Dr. Daas is absolutely terrible. I had a miscarriage and she was very heartless and cold. I immediately switched practices and am much happier where I am now.

Very poor experience with this practice. Although I really like my doc (Dr. Piquion) I will be switching offices. Usually I try to go for my annual on a workday during lunch. For the past two years I have waited over an hour. One time I left and last year I just saw a different doc so I could get back to work. I have also had a terrible time with prescription refills and have made several unnecessary trips to the pharmacy. The last straw was when the wrong strength birth control was called in (I've been on the same strength for 17 years). Luckily I caught this. If not I would have been adding more hormones to my body. The response I received from the office manager was less than acceptable. She became defensive and tried to blame my pharmacy. I will be switching to a midwifery practice. more

I never write reviews, but felt inclined due to the horrible experience I had at this practice. I used to go to Dr. Jeanne Grove when she ran the practice, and while I love her, I've never been treated by a doctor's office so poorly in my life. I had my first baby at an out-of-state OB, but have recently returned as I'm pregnant with my second.\r In general, the entire staff at this practice has been rude, condescending, and unresponsive. Every time I spoke to a nurse, I was told different things. While they do have a nurse-voice message system, there were MANY times when my questions or concerns (related to a previous miscarriage) were unanswered. In particular, I was waiting for blood work to come back on a Friday to confirm a miscarriage and I didn't receive a phone call until the following Monday). I rarely spoke to a doctor, and when I did was made to feel stupid or as if I was asking the wrong questions. When having my ultrasound for my current pregnancy, the stenographer was extremely rude and condescending. She tried to tell me that I wasn't as far along as I thought (off by over a week), despite the fact that I told her 1) I know my body, and I know when I ovulated 2) it wouldn't be physically possible for me to conceive when she said I did and 3)I was taking my body temperature and ovulation tests so I have it down to the DAY. \r To top off this horrible 2-month experience, when a doctor finally did call me back, she left a detailed voice message on the wrong phone number providing details about my medical history. Luckily, it was my sisters phone number she mis-dialed. HIPPA violation? What professional doctor leaves details about a person's medical history on an un-named voice message?\r Although I used this practice all through high school and college, I am changing doctor's immediately. From receptionists to nurses, everyone I dealt with talked down to me. I find it hard to understand how a practice can operate this way when we are PAYING YOU for a service. How can blood work and ultra sound results take 7- 10 business days to return? Unless I hounded them for blood test results etc., they never contacted me. You should never have to hunt down your doctor and you should never be made to feel inferior by their staff. I've had many OBGYN's in the past, and I'm appalled at how these people treat their patients. more

I just had the most HORRIBLE experience here! I was a new patient and hadn't had any major issues with them until now. (This was my second visit). I purposely scheduled my apppointment for the time during my lunch break from work (as I have limited time available) and arrived 5 minutes early. \r I didn't have to wait long before being called back by a nurse (to have urine and blood pressure taken, etc.) but immediately after was asked to wait in another area for an exam room to become available--about 30 minutes! When I was finally brought back to an exam room, they told me that I wouldn't need to undress (isn't that neccessary for an exam?) but the doctor would be in shortly. I proceeded to wait another 30 minutes and finally decided to leave. I'm not sure what was going on that they were so busy, or why they thought I made an appointment just to TALK to a Doctor (I could've done that over the phone). I feel that the extreme wait, plus the fact that they hadn't even intended to address my questions/concerns by performing an exam or conducting any tests was very disrespectful to me and inconsiderate of my time. I wonder how much longer they would have kept me waiting during my workday if I hadn't decided to leave?! \r *Also, just a bizarre sidenote, but while I was waiting in the exam room I could hear moaning noises (like someone was having an orgasm) in another room--So strange! I didn't know a Pap smear was enjoyable for some?! Needless to say, they wasted nearly two hours of my valuable time and clearly didn't think I was important enough to be seen (or my concerns not significant enough to address) so I'll be looking for a new OBGYN. \r I should also add that there was another time that I tried to call and make an appointment due to some unusual symptoms I was experiencing, and instead the receptionist said I should be fine and could just stop into the lab downstairs for some tests to be sure. She said that they would fax the lab request directly to the lab in the building, but when I arrived they claimed they hadn't received anything. So I had to go upstairs to hunt one down and try to make it back before closing, after already racing to get there). I appreciate that they were trying to make it more convenient for me, but they overpromised and then didn't deliver so they really just made it more inconvenient and frustrating. While most of the staff is very friendly, overall it seems very disorganized there and I don't sense any genuine concern for their patients here. more

