Good Work 6/13/2013

Some idiot revesed into my BMW causing major damage. Phil worked with me to get my car back on the road, they did a great job, my car looks brand new. The ladies at the desk were very helpful. I would recommend Phil Thearles Autowerks to anyone. more

You get what you or your insurance pays for! 12/9/2010

This place is a little expensive but my Dad always said, "you get what you pay for." The whole process is very easy to deal with, even for a novice going through an accident for the first time. They are happy to work with you and explain anything you ask related to the repair regardless if it's an insurance claim or something else you want done. They fight with insurance companies to fix cars correctly so that their customers don't have to. I wouldn't go anywhere else. more

Don't go there 9/27/2010

They are only out to screw the insurance companies. Because of them, they are totaling my SUV for some scratches that you wouldn't notice unless I pointed them out. That is how they pay for the big beautiful building. They don't care about their customers. I will give them 5 stars for putting on a show that they car for the customers. Until it doesn't go there way, they are great, then the truth comes out. more

the best around 6/11/2010

My BMW 540 suffered major damage. Thearle's took a long time to do the work, but it was WORTH IT! The job was absolutely first rate, and their customer service could not have been any better. My car is beautiful again. Thanks, Phil! more

Terrible Service 7/28/2009

I had a horrible experience here. They overcharged me by a lot. Every time I thought I was getting the final bill they would send me another bill for thousands of dollars more that the original estimate. I ended up paying 6 times what they told me it would cost! I would not recommend this business more

Consistently Top Notch 3/5/2009

Over the years I have four (4) occasions to work with Thearle's following automobile collisions (none my fault or the fault of my family members, of course). On each occasion, the customer service was top notch, professional, and timely. Their time estimates were right on and my customer service rep kept me apprised of the progress of the repairs. They also coordinated very well with my insurance company. Their reputation is so good that the insurance company simply accepts their estimates without sending out their own rep. The work product is as perfect as can be done. On 3 of the occasions the work was to BMWs and the cars were good as new. I would highly recommend especially if you have a high end car. more

if you want it done right 9/29/2008

If you want the work done right, call Phil's. No nonesense service. Honest and of the highest quality. more

Just Awful 8/2/2008

They took three times the estimated time. They left me with just enough gas to get to the gas station (I left the car there with gas in it) They left someone else's license plate tags inside my car. more

way too long to fix nothing! 2/25/2008

I came in to get an estimate on my 2000 saturn and I thought I was getting great customer service. I took it in on January 28th. they did an estimate that day, which I thought was great. But nobody told me that it would take weeks to order the parts for my car. Nobody bothered to tell me that since my car was driveable, i should still drive it, or run the risk of running out of car rental insurance! So here I am a month later with no car and no car rental insurance so I am paying out-of-pcoket for a rental car. They still never called me to tell me that my car would be ready a week after they promised it, and I had to hear it from my insurance company who told me I better be prepared to deal with the fees. This place sucks! more

Not Worth It 1/30/2008

I to was referred to Thearle's Autowoks. I kick my self now. We had a 94 Firebird in perfect condition until someone hit it in the front end. We received several estimates one being from Carters in Santee. We were told they were going to use junk yard parts or used parts and were not happy with that. So someone referred us to Thearle's because they only use new parts. they were not approved with my insurance company, they say because they only use new parts and the insurance company don't like that. Anyways after working on the car 3 months. Finally I go to pick it up, and it looks terrible. the front bumper is over lapping the drivers side fender. Also the fender is over lapping the hood. Plus the pop up driver side head light will not pop up because the fender is over lapping it too. Of course I told them this was unexceptible and they need to fix it. You are not going to believe this: they told me this is the best they can't do because the fender is USED and will not fit right like a new one. I flipped. Of course i told the insurance company and they said because i did not go to a repair shop that was on there approve this there is nothing they can do about it. i need to work it out with them. Again they said this was the best they can do. So my head light still sticks really bad. most the time i have to get out of the car and manually lift it. and all this cost the insurance company $5000. Bad customer service to. They did not even put my lic. plate back on for me. i had to do it. Also my car squeaks alot now, because all the overlapping parts. more

Not Recommended 6/6/2007

I don't recommend this company. They had me drive out to the shop for an estimate only to tell me "we don't work on cars older than 2000" I drove 1 hour round-trip. They should have told me this before I went to see them. What kind of customer service is that? Steer clear if you are smart. more

Don't go there...and here's why. 4/24/2007

They sat on my car for 9 days after getting an insurance estimate. Even though my car was a possible total loss, they started repairing the outer sheetmetal before tearing the car down fully to establish repairibility. They wanted me to pay extra money for OEM from aftermarket parts, even though the pieces were plastic parts that would either fit or not. If they didn't fit, then they could bill my insurance company for OEM. They replaced three black textured moldings on the vehicle and removed/reinstalled three others. The ones which were removed and installed, they did not spray paint black to match the new moldings, even though it would've taken thirty seconds. They refused to replace my fog lamp bulbs, which I would've paid for the bulbs, as a customer service. I had a damaged headlamp on the RT side from the loss, which they put back in the car broken. Finally, after screwing up every aspect of my repair, I got a personal call from Phil Thearle personally telling me to pick up my vehicle, even though its not completely finished. He won't return my calls to discuss. Just because I don't own a Jaguar, doesn't mean my vehicle is less than. Their attitude is screw the insurance companies, screw the customers, we only care about making money. Don't go there. more

Outstanding autobody 1/12/2006

Unfortunately my vehicle needed a minor repair and I called my local dealership for a refferal. My dealership referred me here along with my auto insurance company. Been referred by two different sources for the exact same place, I knew they had to be good. I was correct in my assumption. I was able to get my vehicle into the shop within two days of filing my claim. The shop works on some of the finest high end cars and everyone leaves the shop looking brand new. My repair took close to two weeks to finish but I was very pleased with the results. My car doesn't look like it has a scratch on it. The employees were very kind and helpful and kept me informed throughout the ordeal. more

Great autobody shop 12/9/2005

I avoided having an accident for 10 years but someone hit my car and I needed a good body shop. I heard rave reviews for Thearle's so I took it there. I saw some of the finished cars leaving the shop when I first pulled in and I was mighty impressed. Some high end cars get taken to this shop. My advisor was pretty good. The shop isn't too good on following up with you. You do need to keep checking in and seeing when your vehicle might be done. I just got my car back 2 weeks ago and everything looks great. I had a brand new door installed along with taking off the front fender and back door. They have high standards and the blending of the paint looks great. No one can tell that the work has been done. Highly recommend but remember to keep calling and checking on your vehicle along with inspecting your vehicle before leaving the shop. more
