this food was horrible..the ribs weren't cooked properly, the sauce was nasty the mac & cheese was alright...the pigeon peas & rice was >_<.. the only good thing about the meal was the flop (drink, mixed with lemonade and ice tea).. what a waste of a drive and false hope more

Excellent BBQ 3/25/2011

I read a review prior to going to Miami I was looking for a good bbq eatery and read about Peoples and I decided to go and it was well worth the trip. The food was delicious and the desserts were awesome especially the Butter Cream Cake it was so moist I wish I would have bought more than one piece :) had I known. It's a down home place worth you trying you won't be disappointed. more

Great southern style BBQ! Big portions, great sides, great prices!! LOVE IT!! more

Colorful part of town. Ribs are not to my liking, meat is not fall-of-the bones and temperature was off. Fried chicken and barbecue chicken are more appetizing. The sides are indeed otherwordly. The greens, the beans, the corn muffins, I could feed on those for a life time. Really great southern food. Highly recommended to all with a little urban anthropologist spirit. If you're looking for kindness and ambiance in the service, look some place else. more

Ok BBQ. Some nice side dishes. Not the best part of town. When I asked what soul food dishes I should try, "I don't know" was the indifirent responce. Not very welcoming more

This is probably one of the best authentic Miami places to eat. Before the Cubans (and subsequent Latinamericans) arrived to Miami, Miami was a very African-American town, and this restaurant showcases the rich, and unfortunately oft-neglected, food contributions of Miami's African American community. One of the best meal deals around. Last time I checked, a full rack of ribs, two large sides, and corn muffins was just $25 dollars. I literally swooned from the flavors, and almost had to brace myself against the wall. Do not miss the sweet potato pie!! more

Mmmm...Tasty 10/16/2009

This is delicious. If I could steal their cook to be my personal chef, boy I would! The stunning flavor cooked into the meat is mouth watering. I still thank my friend every day for showing me this spot. What a delight! Pros: Delicious Cons: Wait can be a little long more

The BBQ chicken is awesome. I don't recommend the ribs though, too much fat for my tastes. more

Food for the soul!! 9/10/2009

Excellent food, each dish well prepared. From the juicy smoked bbq ribs, to the creamy mac and cheese, deliciously caramelized candied yams and toasty cornbread. Clean and simple place. Caring staff. Try the sweet Flip-Flop drink (iced tea/lemonade combo). Large portions! Two can share the lunch special.\r \r Pros: excellent homestyle cookin' more

Great BBQ! Not much to offer as far as ambience but the food is great and the service is good most if the time (read one girl waited on us once that needed some serious training...otherwise great). Love the collards! more

awesome!!!!!!!!!! 4/23/2009

Ignore all the bad reviews, this place is unique and special why? Because there is no other place that can stay in operation for this long doing this kind of southern food in Miami. The food is always consistent always season and good the whole menu including the desserts. And i almost forgot try the flip flop for those who dont know what that is ice tea and lemonade Pros: Smothered meats reminds you of Grandma Cons: limited seating more

Horrible! 4/3/2009

If you are looking for BBQ in miami do NOT go to people bbq. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Extremely disorganized and dirty. No service to rate since it took us a half hour to even give our order more

People's is a fantastic Southern/Soul food and BBQ restaurant... try their smothered ribs, fried okra, greens, and don't miss out on their banana pudding! The sweet tea is done the old Miami way- with plenty of sugar. They make black-eyed peas the way my grandmother used to. \r \r People's is on the edge of downtown Miami, just west of I-95... they're along a one-way southbound stretch of road, and there's parking around the back as well as alongside. Once you're there, you'll find a very welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. more

Miami local secret 4/10/2008

Amazing food- the sauce was out of this world. The warm corn bread was fantastic. The ribs, chicken and beef were all fantastic. The place is local, low key and the service is friendly. For the price you can not beat it. more

Oh my goodness! 2/18/2008

Don't rate this place on appearance! Rate this place on out-of-this-world barbecue and down-home style... more

Southern Charm 4/18/2006

This old country favarite is a hidden secret among most. The sauce is an original with a 50 yr history. Must be had to appeciate! more