I went to Penfield OB/GYN for a good 3 years. Everything started out nicely and the staff was informative and kind. Recently I went to the OB to clear up a yeast infection (tmi I know), and the doctor I had kept trying to tell me I had BV. I literally argued with him telling him I have no symptoms of BV and it's just nasty yeast issue but he didn't listen and put me on a prescription for BV. Needless to say, two days later they called to tell me my test came back as just a yeast infection. So glad I took medicine I didn't need! And most recently, the people who have been answering the phones were extremely rude, and the wait in the waiting room is usually only about a 10 minute wait but recently has been almost half an hour!\r If you are looking for a good doctor and this is a place close to you, see Dr. Chaya Diskind - I had no problems with her and she is very sweet and treats you kindly (unfortunately no matter how much I like her, the rudeness from other coworkers is just unacceptable to me). I'll be moving to a different office. more

After years of endometriosis @ Dr.s One that was my obgyn for 15 years and another I do not even remeber her name. My reg. obgyn who has always agreed I had endo, but stopped doing surgery. excellent Dr. I had a laparatomy about the endo and what could be done. She did the procedure and told me I did not have any endo? Ru kidding me? They told me from my first period at age 13 I had it. went back to my reg obgyn and said you still can have it but just not see it. When I moved back to NY. I was recommended to Penfield obgyn. I researched the Dr.s and decided Dr. Laroia specialized in endo , repair and urinary incontinence, which I had since my first child. He was awesome, did a exploratory laparotomy without a flinch, wow !, what a godsend. And yes, i was covered from head to toe, just as I knew. Stated it was up there with the top worse cases he had seen, he tried to eliminate as much as he could, but did not work. I was 37 with a tubal ligation and did not want any more children. Most more

Most obgyn gives you a hard time because of that age but he didn't. On to the hysterectomy we go. We tried leaving the ovaries, but it was feeding the endo, so we took out everything and took care of the incontinence. After the total hysterectomy , I was still having endo pain. We just thought I had soo much it wasn't dried up yet. He never gave me a hard time about pain meds, which was soo nice due to I really was hurting badly. Come to find out this pain was not stemming from the left over endo , I had Interstitial cystitis. Dr. Laroia discovered this also, amazing. This was treatable. I was one of the first 50 women to have the Da Vinci robot used for the hyst. This cut down on recovery time by 3 weeks. Dr.Piquoin and Dr Klimmik has assisted in the surgeries and have also seen Dr. Daas. All excellent Dr.s! I have read the others reviews and am in shock! Now one incident as someone else stated was they were treated like a drug addict. I too had a conference with one of the Dr.s who basically accused the same, but he was not the Dr. I primarily seen. This was absolutely upsetting to me, but in the Dr.s defense I had several emergency call ins and a lot of pain meds written, it's his job to call an assessment, By looking at my chart...I would of thought the same..a drug seeking patient. Truly I was not and was still in a lot of pain. Sometimes they are booked up but usually got right in. Other than that one incident , I have the highest regard for these Dr.s and nurses and staff. They have performed cutting edge surgeries and detected things no other Dr.s were able to.I recommend them to everyone..love them! more

Don't go here 8/29/2011

The doctors at this practice are pretty good, but the service at this OB/GYN has been horrible from the start. I went to their satellite office in Irondequoit and it was alright at first. It wasn't until I went to the pharmacy to pick up my medicine that I realized they didn't even have my name right in their systems. My order was under my middle name and it wasn't even spelled right. I had to have the pharmacy call over to RGH and get me an emergency order till they figured things out. Then the next year I called the Irond. branch to make a new appt. and it was fine, till I found out the day of my appt. the call system automatically goes to the Penfield office if no one is there, they scheduled my appt. in Penfield having me think it was Irond, quite the surprise when I show up and no one is there. Finally I get my bill for the appt and they charge me a crazy amount because the girls in medical records/reception (who knows) can't even put in my insurance correctly and my insurance denies my visit. Needless to say I am done with this practice. The doctors are very good, but the service is absolutely horrible. more

The best!! 5/3/2011

Dr. Laroia is the best OB_GYN I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He is kind gentle and a brilliant doctor. He has a great sense of humor and makes you feel so comfortable in his office. I had to have a hysterectomy and he did a fabulous job! His staff and other doctors in the practice are very knowledgeable and treat you as a patient should be treated, With kindness and respect! I was referred to this doctor by my own doctor for the hysterectomy and have since made him my OB GYN . I travel a great distance to go there but he is well worth the travel more

