This was my first time using Pete's Gear Shop. I have an older car with 1966 engine and he spent extra time looking for parts to bring the price down for me. Everything works fine...

I took my car in to Pete's Gear Shop because some bearing needed to be replaced. I don't usually like to take my car anywhere because it's a BMW and I'm always assuming the worst. Pete's was a good experience though. The technician was very knowledgeable. He figured out what was wrong right away and it was perfect after it was done. He also did it for cheaper than other places where I've had work done. more

The shop is an amazing toy shop for grown men, and they listen and give you all your options. 11/15/2012

Pete's Gear Shop is the best. One day I was driving my car and my rear end blew up on me. I could hear metal-on-metal grinding and it sounded all bad. I did some research on gear shops and found Pete's. The price was legit because I was poor at the time, and they told me to bring it in immediately. They knew exactly what was wrong with my car without even having to look at it. They have lots of experience with Camaros. Not even a week later, it was good to go. I haven't had any problems since. more

Pete's great and the shop's great. 11/9/2012

I have an old Jeep that had some issues with the rear end. Pete's Gear Shop figured out what was going on and the route for fixing it and it's all 110 better. They also fixed my clutch for free. They seem like knowledgeable guys and they took their time to explain everything. Sammy Barker more

I had a rear differential problem, and I was calling around trying to find someone to fix it and someone had recommended him. I called him and he seemed knowledgeable. Just based on how he was describing the problem he had called it on the phone. When I took it in he showed me what the problem was, why I experienced what I did, and what happened to the vehicle. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain what was wrong and what he was going to do. more

Knowledgeable in their trade and easy to work with 11/2/2012

Pete's Gear Shop helped me with the restoration of my father's car. They put in a motor, did some rear-end work, did the breaks, and various other things with the car. Overall, it was a pleasurable experience dealing with these men. They knew what they were doing, explained things to me, and made sure I knew what was going on at all times. They did an outstanding job! more

I had Pete's Gear Shop do a transmission rebuild on a '63 Chevy pickup, and they did some clutch work and some other stuff. It's basically just been some transmission stuff. It was a fine experience. more

Wouldn't go anywhere else. 10/17/2012

Any time I have a problem with my transmission I would have it towed to him before I have anyone else fix it. I was recommended to him many years ago when I had a transmission problem, and I took it in there and he solved the problem. If there's a problem with the problem he solved he fixes it immediately at no cost. I've had two trucks go through his shop and he's done excellent work both times. more

I've had Pete do work for me probably for about 15 years. I had problems with my truck again recently, and I didn't even think about who to take it to because he did such good work for me and for friends before. I have had no problems with them. He is a nice guy, he does the work that he says he will do for the price, and he stands behind the work. more

Work truck rear end went out. 5/12/2012

I'm a contractor and my Nissan Titan work truck rear end was vibrating and make a bad smell. I pulled over, callled everyone I knew to find an honest mechanic. I was referred to Pete's Gear shop so I crossed my fingers and had my truck towed there. My truck was fixed in 24 hrs! Pete Freakin Rocks! The guy did me righteous, was honest, great sense of humor and the price was GREAT! Pete saved the day and my truck is back in the field! If you EVER NEED AN HONEST MECHANIC to work on your transmission or rear gear box, PETE'S THE MAN!!! IF I COULD GIVE HIM 6 STARS I WOULD. Thanks Pete, you da man dude! more

97 honda civic rebuild 4/5/2012

Pete was recommended by another shop to me. Pricing was very reasonable. I got my car back when he said I would and I am so happy!!! I also got a scolding for not being a good caregiver to my car. He also gave a 12k/12month Guaranty on the work. more

When I needed my rear end worked on for my 1953 Chevy Pick Up you can't just take it around the corner to anyone. This model has a tourqe tube and is not easy to work on. The people at Patrick's Antique Parts in Arizona that sell the 3:55 to 1 upgrade kit from the original 4:11 to 1 said I was lucky to be in the bay area because they highly recommend Pete's. The feeling of knowledge flow as soon as I asked the first question and I knew I was at the right place. He did a great job and even picked me up at the BART station. 2 Thumbs up for Pete's Gear Shop. If you have an older pick up or car this is the place to go. Thanks, John more

Knowledgeable and a great guy! 8/10/2011

About six or seven years ago, another transmission shop recommended me to Pete's Gear Shop Custom Transmissions, which right off the bat really impressed me that another shop was recommending them. I took the vehicle over there and Pete did the actual work and it was fantastic. I appreciate that you can ask Pete questions and he actually knows the answer! He's incredibly knowledgeable. Recently, I took a little Mustang in there for complete service to get it up and running. I actually bought it full on knowing I'd be taking it to Pete's. I'm completely confident that he'll get it in great running condition. Pete's an awesome guy! more

The serviceman I dealt with at Pete's Gear Shop Custom Transmissions was very professional. I read about them on the internet, and this was my first time using them. They rebuilt my transmission and the wheel end on my car, and did a great job. The work specified to me when I dropped off my car was exactly the work performed. Also, all the work was completed in the time frame that was promised. What's more, I was charged the exact price that was negotiated up front. I don't know what more you could ask for. more

Outstanding, Professional Service 9/13/2008

I was experiencing issues with my transmission and took it to Pete's. From the moment I stepped into their shop until I picked up my car and left I felt well taken care of and properly informed of all that was going on with my transmission. Scott at the front desk was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, as well was the tech that worked on my car, whom walked through all that would be done and why showing me my parts and what caused my issues. Wrapping up my transaction with Pete himself today capped off a great experience with this shop. My transmission feels like its brand new, my car drives wonderfully and I could not ask for a better group of people to be a customer of. Outstanding service, excellent communication and reasonable prices for truly great work. Hats off to Petes. more
