay a deposit of $50, and was told that the tat would cost $100. The following Friday I went to the studio a couple of minutes before my appointment. Matt came over and showed me the stencil and checkes if everything looked okay. Then we started off and it took around 50 minutes. It was pretty much painless- and the entire while Matt kept on chatting up- which helped. He has a very steady hand- an artisit who knows his art. The best part was- they even give an after care kit, consisting of an A&D ointment and a moisturiser, along with clear written directions. Its two weeks since I got the tat now, and the lion on my arm looks gorgeuos. Would definitely go here again if I decide to get another tattoo. more

Just got my 2nd tattoo done with Phoenix. I'd heard good things so asked them to draw something up. I was Matt Kerley. He did a great job with the art work and that tattoo turned out better than I expected. I couldn't have asked for a better turnout. I would definitely go back. more

My daughter had been wanting a tattoo since she was 12. I also had always considered getting one, just couldn't decide what I wanted. When she turned 18 we drew up a couple of things and went over to the shop to see what they could come up with. We made appointments with the Matts and are SO happy with the results. We both feel our tattoos far exceeded what we had in mind. Don't go anywhere else. Awesome gal at the front desk, the Matts were super friendly and made our first time experience the best. more

I got my 3rd tattoo here from Colby. Really professional and does amazing work. I showed up with vague instructions and one picture and he drew exactly what I saw in my head. Very open to suggestions and is very helpful. I was able to get my tattoo just before I left for the Army (I went in on Tuesday and was able to get it done by the weekend). Colby was able to draw up exactly what I wanted in a very short period of time and with very little guidance. I have never been happier with the final product or the professionalism of the shop. more

I was looking to get a dog portrait tattoo, had always heard good things about Phoenix so looked at their website and was immediately impressed by the painterly style of Steve's work. I went to the shop and made an appointment for a consult with Steve, we discussed the portrait and some other ideas for expanding a vine I already had on the same arm into a sleeve. He did the portrait first, on my inner forearm, and it really exceeded my expectations - his knowledge and skills as a painter, particularly use of color really show through in this piece, the portrait is of a much loved pet who recently died and I now have an amazingly artistic, lifelike image of her with me forever. Since then Steve has been working on my sleeve, combining all the elements I wanted to include with his own imaginative interpretation. I go every couple of weeks (20+ hours so far) and am totally satisfied with the whole experience. If you are looking for a tattoo from a true artist then I would say go see Steve, you'll have a great experience and walk away with a unique piece of art. more

When I made the decision to get a new tattoo, I decided to use the same store, even though my artist no longer works there. I got a recommendation for and made an appointment with a Phoenix tattoist. Unfortunately, the day before my ink was supposed to be done, said tattoist decided to find other employment. Phoenix Tattoo handled the situation very well and offered the services of another artist in his place. I remembered the guy they were talking about, as he worked there when I got my last ink done. All seemed well in the world. However. I have to now say, it really wasn't a pleasant experience. The artist was obviously annoyed that he was filling in for someone else and didn't originally sign up to do my work (along with two others getting the same tattoo). He made jabbing comments when I asked for his suggestion. He straight up ignored some of what I asked. Overall, I felt very unwelcome. I know I'm not crazy, because there were three other individuals with me and all noticed or felt the same thing. On a positive note, the tattoo did come out looking very nice. Albeit it took some stressful bantering between me and the artist, a design size, placement, and color scheme was figured out and worked well. My final review is that I am happy with the ink, but slightly disappointed in the experience. more

The result was better than I could have hoped for -- laser-sharp, clean lines and a LOT of detail. This was my first tattoo, and if/when I decide to get another - I'm going to Phoenix. more

My tattoo was rather girly, and I'm sure it wasn't the most exciting thing Colby has ever worked on, but he took his time and did an EXCELLENT job! I will definitely be returning soon! more

Colby has some of the best work I have seen in this style and had great ideas about what it would take to finish what I thought would be challenging work. He's really patient and thoughtful and I really can't say enough about how much I look forward to working with him on this. The area is lucky to have someone who cares about high quality work and the discerning customer. Highly recommended! more

I can't say I have seen every tattoo artist's work, no one can say that. What I can say is that I have been planning my first tattoo for about 3 years, and have looked EXTENSIVELY online for both ideas and to pick an artist to do my tattoo. I travel to NYC a bit and thought I might make a fun trip more memorable by getting my first tattoo in the city. I checked out all the well known and some smaller shop artist portfolios. Of course I looked locally as well as regionally. Bottom line is I looked at a lot of tattoos from all over. Had I seen someone's work that really hit home with me I may have traveled to see them. Really there was no need because the best work I have ever seen is right in our own back yard. Lacie's work is phenomenal! My experience with both Kellie at the front desk and Lacie could not have been better. Kellie is very nice, and Lacie was fun to hang around with while she laid a absolutely stunning portrait on my shoulder. The shop vibe is actually pretty cool, and if you don't like the song playing over the speakers just wait because you'll will hear something cool and different next! A tattoo is permanent, and Lacie was very serious and detailed about both the final draft and the placement. Her eye was much better than mine, as what looked good to me was still not quite right with her. The final result was one that blew me away completely and made me so happy I got the tattoo, and that I got it here. I'll proudly wear this art to my grave. It was a comfortable yet cool setting, and the entire experience had me planning my next tattoo with Lacie before the first one was finished. A week later my resolve to go back has not changed. You won't regret it either. more