Appauling! 2/21/2011

It's so disappointing to have to write this review, because I was so happy with Penfield OB and Dr. Piquion in the beginning! I was dooped into believing that this was top notch care. Like the other reviewer, I have struggled with female issues such as endometriosis (which was diagnosed finally by Dr. P.), PCOS and pain. Dr. Piquoin is very friendly, likeable, and comforting. I was relieved to finally have a doctor that listened to me, and to finally have diagnoses! Right after my diagnostic laproscopy, things went downhill. I needed a simple question answered, and left messages repeatedly but with no results. Finally, a nurse called back and didn't really give me the answer to my question. This was after a few weeks by the way. I had to resort to being pushy and threatening to leave this office. I wanted a referral for a fertility specialist...have not heard anything back. I feel like I'm on the back burner, and there is absolutely NO after-care at this facility. I no longer exist to them apparently. So, I'm taking myself and all of my health problems elsewhere. If you are a woman who only needs routine paps or general ob/gyn appointments, this place would be fine I'm sure. BUT, if you are a woman suffering from any serious issues (or even minor chronic issues) I want to warn you : stay clear of Dr. Piquoin and this facility! There are other doctors in this office- all great- but it's still bombarded with patients and not enough doctors to care for them properly. A 45 minute wait for a 5 minute appointment is NOT service in my opinion, neither is feeling like your own health is not in your hands (and that you're being an inconvenience to those who are supposed to be taking care of you). Look elsewhere! more

Good practice 2/2/2011

I am pleased with the services I have received here. I have taken only one exception on a problem I had. Another doctor helped thpugh. There are good doctors and I have very little waiting time. I would recommended this place to anyone for any problem. more

Don't think this is the Care your looking for! 2/4/2010

I was a patient to this practice after my regular OB retired in 2000. I had my medical records transferred reflecting that I had ongoing issues from endometriosis with cysts, liaisons and pain. I really enjoyed the bedside manner of Dr Piquoin as she is very friendly, knowledgeable and out of the box thinker. Over time I ran into many issues with the practice itself. My Dr was always over booked and even with an appointment you were looking at a minimal 45 minute wait. There was never a opportunity for an emergency appointment causing me to be pawned off on other Dr.’s within the practice. I found myself at time defending myself for a prescription for pain medication. I have been on this regimen for years and have never increased dosage or asked for a early refill. I was treated as an addicted and denied my medication. I had to go through great lengths of conversation with Dr. Piquion and agree to her alternative methods of pain relief which included inducing an early menopause. She put me on male hormones and caused more daily pain and increasingly more side effects than monthly pain relief from a low dosage of 500mg Vicodin on a 60 count a month or less. I also started having issues with lumps such as clots in my legs and cysts in my pubic line all a side effect from the “recommended alternative treatment” I was on. I was seen in the office by another Dr in the practice and told the cyst was a shaving bump. I paid 2 co pays and had visits for this same issue before I was recommended to see a surgeon to possible remove this “shaving bump”. I did have it removed and they found a non cancerous tumor the size of a peach pit. A shaving bump huh??? I also had to have a laparoscopy to remove a cyst from my ovary. I was schedule a pre op appointment that I waited 1 hour and 15 minutes to see the DR for 5 minutes and sign on the dotted line. I was not examined at all. I was also charged$20 co pay and a 275 bill sent to the insurance company for this 5 min visit. I missed a $20 co pay that was then billed to me. I did dispute it because I was tired of paying time and time again to pick up a prescription. The Dr. wrote on my paper to waive the fee but billing continued to bill me. I wrote this fee off recently in my November 2009 bankruptcy. Remind you I was due for an annual checkup in July and was NEVER NOTIFIED. Is this an alternative to cervical cancer??? I have worked with much smaller practices and receive reminders for annual checkups. Back to my $20 co pay I received a CERTIFIED LETTER STATING I WAS TO PAY THE FEE AND NOT CLAIM IN MY BANKRUPTCY OR BE RELEASED FROM THE PRACTICE. I missed the release from practice part of the letter. I just called the office to make a annual and was told my Dr was booked until MAY! OMG MAY? I think I was due in Sept.? “I will have an office manager contact you.” This is the response I received. The next day my voice mail from the office manager confirming “my annual was due in July however; I have been released from the practice!” Do you really want these people in charge of your care? I think not. When money and as little as $20 comes in the middle of your well being that is not a DOCTOR that is Collection Agency. Cons: MONEY FIRST...Medical Care second! more

Penfield Ob Gyn 2/7/2006

I love this office! I have been a patient for 8 years and adore each one of the doctor's and nurses. I recentl had my first child and the experience was the best. I couldn't have asked for better service and communication. I always had questions answered, my tests were reviewed in full with me, and the doctor who delivered me was so patient and respectful! I will never go to another office! more
