good...but not the best choice 2/21/2012

Although my stay here was pleasant, because my friends & I had a blast together, I was a little disappointed with the hotel overall. The service was nice, but I feel as though it wasn?t 5 star status. The gym had a certain smell to it. The food from room service came cold. The cleaning people wouldn?t come til days end to clean our room. Overall, I don?t think I?ll be back. ? more

for the price, this place really didnt pass. my room was great, but other than that, the staff was rude, unwilling to help me for the most part. I did find one employee who was more than awesome, i just wish the other staff would learn a thing or two from him. more

Best massage therapits! 5/31/2007

We got he couples massage. Lovely. Great service and great massage. Very relaxing. Each therapist we've gotten has been very good. We've been back 6 times! Enough said! Pros: Amazing all around! more

Great service 4/2/2007

I stayed here for three nights and I found my suite very clean and the bathrooms were HUGE! The room service ice cream was delicious, while most of the other meals were not the greatest. Checking in was a breeze with good customer service. Overall a good experience, but stay at the Four Seasons first if it's not booked. Pros: Customer service more

Good Massage Therapist.....poor service otherwise. 12/3/2006

Again, this hotel is a huge disappointment, don't think the Spa is going to be any different. First, for whatever reason they have only one person at the front desk. It would be logical to have two at all times. So, you have to wait until this poor girl is handling every customer until it's your turn. Not her fault, clearly management. Second, the dressing area was ice cold. I'm going in for a massage and the last thing I want to do is take my clothes off in an icebox. Third, the locker area, as far as I could see, only had like 12 lockers, and they are in a small enclove the size of a regular size bathroom area. We had four girls trying to change, and they was hardly any room to move. The massage was good, but they were a bit late for my appointment, not shocking when it comes to regular Peninsula customer service. Last but not least, I had a situation occur where they first were not very accomadating booking the appointment in the first place. This place is the king of saying no to simple requests like putting a charge on the room, before checking out for a spa service. I understand that some people are irresponsible and would maybe cancel, or want something else on top of that. But!!!! If neither of those is the case, and you just want to go in, have the treatment that is already paid for, why can I not do that????? Mind boggling how this hotel works. They made it into this big deal, and made us get giftcards, and then we were told that we could get cash back. Because they basically forced us to get a gift card, instead of just billing the room, plus gratuity. Now, I have a 39 giftcard to an establishment that the most you can get with that is a box of tea. They never offered to even say I could use it another part of the hotel. The description says they have gold sandals to wear, uh...no they don't! They are blue flip flops that are easily bought at any local Old Navy. Not recommended. Pros: Massage therapist Cons: Poor Customer Service on Management, cold dressing room, and very small more

Customer Service....in general poor. 12/3/2006

For a hotel that has such great quality throughout the rest of the U.S. This one drops the ball on many levels. For starters if you are needing a car service outside of their driving perimeter, you need to get a taxi. Taxis take for ever to get to this location. The three times that I took a taxi, within the same week, all together the wait time was about 35 minutes. This is unexcusable considering that a smaller boutique hotel right around the corner, gets there within a couple of minutes...tops! Second, not sure the employees are educated to make sure that you accomadate your customers, as long as what they are asking for is reasonable. The first answer is more times than none...""that's just not our policy"". In a hotel of their caliber, the word policy should not be used unless you are asking for something way off base. I have dealt with this hotel on many levels, and it always seems to be a disappointment. You would think the staff would be a bit more professional, and know what true customer service is, and not just to people that the see on a movie screen, or part of the entertainment industry. Do they have some employees, who know what hospitality entails, yes. But overall they need to spread that same knowledge through out the hotel. I don't recommend this hotel, their are plenty of other hotels in the same area with more class and better service. Pros: Certain employees go out of their way to be assisting Cons: The other 85% do not more

Champagne Brunches and Caviar Creams 4/4/2006

I indulged in the Belvedere's infamous champagne brunch. For $50 you get unlimited Perier Joulet champagne along with several courses of delcious brunch culminating with a Dessert Buffet Bar. The spa is small but beautifully redone. The products are fairly nice as well. And the pool area is very relaxing. The staff will help you into cabanas, recommend what delicious and nutritious tonics or fun alcoholic beverages you should drink, and will even give you a complimentary foot massage. Pros: Great Outdoor Dining Cons: Inconsistent staff more

Best Hotel in America 11/15/2002

It is appalling to find this great hotel not even listed on the editorial board for Citysearch/LA, or in the top ten of reader's choices. I've stayed in every hotel on that top ten list for LA (many of them fine hotels, to be sure), but none come close to the total package of the Peninsula. Great rooms, stupendous service, along with the best hotel restaurant on the West Coast translates to an experience beyond compare. The fact that this hotel is the ONLY Five Diamond AAA/Five Star Mobil hotel in North America (nine years in a row!) says it all. Yes, it is expensive, but when you add the above to the unique policy this hotel has of '24 hour checkin/checkout,' you have a value that no other hotel in North America can match!! Pros: Elegant, great service, 24 hour stay Cons: Expensive more
